  1. Thanks for the info. I started the beavertail thread now on the just pistol section. Better than to spam the picture thread with my question. :) I think I saw the file down version once or twice. Possibly one was Romolus' work. I'll have a search for the 1911 pic. Thanks for the hint.

  2. Half cock (savety position) works with Marui. I know that. But full decocking didn't workt with the 1911 GBBs I tested (Marui, no WA). But I do prefer tactical reload option over possible hammer decocking anyday. A bitty my two SCW WA 1911s don't support that. I heard this wasn't possible because of built in gas system WA uses. I don't know if Magnas and SCWs are different here.

  3. What? WA supports decocking? I have to try that directly on my Warrior. That's cool. The pitty thing is, WA doesn't support tactical reloads (when slide is locked back, mag is changed and you just pull back the slide a bit to unlock the slide catch and have the gun ready to fire again. With Maruis and KSC Glocks I know this works. With my SCW-WAs it doesn't.

Can anyone report on real steel drop in Beavertails for Marui? My project is Marui based.

Thanks for the hint, BigAl :D

  4. You can decock original 1911 hammers only manually by holding the hammer back with finger while pulling trigger and guiging the hammer back in uncocked position. Not possible with airsofts (only with modification as Redwolf showed once in a report).

I have a question to all this craftsman experts around here. Want to file down the back of the 1911A1 frame to fit a standard beavertail.

    1) Anyone experiences if I could use a real steel Wilson Drop in beavertail for A1 frames?

    2) or anyone a tipp with which tools and techniques I can get a good filing result?

Thanks. My OD blackish Springfield TRP has beavertail by now. Will post pictures when I have some.

  5. Marui Springfield Custom (work in Progress, beavertail, Commander hammer and Wilson style grips to come)

The really nice grey black contrast of this build doesn't come out very well on the pictures. The 1911A1 fame is grey.

  6. Haven't tested it myself yet. But a friend of mine said, Maruis wouldn't fit. I'll give feedback when I've tested with 1911A1 mags and the mags from the Marui MEU.

And yes, this is an unsusual WE. Hope, WETTI will do some more here. I think they already launched a copy of the Marui 4.3 Desert Warrior. It has this new high flow gas system but I can't say if the finish is robust WETTI style or standard WE and easy to scratch.

  7. The Knighthawk performs suprisingly nice for a WE, I have to say. And I'm normally a WA- and Marui kind of guy, looking for details. I'm not convinced about details, here it is just a WE, but the finish is outstanding. Not that kind of paint that falls off just from looking at it. Hard anodized finish, really solid. But that's the benefit of WETTI, they are to WE what SCW is for WA in principle. Finish and rear sight are very good, rest isn't that outstanding, but performance is good due to this optimized high flow system and an out of box precission inner barrel. Very good bang for the buck. But I'll stick to customized Maruis and nice WAs, if I have a chance to get my hands on some models.

But for gamers I guess a real serious option, if one likes the look of this golf ball thing. Fits the PDW GBB well that will come out soon. Kind a like the FN P90 with the Fiveseven. :D

  8. Wow, the coating is really bad … edges and rubbed off parts everywhere … seems to scretch and fall of only from looking at it.

But gun itself looks quite nice. The grips are brilliant. Hope to get a pair of them somtime when anyone changes them for Pachmayrs or other grips.

  9. Nice Nighthawk Custom KAC 1911 Knighthawk. Finally I managed to fish me some original G10 gunner grips, being so glamourosly famous in the tan version on the Kimber ICQB of the USMC special forces. Nothing fancy, just a snapshot go give a quick idea:

Marui Hicapa 4.3 Les Bear Custom (just sharing the case ;) ) and Marui 1911 TRP with Gunners.

  10. Guarder slide and guarder outer obviously work perfect like Shooters on Shooters. I have a Shooters outer and it doesn't fit any stock slide or PGC metal at all. I guess policy of shooters is: to fit a shooters piece, buy shooters piece.

Drake, wow, very good shot. Seems to be excellent camera and a lot of talent in the trigger finger ;)

  11. Oh, I remember … yes … well, they are in good hands obviously. But color is a bit strong to normal, isn't it? Otherwise very nice bright red original grips.

somegirls: Do you have metal outer barrel installed? Doesn't look like the stock one. If so, which brand? Easy fit or need for a work over?

  12. Can anyone give infos on the version of the previous posted Glock GCNW 502? Strange rail for a Glock. Real steel? Newest frame version or custom? Reminds me on the actual rail design of FN FiveseveN USG. The pattern is pretty cool and professionally applied.

  13. Well, good points, thanks for the addition.

With "And aside some random models and strange mix ups there" I adressed the KJW Para and the Cybergun strange Para model with Para frame and slide with Colt markings and Bomar sights. That was the mix up part. :D

Thanks for the hint on "rounds". Now that I read it it is so clear and "bullet" sounds so stupid. Active and passive vocabulary, sorry guys.

The double stacker thing seems to have been around the block quite a bit more than the Paras. I had no idea. Thanks. But I hope the interested guys get the idea about characteristic difference between 1911 and ParaOrdnance.

Hakkon: Yeah, pitty WA didn't go for the LDA Trigger versions yet. At least they could bring up a Todd Jarrett edition now that they have a focus on competition shooting models lately.

BigAl: You're absolutely right. Mistake on my part with the 2010 grip and frame. Of course frame/dustcover ist metal, the grips beneath are polymer. Mixed up the terms.

"The rail, dustcover and squared Trigger Guard options can also be found in 1911's"

Absolutely right on this part too. But also a bit too special for explaining the general concept of 1911/Para/2011. I think we can agree on that.

There are custom single stack frames for 1911s. Springfield offers some, Safariarms is typical for their specific shape, sport shooting 1911s sometimes show them. But they are quite rare compared to variaty of classic 1911 models.

"If the Frame and Grip is a one piece polymer construction like the Kimber BP Ten II it is then still classed as a 1911."

Nice one. I like that Kimber version. And very good point here, too. But again, a bit special for explaining general concept.

So hope we can come together on the fact that we all love 1911 design because of its amazing model variaty and there is almost no combination of 1911 that wasn't built yet. And we can be lucky 1911 designs are quite popular (a lot of thanks to WA) in the airsoft model range.

  14. All three – classic 1911/single stack frames, ParaOrdnance and 2011 models – share same basis from M1911A1. Just with specific features, developments and characteristics, they developed over the years.

Classic 1911: single stack design, average 7-9 bullets depending on magazine

    SA_MS_L_4_350.jpg

Typical ParaOrdnance double stacker design: basically a 1911 with double stack steel frame (they were the first parallel to FN Hipower to introduce the double stack principle for improving mag capacity) 12-14 bullets I guess. Don't get confused: ParaOrdnance also offers classic 1911 single stack models. But they got popular for building 1911s with double stack frame (you see, looks like a 1911, but the grip is bigger to give space to more bullets):

    para_p14-45.jpg

The 2011 series can be seen as modern interpretation of 1911 design. You can see the look is quite different to classic 1911 design, various rail and dustcover versions, significant characteristic is quared trigger guard and polymer frame instead of metal. The leading companies in this field are SVI also refered to as Infinities and STI. 2011s come more from the sport shooters background, but there are also Tactical models for military and law enforcement issue. And again, there also are some few STIs and SVIs that are single stack, too. But 2011 typically stands for double stack.

    1911_sti_colt_custom.jpg

That's kind of the major difference. ParaOrdnance can be seen like a transition from classic 1911 single stack to modern double stack 2011 design. And there aren't many Paras available as airsoft models. WA was the only producer offering various ParaOrdnance GBB models. Most of them discontinued. And aside some random models and strange mix ups there are way more 1911s and 2011 GBB models to choose from. But I like the classic Paras a lot. Pitty they are so rare these days.

  15. Nice Springfield.

Would have been nice if you had left the grips clean. Makes it look like an accident now. But overall setting looks good.

Any idea about this weired display lately? With that bloglike comment tree instead of normal page view? And this commend on top not to post in this old thread anymore? Already had that issue with the Glock picture thread. <_<

Got it: Display mode upper right option dropdown. Strange display mode changed. Never touched display settings.
