  1. I'd disagree, As Oik pointed out, DOF has bugger all to do with the medium, and everything to do with the lens in front of it. Use a micro Nikkor and appreciate how razor thin the DOF can be at even f8, let alone wide open. The DOF, the quality of the boke and everything else (1.5 crop factor) notwithstanding isnt going to change between a F100/F6 and a D70/D2X. What defines 'casual viewers' - newspaper and magazine readers, billboard viewers, portraits, gallery work, webwork? These are all serious areas that have either seen the change, or will see it increasingly to digital.
  2. Arnie, given that you`re in the UK, is there any chance you could shed some light on whether the 8mm mossbergs are skirmishable power-wise, or whether they`re good for plinking duties only?
  3. Very nice review, I've been interested in hearing how the marushin gas shotguns perform for a few years now. 'Tis a mighty shame about our situation vis a vis overpowered stock guns in the uk though
  4. Noo! The 300D was great for what it was when it came out (an affordable but crippled EOS10D), but the world has moved on a fair bit since. Canon-wise its far better sense to go with the budget 350D or the 20D right now. Me, I think lenses are more important than bodies, which are going to be changed every three or four years, so I went with a nice Nikon D70
  5. I hope Wege doesn't mind (the pistol is now his), but here's the only recent thing I've taken: Not all that inspiring, but I won't be getting studio lights until I'm back in blighty. Best photo tip I could give is just to know enough about the process that the end result (out of the camera) is as close as to what you originally wanted as possible.
  6. Not sure if they've been mentioned, but there's a lovely Japanese site here and it has a rather grand movie section
  7. R22, I've grabbed a few quick snaps of some bits and bobs from Arms magazines that I thought may be of interest: Here's some from Arms 11 2004, where they were reviewing these fellers: The Hudson AK47SE (rrp JPY 79,800 - GBP 403) And two American Gun Kids customs of the New MGC M4A1 (afaik rrp JPY 68,000 - GBP 344) Also a nice little reality-sheck for all their gratuitous full-auto fun These are from the latest Arms (03 2005), and show what appears to be a get-together by model gun enthusiasts, with the venerable Koba-san making an appearance:
  8. Good idea! I hadn't thought about that, maybe there would be a good use the resulting photos could be put to For anyone experiencing problems, maybe this would be a good chance to share tips and info, maybe the results of which could be collected together for a site article? I know some people can be a little protective of their personal technique, but there's a good few budding amateurs and point-and-shooters who could seriously benefit from a run-through of the basics of composition, lighting, ISO speed, aperture etc. without getting overly-complicated.
  9. Great review! I'll really have to have a closer look at what's on offer around here, as these sound like great collector's pieces
  10. *Ahem* The following is a proposal for an on-site digital photo competition for ArniesAirsoft members which would help provide funds for the site's maintainence/upgrading, and give people a chance to have some fun with their cameras. Please feel free to comment about what you think ----------- Photo Compo: Precis - This would be a competition in which member of the board submit airsoft related photographs to win a prize, support the site, and promote photography in the process. Submissions - Photos would be anything airsoft related, from a still of a single pistol, to an
  11. Very nice review! Any chance of a photo of the external gas rig that's used to power the little feller? Now that I'm out here I quite fancy picking up something unusual, and am a bit curious about what's exactly entailed in the whole setup.
