Yeah element mount.

I like this! 16"? Not a big fan of the MBUS, but if your outer barrel is aluminum, I bet that thing is light as hell. Must handle very well.Silver buffer tube is very bling bling. Don't get it gold plated. Is this a TM EBBR? GBBR?
Nope just a 14.5" M4 barrel. Sadly the barrel isn't ally. As someone else has worked out its a PTW and it weighs an absolute tonne.
Good o'
AFG - Nah not my bag. Might look cool but I don't like the feel of them at all.
Kipper: What's the short dot you're using there mate? If it's a replica and you've got any thoughts on it, good or bad, I think fair few people out there, including myself, would like to hear them.
It's this one:
http://rsov.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=5510
Quality wise.. it's okay. In reality it feels like a 1.1/1.2x scope which outside in big ranges doesn't make any difference but it's enough inside to prevent any co-witness aimpoint style action.
The dot it quite dim too. The brightness can be 'turned up to 11' but even then it's not that bright. It washes out a bit in bright sunlight but then again it goes super dim on it's lowest setting (probably NV compatible actually).
And the all important eye relief? Not great. It's not that it's really close just the area where it's right is tiny. Move your head forwards or backwards even half an inch and it's a struggle to use.
All in - 5/10 maybe?
Guess you can't complain so much about the price and the fact nothing else out there has the look.
If it's just practicality you want (and 1-4x switching) and aren't too bothered about the short-dot look I'd go red-dot + magnifier.

Woo! New gun!
Still needs a few bits.. VFG, Sling + somewhere to attach it but on the whole I'm pretty happy.

Upgrade wise for adding a Shooters slide to a Compact, is it just hammer and recoil spring?
Cheers, Kip.

Sadly the ( R ) in the name means it's restricted shipping and they won't send it over.

Trust me... You can.
The '+' is added to narrow down the searches. Searching for this:
Gave me this result:
Do what it says and WHAMMY!

I don't think you can rethread an outer barrel from positive to negative thread. At least I've never done it. I just accept the fact that G&P like to be a PITA in that way, and buy an aftermarket barrel from another manufacturer in negative threading.
No you can't.
Had the flash hider drilled out to 16mm and dropped in boiling water.
Then made up a 16mm jacket and put a 14mm positive thread in and dropped the jacket inside the flash hider and let it go cool and tight on the jacket.
Job done and you can't see it for that little silver ring on the barrel anyway.

Clicking the name of the topic takes you to the post.

Ah pants.
Ordered a negative flash hider.
Ah well.
Trip to the engineers it is

Picked up one of these a few week ago.
Must agree with previous opinions really, great rifle with a 50/50 hop.
Gonna keep the hop unit stock for now and try a guarder clear + promy soft with a big out H nub and see what results I get.
FPS was 347 for reference.
Anyway does anyone know which way this barrel is threaded? Read two different things on different websites.
Is it -ve or +ve.

If I do it the manual way (through advanced search) it works fine : /

If I go on a user profile and click 'Find Topics' it will only list their topics as far back as about mid-April 2009 whereas the posts themselves clearly go back much further. I can't see an option to extend the search further into the past or am I just being daft?

The one disadvantage I found with this when I fiddled with one is that initial spark of the ignition cap: Much like the fizz of fused pyro bought at a site, your opponents can hear it coming and have chance to get into cover which is of course (for me) the big advantage to a BFG.

I was doing the 'Robert Capa thing' at PR4 until my camera died I may try and catch someone at the moment of being hit next time
One thing I would say Chris is that I find your framing too tight. It's always cropped very tightly to the cars leaving no background of the track and for me any sense of speed at a track is lost. I find it makes the shots very static. The one of the cadillac and the M3 I think would look better opened up a bit so that you can see the apex of the corner.

They're meant to be bent up aren't they? Because you'll be engaging targets at short distances.

CR123 do fit, you just put the batteries in at the bulb end not the tailcap end

Costa used to work for applied marine tech and Haley was in Force Recon iirc.

Heh, I'm doing a photography BA and I've only just seen this thread.
Here's an image from a series I did recently about twisted kids tales - this is one image from 'The Butcher The Baker The Candlestick Maker'
Was done on med-format film and scanned in.

I suggested this ages ago when I wanted to learn about the WE gun back when it was 200 pages, they're completely out of hand now.

[awful joke] I think you over did the camcream [/awful joke]

That looks really good. Looks like it would actually work really well

I was worried I had a problem with this 'flex' but it just turned out the screw that holds the outrigger to the bottom of the gas block was loose. Tightening that up completely sorted it.

In reply to your PM, As a photographer I think I know a little bit about it as well
I'm not saying that the Ares sight isn't rubbish. All I'm saying is that comparing one type of red dot sight with a different type is a pointless test. It's like saying you can turn a motorbike easier than a car. Yes I know EoTech say it works with mud in the corner of the lens or cracked whatever, but thats purely because the reticule can move around the window without it affecting aim. A couple of people I know have real Aimpoints, and at the edges of the field of view it suffers from similar paralax issues as this Ares sight. Perhaps it's something they've addressed in newer models it was 100% an issue affecting aimpoints in the past.
-
Not directing this at you, but infact at the video maker. This is a stupid test. Everyone do the same test with your own aimpoints at home. Even your 400 dollar real ones. The same thing will happen, thats one of the major selling points of the EoTech, the fact it doesn't change.
Edit: This is because an aimpoint shines a point onto a piece of glass rather than a real EoTech which is holographic.

I don't think the 'fins' are there to stabilise the belt.
I'm fairly sure they're there to push the mag out from the body when mounted on a vest.
