  1. This thread needs some FNC...

Or rather AK5, to be precise!

Thus I give you my latest achievement:

A Real Steel AK5 SureFire handguard.

If you are looking for more pictures of AK5 related material, just go to the top of page 11 in this thread.

And for all you doubters out there: Yes, it works, although it's a bit difficult to demonstrate in daylight...

Modded from a Real Steel Swedish Army AK5 SureFire handguard with a separate SureFire flashlight with pressureplate which has been modded into the empty handguard. Works just fine. Although I don't know when I'll be needing one on my M120 AK5, but I think I'll find out soon enough.

    WOW. Those are rare.

  2. When you strip your VFC SCAR, you'll see a faux dust cover opposite the actual dust cover. This is what engages the bolt catch. Bend it in a little, but not so much that it won't clear the gearbox. That cures the weak bolt catch.

  3. Indeed, whoever started mass producing these at affordable rates (no, not 100+ quid) could make a bloody fortune off airsofters :P

People have been saying this for years. Nobody seems to be paying any attention. CA? STAR? SRC? Anybody...

  4. Actually, we were pretty frugal. Both carry handles cost us about $40

As for "too tall", the ultimate goal was to make these things practical.

Wow, thats a nice price...your machinist must have been ready to do the 1913 rail.

I,personally, can't understand wanting to make the rail taller. The stock G36C rail is almost too tall...something about G36 ergos demand (from me) a really low sighting set up. I didn't like my Aimpoint in a low mount on the stock rail...too tall. I have no interest in the KSK rail...cool, but not comfortable at all (for me).

  5. While I don't think the SCAR is the uber gun everyone makes it out to be...youd should have known about the stock, and the barrel is no harder to get a bucking on than any other gun. My front sight block isn't crooked, but its got some wobble.

Where did you get your EGLM? I've been watching the classifieds, but I never see them.

  6. I got my VFC SCAR. Nice gun. Not the ultimate AEG, but certainly nice. My bolt catch it tempermental, and my stock doesn't lock (but no one's does). I'm happy, and I'm glad I sold my G36 to get it. Fun and easy to break down...my ladyfriend was making fun of me for choosing a gun largely because it came apart like the real thing.

Some pictures. The ###### all over my deck chair is acrylic dust.

I keep it in the short configuration, but I like being able to easily go back to the standard carbine.

US Version, no trades. I don't care.

    Orange needs to go.

Its only partially dressed up...I have a light and TD foregrip for it. It needs a Vickers sling, EGLM and silencer. Probably a new optic, too. The aimpoint mount on there now was too hight for the G36, but is too low to cowitness on the SCAR.

I'm going to wait until the VFC EGLM comes out/up for preorder, then grab that and the silencer from HK. At that time, I'll see what is available for airsoft FDE Eotechs/Aimpoint M4s/Elcan Spectre DRs, and I'll grab a Vickers sling domestically.

Hopefully, someone does an accurate ATPIAL. I'd love one with a functional visible laser and a couple LEDs for the other functions, honestly. As long as it looks right.

  7. Does the Launcher detach from the actual grip? I think one of those double vented grips would look cool without the launcher !

And, Thanks to Wildething, i'll soon have my full length handguard and barrel, so I'll get some pics up :)

While it does come off, you're really just taking it apart at that point. You leave a large hole at the bottom of the foregrip.
