  1. Hey, whatever it takes to reduce the level of sausage fest at your average game ha ha.

Cheers but unfortunately its off to Germany with its new owner soon so wont get an outing here in the UK I doubt.

Just to clarify the finish isnt glittered 'CKinnerley' but spray Plasti-coat 'Pink' with a sprayed satin varnish finish. I think the lighting makes it look 'glittery'.

Im loving the Colt Delta Elite posted by 'k.a', very nice and makes me want to build one...already got the wrap around grips with Delta logo.

Just done some remodelling to my Range Officer, it now has markings, also rebuilt my TRP and this time no firing issues, she works like a dream....at last.

  2. Yes I know there's been lots and lots of TM 870s on here so please dont bite me   I love mine.

Ive done a a simple custom job of fitting the G&P extended mag tube and barrel-mag tube brace (I think thats what you call it?) and removed the RIS and foresight which in my view looks more traditional as a shotgun should look.

  3. There are some truly gorgeous 1911s im seeing here guys, praises to you all, you have me frothing at the mouth in sheer lust

I too am now the proud owner of the new TM Nickel plated S70 (pics to come) and have to say they have done a wonderful job on the finish. No mould lines, no bad waviness to the finish that can happen when ABS is plated, other than a slight patch near the chin cuts. All silver parts and controls nicely plated. Now to get a set of Ivory grips with a very sexy lady on, purely for artistic reason of course :D:rolleyes:

Im STILL waiting on my Nova Commander kit!!!! Seems Customs have gone to sleep! I have now sent an email off, after waiting a month, which should stir them up to hopefully send it my way....pllleeeeaassse :(

  4. The serial number dates to 1977, however accurate that is I don't know !

The kit appears to be based on the mid to late 70s steel/aluminium (LW Commander) version and not the earlier light weight version (Combat Commander). The CLW at the start of the serial number means Colt Light Weight.

    Pre 70s = Combat Commander (S/A).

    Post 70s = Commander (S) and LW Commander (S/A).

Colt first built a prototype Commander size 1911 in the 20s in .38super but it was never produced. The Commander was finally brought up again by the US Army in 1949 as a possible order for production. Colt proposed it to be built in 9mm caliber, with a light weight aluminium frame but the military rejected it!

    Beautiful kit, simply beautiful B)

  5. Ok MrManiac, i'll search.

Wow, nice custom/viceroy, what paint (and color) did you used?

Talking about "ivory" grips, this is my buffalo horn grips (silver colt mk iv series 80 - tm 1911 with pgc/prowin kit) and carom shot polymer grips (dark grey colt national match - tm 1911 with guarder kit)

Thanks. She runs well and has become my choice sidearm for skirmishing, even winning out against my usual TRS

The spray paint is from a local D.I.Y. car supplies chain store 'Halfords'. Matt black with their grey plastic undercoat. Gives a good finish if done on a warm dry day with even light coats. The grips (standard TM 1911a1 checkered type but sanded down smooth) are sprayed with Volvo polar white car paint.

Loving those Ivory grips. Wow do they make the 1911 look classy. B)  I purchased a set of Polymer Ivory grips which were way cheaper than the real mccoy ones but look stunning, ive fitted them to my Ed Brown Jim Wilson Special. Just wish I could get slim line versions but they don't seem to allow them in the U.S. for export  Same goes for the Gunsite grips ive been after, they don't export, so fustrating!

  6. Very nice, did you post the tutorial in youtube for the above? whats the title?

Thx MrManiac, cost arround 35 pound in my country

I think I did  Im not sure to be honest, ive done so many videos now   Just have a look under my 'Hints and Tips' playlisting for Bomar sight fitment it should be on there somewhere. If not then I will have to do one soon lol!

Now fitted a chrome MEU outer barrel and white 'faux' Ivory grips to my 'Viceroy'....

  7. Thx, will do. Btw I saw most of your videos (LaZouche custom), very nice. Have you ever tried to put novak/bo-mar sights on std metal slide (like std kjw1911) ?

Not a KJW but I have cut for both a 4,3 rear sight to a Bell metal 1911a1 slide and TM Bomar rear sight on a Guarder Colt National Match 1911 metal slide for a chap in the U.S. as shown below...

May I say your engraving work is fantastic   That would cost me over a hundred quid :fear:  here in the UK to get just two slab sides done with that kind of detail.

  8. Thanks Rob,

I should have mentioned sooner, and probably have a few times in the past,

but you have been a great inspiration to me, and without watching most of your videos back in the day,

I probably would not have had the confidence to custom build my own guns, so Respect Man

Anyhow here is one I prepared earlier today, 90% finished, just waiting on a full-length recoil-rod in the post somewhere.

Its a Nova Kimber CDP II kit for TM and my old-trustee WA Prime Kimber Ultra Compact CDP II.

Pleasure to have inspired you my friend.

That CDP II is gorgeous though it has to be said ;)

  9. my on going project, frame KJW1911 - customized to fit beaver tail and painted silver, slide KJW KP05 - engraved marking Kimber Tactical Custom II - polished and painted silver on front lower side. Next step will engrave the frame (Kimber marking/yonkers...). Reverting when I finish this project....

Nice project and weldone on shaping the frame tangs to accept a beavertail so well. Hope your going to show us when its finished ;)

  10. I'm not an expert on the 1911 by any means, try Mr Maniac or Mobius, but the TM sights are more similar to the original 70s style sight,

the sights included in the nova kit are identical to the TM version.

That is one very beautiful pistol 'Squad 701', excellent work.

Regards the Series 70 sights. Colt were having big problems when the Series 70 was introduced with quality and production issues mainly associated with the new sprung colleted bushing (idea was sound but Colts quality issues let it down), so never looked at what the customers really wanted like better sights and other options. The sights were basically the same as the earlier G.I. Colts. It was only during the later stages, just before the Series 80 came in (another failure for Colt), that the higher profile sights started to be fitted on odd Series 70 guns, though a lot were retro fitted afterwards by gunsmiths.

When it comes to triggers, they were basically black but some were fitted with silver ones on an 'adhoc' basis either for specials, commemoritive versions or higher grade types. They also vary on length but though the short type was the norm, medium to long types were fitted mainly to the Gold Cup (adjustable 'bannana' hole version) and Delta Elite versions (mainly black) or again retro fitted afterwards to other types by gunsmiths.

TM have done an excellent job on their version and have gone by the book when it comes to Series 70 features of the time.

  11. Now with matching mag pouch. Next I'll make a koozie for that drink!

Thats a real classic look you got going there RC.

Reminds me of a scene from the 'Jesse Stone' series of murder mystery films, when Tom Selleck lays his 1911 Commander down on the table next to a glass and fills it with burbon....

    My version...not quite the same...

Als loving the swap arounds for the Strike and Night Warriors there Callahan_88.

  12. As good as I am in carving wood, I can safely say that I can't make these:

Yes I also saw these on Hickock45s YT channel. Gorgeous work and they are fully functional.

So the guy who makes them could say that none of the internals are metal he used polymer hammer and recoil springs, they even strip down as the real thing does. It took 50hrs done using CNC machines and 50hrs handbuilt, incredible work. The guy who makes them is planning a Colt SAA revolver next!

  13. If you put a little more money in it, you could correct a couple of things:

THIS is the correct grip safety, and it'll save you the trouble of sanding it down, it just costs more than a full new Tercel. You can try and find an A1 frame that has a checkered front strap, instead of using the Wilson Combat add. The trigger, you can start off a solid one, and have the holes custom driller to get the correct ones. Now, the tricky parts are the MSH and the sights, those you'd have to get custom made. My replica is nice for being made so cheaply, and with off the shelf parts, and just lots of work that can be done at home. Get it custom engraved with a NM serial (either snake's, or your own, which is what I might do in the future, meaning it's another custom NM slide).

Go a step further than my project!

    Fox.

Yours is so good its going to be a toughy to match up to. I will be doing one based on the TM 1911a1 and doing a LOT of custom work to the slide, gripsafety, thumbsafety,  slide lock, sights (if possible?) and the MSH. Lots to do  :nosleep:  Im no computer gamer so have no real good screen shots to work   with but im going to give it a go, as ive been asked on my YT channel to do this project so many times its finally worn me down lol!

  14. 170 pages, and no 1911 inspired on Snake's Custom from Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4? Shame on you, guys

    Fox.

Now that is a nice piece of kit. Top marks on an exceptional replica B)

170 pages without one huh? Weeelllll....may just be doing another very much like yours very soon

  15. Finally all the pieces came in..... still sporting a marui frame.....

    Fnp9JsWh.jpg

    70RGUM1h.jpg

I also need shorter/flatter screws..... any ideas?

Try Tercel 1911a1 screws, the heads are thinner by about 1.5mm, then just cut the threads down. Nice looking piece  B)  and the correct thumb safety. Where did you source that?

Sorry to re-post the pics in my quote but don't know how to stop it
