My custom SPR with a bit of wear and tear. I went a bit overboard on certain parts but try to imagine this thing being lugged through a jungle or thick forest where it will be bashed and scraped against branches and bits of foalige, hence the scratches along the receiver and barrel heatshield.

  2. I'm looking to buy a scope for my AKS-74u (the Dboys version). Can anyone recomend one? I was looking at POSP scopes and came across the Chinese version on various websites. Does this fit directly onto the receiver rail? Any modification required? First and foremost is it any good as a scope or should I plump for a different version or the real thing?

Any photographs of AKS-74u's with scopes would be much appreciated :D

And in keeping within thread rules:

  3. Something darker, as Pkekyo said, and some nice soft blending to break up the outline of that sexy thing.

    What brand is that, BTW?

It was originally a JG M16A3, everything's been replaced apart from the pistol grip, gears, motor and butt. The receiver is made by G&P.

    The finished product:

The quite stark green stripe down the side of the receiver has since received a dusting of light brown to soften up the edges

Just needs some wear and tear now. If I attempt another paint job on this rifle I fancy tiger stripes.

  4. Luvs2shoot, http://www.dentrinityshop.com/pr_details.jsp?pid=5445 that's the rear sight only mine isn't ICS.

More colours to come, the green was just lying around so I used it. When I've got time I'll go nuts with the air brush.

A friend saw an old M16 receiver I had been practising on and said "it looks like mud". That's got to be one of the best compliments with regards to camouflage you can get right? ;)

  5. Thanks for the help ViciousV10s. Removed the blowback mech from the slide, fiddled, replaced and got it working, replaced slide on frame. But now the slide doesn't move at all.

I've ordered another Pro arms frame which I'll either replace the current one with or sell on. Junior, what did you use to fill in the hole you had made in the mag well?

  6. My nearly finished Glock 18c!

Currently waiting on a couple of parts and as usual the gun isn't working properly. The Pro-arms frame is ###### quite frankly, the mag sits lower in the grip hence when you pull the trigger it vents all the gas at once. The fit with the slide (plastic or metal) is poor. There was also no hole in the grip for the magazine release rod (anyone know where I can get a replacement as I've trimmed this one too short). Yes it's got no front site, the old one refused to be removed from the plastic slide so a new one is on order.

Fitted the Cobra slide today but now the selector switch wont move from the safe position <_<

...It's not a bad looking paper weight however.

  7. Anyone wanna guess what inspired this picture? =P

KSC Glock 17 (Internals slightly upgraded, bought it that way. Constant 330 FPS),KSC Metal slide, Shooters Design Threaded barrel, Short Surpresor.

Could you tell me the make and model of that silencer. The suppressor looks excellent on that size frame.

Also, anyone know where I can get hold of part No# 72 for a KSC Glock (mag release "rod")? I had to cut mine down for a Pro Arms frame I bought (the frame had no hole inside the grip) and I've cut it down too short so it doesn't latch into the magazine release. Got a Prime metal slide on the way from Uncompany so I'll post some pics up when it arrives.

View through Aimpoint. On order is an M3 Scope with the correct (I hope) mounting rings, sun shade and Butler Creek scope covers. Should be complete then.

Taken with K850i hence the slightly grainy quality.

    Update since last photos:

    KA Spring return bipod

    G&P QD 20mm bipod adapter

    KA 3 point sling

KA charging handle with tactical latch (which may get replaced as the only thing I can see it doing is snagging on other bits of kit)

  9. Well the paint was going from my frame anyways after re-holstering the gun so much and after seeing the results of Richwatts2002's 4.3 I decided to sand the paint off my Tokyo Marui 5.1 frame.

Not as neat a job as his by any means but it'll suffice for now. Need to go over some of the controls and possibly work down to a finer grain on parts.

  10. Demoncase, that MP5k is niiiice!

Thinking of doing a DPM job on my nearly completed SPR. Start with a base coat of tan then add OG, Brown and black. I'll test it out on a spare M16 reciever first but would people recommend spraying the DPM pattern via airbrush or using stencils?

Ill take some photos of the experimental pattern when I finish it.

Some real inspiring work on here!

  11. Ahh that G&G barrel look's like a winner. Thanks Sale.

What's the quality of the KSC metal Glock slide and barrel. Should it be a straight fit or do you need to go to work with a file?

I should really look for some photos...

  12. Grumman: I wrote a little review about the Pro-Arms frame here: http://airsoft-barracks.com/forums/index.php?topic=1978.0

It is a rather shotty mold job and if your going to create an replacement frame and advertise it as having trademarks, then at least make an attempt to duplicate the correct trademarks. But I agree, highly visible mould lines, poor trades, and RSP1 pointed out also that the grips did have a shallower texture to them. I've fitted 2 now, and one was much easier to fit then the other which relates to poor quality control. The second frame needed quite a bit of filing in the magazine well in order for the magazine to drop smoothly, and the hole for the bar spring also needs to be bigger. Other then that I'm happy with the tan ones. They do look great when fitted, and some trades are better then no trades.

How is the color of the black one compared to the Stock KSC/KWA Frames?

You can try and look for a G&G G34 length outer barrel. Don't know exactly where you can find them now though. But for $20 more, you could buy a KSC Metal slide and barrel and just use the outer barrel, and sell off the slide...

Chris u'5: TMC Has them in stock. http://www.tokyo-model.com.hk/ecshop/goods.php?id=1609

Nice review. I notice your tan frame has the same little scuff mark in the centre of the left thumb rest as my black frame does.

I don't have my Glock to hand at the moment but I'll try and take some comparative pictures when I have both frames. I wish they'd recreated the HW frames of the 19 and 23 for the Glock 17 frame, although I've never held one I hear they are very nice.

I'll look into the G34 barrel. Sourcing a 18c metal slide and barrel seems to be hard enough at the moment! :(

  13. Junior, what do you think of the Pro-Arms frame. Recieved mine yesterday from Den and I'm having mixed feelings about. Yes it's got the Glock logo on the left side of the grip (the only reason I bought it as all the other trades are the same as the stock KSC frame) but the quality seems a bit dubious. The texture on the sides of the grip seem shallower than the KSC grip. Also, seam lines are visible in portions and there's plastic bur lines left over from the mould on the outside and in the mag well. Did you have this on yours? Mind you, it was only $26 so I can't really complain.

Hopefully it'll look ok on when it's fitted to my 18c

    dsc00099ca1.jpg

Much coveted Glock logo in the left side of the grip.

Also, anyone know where I can get a metal outer barrel of G34 length. Looking to possibly make a custom compensator to add to the vents in the barrel that are already there. I don't really want to have to get a G34 slide as well.

  14. My nearly finished M16 SPR. Everything internally is done. Just needs an M3 scope, bipod and QD adapter.

    dsc00010smallcu0.jpg

Apologies for the grainyness, taken with not much light.

I'll post some more pics up when it's finished and I have better lighting.

    Component list thus far:

    > Based on a JG M16A3

    > G&P M16A3 steel reciever set incl. metal gearbox and hop unit.

    > Prometheus spring

    > Prometheus 6.04 tightbore

    > Guarder cut off lever

    > Guarder trigger guard

    > Systema selector plate

    > Systema Area 1000 piston

    > D-Boys SPR front end

    > Samuri PRI front flip-up sight

The JG cocking handle is a bit stiff and doesn't always return. Anyone know if a KA cocking handle will work any better?
