  1. I think you'll be happier with the HSGI weesatch/wasatch. Neither the Gen 1 or 2 Chassis is really designed to hold that many mags. I've seen people add mag pouches to the wasatch and carry as many as 36 mags! :o

This is very true. For load bearing stuff, you can hide more mags in a wasatch then you can in almost any other system out there. I've seen dudes at my local site who have 20 mags strapped to themselves and they don't really even think about it.

That's one of the reasons I use a weesatch; it's compact enough to be palatable and comfortable, but yet has that mag carrying capacity, especially since I use locaps and midcaps and frequently get into extended firefights.

  2. Idk, that back plate carrier is awfully small. I think it's the Weesatch for me; I need to carry 10x12 standalones and I need massive stitching and a humungous pouch for my plates.

I guess for airsoft it'd be fine, but I skirmish mostly with real deal gear on to get used to the weight and what I can and can't do in combat. For me it's training, so Idt this is for someone like me.

Other than that, it looks wicked cool and if I weren't such a nut about wearing actual armor plates while playing airsoft, I'd wear one of these, especially considering the cost.

  3. Would an actual-non-photoshop but still crazy looking gun be welcome here?

    It's a real steel too...

^ Tony Rumare gun there... Tromix built... it aint pretty but ALL of their stuff is damn good so I'd expect their Siamese AR's to work flawlessly.

  4. I've got a real one, rifleman configuration with the cross draw in OD green... build is pretty damn good but it's one of my least favorite LBV's to wear. I find it rides up on me far too much, even with the vest adjusted properly, because of the slickness of the nylon on the inside of the vest. I tried using the built in belt attachment but it's bulky and cumbersome to don and doff and is very uncomfortable.

The hydration bladder holder in the back of the vest is virtually useless; I own 3 blackhawk bladders and they're great, but I keep them in a separate back because in the vest the bladders move around and aren't held in place well. When I play I'm often on the ground, going prone and rolling on my back, so I really don't like it when a hydro bladder is poking at my back awkwardly.

The pockets of the vest are usable with STANAG mags, but just. I expected a company like blackhawk to size their mag pouches a little more liberally for two mag use, but alas it's very difficult to get two mags in each pouch. the pistol mag pouches seem to be made for pretty long pistol mags, as my USP mags aren't enough to fill up the whole space. Idk if this is blackhawk designing the vest for use with all types of mags, even those with extended baseplates, but I really don't like it when my pistol mags are bouncing around in my LBV. Word of warning: DO NOT USE PMAGS WITH THIS VEST as it's not big enough to hold 2 of them in a pouch and even when holding one Pmag the mags get stuck on the walls of the pouch and take a split second longer to extricate. I recommend getting a dump pouch.

The pistol holster is JUST big enough for my USP, which is a pretty chunky gun. It fits my Sig 220 like a glove and my M9 is a little too bulky for it, tho I'd never use my M9 with that vest just because of the weight distribution of the pistol, especially loaded with 17 rounds of 9mm. I recommend a drop holster and avoiding the crossdraw unless you're running and airsoft gun or a Glock/similar weight pistol.

As for the rubberized shoulders, I do like how much grip they give for a rifle, but I find them a little bulky. I tend to pull my 416's stock in to the shortest setting when I'm using the vest. Still when firing a real gun, it's nice to have the extra grip, especially with things like my Saiga 12 shotgun, which has no traction on the back of the stock.

The nylon on the vest is very good quality; I don't think the vest will wear out from use unless it was badly abused, which is a shame as I'd like to replace it due to how annoying it is to use and the pockets. I just keep it around as a secondary LBV and a "just in case" item for my real gear.

I give it a 3/10 due to the build quality being good, but it's an expensive and for the most part annoying piece of gear.

  5. Two words: *albatross* Grenade.

You can thank my Gal for that one. It's actually an inside joke; we were in a skirmish and someone threw a grenade into our trench. Right before it went off I sat on it to save everybody in the trench, and thus the word *albatross* grenade was born.

Mine, not my Gals, is: Hey Ahmed, you better get used to this cause this is what's going to happen in Guantonomo.

  6. That's what really annoys me about Mk23 users; it's not how big the gun is, it's how you use it ;)

Of course, it never hurts to have the biggest gun in the lot... Nice Mk23 friend! It's in better shape than mine; I just bought a used Mk23 off a friend of mine, shoots decent but all the trades were scratched off from when he got it imported. No biggy, but annoying none the less. That and the TM plastic being shinier than Phil Collins' bald head... still the TM Mk23's are real hand cannons.

  7. Ever wondered what a G36 Bullpup might look like? Perhaps something like this:

    g36_bulpup.jpg

Gentelmen, we have the HK G37!

I NEED this rifle. I'm going down to the local hardware store to buy bondo and I'm making one. Look for future posts on build progress; I'm going to do a build of this in between my "Realistic Blow Back modual" development. I have built a mechanism to mimic .22lr force for GBB's along with GBB Cmags and custom milled CnC USP slides, but that can wait, because I NEED ONE OF THESE!

  8. How do you holster it? :P

    :zorro:

Take the mag out of the gun and store the mag in a mag pouch. I have two other USP standard mags that I use with it too, so I only use the drum magazine when I use that gun as a primary.

  9. That's crazy cool.

I have seen tons of threads from people asking how to make a C-mag for a Glock 18C.

How are you safely storing the gas under pressure without leaks?

I've got a little pnuematic cylander in half of the Cmag, which is regulated and fed directly into the magazine's internal chamber with some jerry rigged plumbing. It's all very homemade looking inside, but it's tacked together well enough to hold the pressure. Works like a charm actually. I'll bet you can build a Glock 18c one with a similar system, I'll have to get another Cmag and try to splice one onto one of my KWA Glock 18c mags. I don't know what made me stick this one on my USP, but it's permenantly fused to the baseplate right now. Anyway, just trying to make the pistoling wolrd a more interesting place.

  10. Well, I guess I gotta add mine to this thread... you'll laugh when you see what I've done, as it's... rather unique. I'm probably the only guy who has a drum mag on his USP. This is KWA base, with a modified G36 motorized drum mag. Gas is housed in one half of the drum mag, and the other half functions like a normal motorized drum mag. Gets about.... 200 shots off one fill of green gas, and the mag holds well over 500 rounds. The slide has been polished as you can see, and the sights have been painted luminescent green. Trademakes on the original mags have been colored yellow. I have two otehr non-modified mags, both of which have homemade highflow's cut, which allows this gun to pump out about 315 FPS with accuracy up to 70 Feet effective.
