  1. I was at bristol airport for something a while back... possibly when I went to france with me (now ex) Girlfriend, but that's not relevant... There were at least 2 armed officers there, both with G36c's, with the standard 10 round loads in the mags, and no optics, just iron sights.

Take the minor details with a pinch of salt, mind, it was at least a year or two ago and I *have* been drinking tonight, so... yeah. Definately G36c's, though.

Also, my mum claimed that when she went to manchester a few days ago there were police with some kind of huge gun... didn't ask for details as she's not a gun nut, but from the sounds of it I'd guess at something like G3 length, probably a bit shorter. Anybody got any idea what this could be?

  2. Pah :P

I had it black but wanted a splash of colour on it. And as I said, it looks a lot darker in person, it's just a trick of the light (and the fact that I can't adjust levels for tofee in gimpshop) that it looks so light.

  3. I'll have to see if my mate tom has any pics of his kit around... not technicaly a brit police loadout, but he's got something rather close; Riot armour (leg and arm guards and so on), S10 respirator, Black helmet, black trousers and shirt, black vest, black everything. Looks rather SAS/CO19, IMHO.

EDIT - Pic. As I said, not strictly Police, but is it close enough? That's for you guys to tell me :P

Edited again as I didn't realize the pic was smegging huge ;) jsut a thumbnail linking to the image now :)

  4. Right, I'm gona apologize in advance for this... but I ahve here some pics of the shiny sig from airsoftscotland... yeah, I know :D Hardly counts

But I feel i may as well add it - there's a fair few internal pics too, so you can see what's going on. Just for those who are interested, really! Most are self explanitory, but I'll add a few comments just to make sure...

    Looks okay(ish) from a distance...

I tried to paint it black (obviously) but the REALY cheap plastic kinda hindered me, paint didn't stick too well.

Comments are quite welcome, even if they are along the lines of "Burn it and get it out of this thread" ;)

I will say that for the price (£35 before postage!) it's damned good. It can't really touch a proper GBB, but for the price it's hard to complain. It's a fully working GBB that's reasonably accurate at pistol ranges, fairly powerful, and has a decent ammount of poke :D

For the price, not too shabby ;)

  5. And here are the rest of the pictures :D

How the silencer attaches inside the CASV... There's a Marui flashhider under there.

    th_DCP_1042.jpg

Random shot of how it looks sans-silencer... not all that great, realy ;)

    th_DCP_1043.jpg

Upper receiver removed, showing the main component parts.... Just a general interest shot, really. note the lovely shiny Prometheus barrel there :D

    th_DCP_1044.jpg

Quick shot of the gearbox and hop unit sitting next to it. Just in case you were wondering what that sort of thing looked like ;)

    th_DCP_1045.jpg

To answer an inevitable question, no, the paint does NOT look that color in person. It's much darker than in the pics, much closer to an olive drab than it appears to be. Sunlight + lack of knowledge with camera + lack of knowledge in Gimpshop = bad colours ;)

Any questions about it? I think I went over what was in it last time I posted pics, so I can dig the (now amended) list out if anybody's interested...

  6. Well, this post will take about a year to type (;)) but them's the breaks... Just hope it all work properly when I'm done! :D

As promised, here's a load of pics of my M4 in its current state... Click the thumbnails to go to the full image...

Here's the M4 and associated mag pile... those are 2 mags deep, making a total of 12 mags. 5 MAG Midcaps, 4 unknown brand HK416 Midcaps (the ones from RSOV.com...), 2 DBoys 416 Hicaps (Again, RSOV.. :D), and a G&P midcap. The pistol is the Shiny sig from Airsoftscotland.

    th_DCP_1022.jpg

Better shot of the Mag Pile, you've got the DBoys Hicaps at the bottom of the image, with the 416 midcaps above them. You can also see the half-finished stippling on the pistol grip...

    th_DCP_1023.jpg

General shot of the gun... I know, no bolt catch, bad finish on the charging handle, no teeny receiver pin, and seam lines on the stock. I never said the gun was perfect ;)

    th_DCP_1024.jpg

A nice wee pic showing the CASV set, silencer, and assorted other stuff...

    th_DCP_1025.jpg

Another Generic Pic... Nicely done IMHO - or at least it is for my photography skills ;)

    th_DCP_1026.jpg

Close-up (ish) of one of the 416 midcaps. Nice and strong, feed well, and rather tasty trademarks. What's not to like?

    th_DCP_1040.jpg

shot of the gun facing the sky. This shot was a pain to do, had to balance the gun on the stock and tie as low as possible... <_<

    th_DCP_1041.jpg

More pics to follow in another post, I have 11 pics and the limit is 10.. Damnit >_< Bear with me here...

  7. Nice and simple, I like it.

Pictures of my m4 to come soon, once I dig out my CompactFlash reader so I can get the pics onto my PC... and uploaded to 'tinterwebs...

EDIT - Got it, pics to follow shortly...

  8. Okay, as some of you may know, I purchased the siny sig from AirsoftWorld (or Airsoftscotland, whichever you prefer..) yesterday.

About fifteen minutes ago, my order showed up, so top marks to *albatross* there.

Opening the box with the sig in it, you're greeted with the usual bumpf - manual first, with the goods underneath. The sig comes with a bag of seals (they look like spares, as the gun already has all of them installed, as far as I can tell), a speedloader (with no pistol mag atatchment) and a smal bag of decent looking BB's (!).

Picking up the gun, the first thing you notice is that it''s light and plasticy. Cheap springer feel here, I'm afraid. But for £35, I'm not complaining much! Plastic is very shiny and tacky, but it doesn't feel too bad in the hand, just a bit... light and cheap, really.

Now time for a bit more of an n-depth look! :D I'll start with the controll,s methinks. The slide takedown catch is flimsy-feeling plastic, and needs to be pulled directley out and away from the frame to get the slide off - I've not used many sigs in my time, so I dunno how realistic this is, but I'd hazzard a guess that it's not very. safetly works; Up for off, down for on, standard fare, i think. Slide release catch doesn't move at all; mag has no follower, but it *will* lock back to some extent with an empty mag - more on this later.

outer barrel is molded into the frame, so the breech won't open when you fire the gun - very basic stuff. But then,. bear in mind the price!! Mag release works fine (thank god), and the trigger is metal, and feels okay. The hammer is again metal, but doesn't cock back; what it really does is stop the flow of gas when the slide moves backwards. Nifty IMHO, but not too realistic ;)

Operation - well, can't say much about this, as I have no gas... but ic an tell you a bit about the innards of the gun - yep, I've ripped it apart already. But hey, this is me that we're talking about here ;)

The trigger/hammer assembly is an ancient design, as far as I can tell; there's no hammer spring, the trigger pushes the internal hammer forwards directley. So the ammount of power you'll get is dependant on how ahrd/fast you pull the trigger. Hmm. Not brilliant, but if it works, it works.

As for the slide locking back (told you I'd get to it...) the follower that pushes the BB's up is flat at the back, and protudes high enough into the workings to stop the slide going all the way forwards. at first i thought that this was a design fault, but I realised that it's a very crude way of locking the slide back a bit when the mag's empty.

That's all for now; no pics as the gun is currentley in bits being sprayed black, and I don't have a decent camera. my recomendation; if you desperately want a GBB and don't care about rough edges, go for it. if you have more money, go with something else. This is strictly uber-budget, can't afford anything else material, IMHO.

  9. Any chance of taking a pic with the short barrel config and the inner barrel removed?

If you wait a while rsov is supposed to be getting some surefire m900 copys, they'd look good on the casv imo.

I would, but I'm afraid I'm up to my elbows in a mates SL8, so you'll ahve to wait for a while :P

  10. Looks good (well as good as it can in those pics) I'm loving that CTR stock, you dont see enough of them imo.

Have you thort about getting a shorter outer barrel? It'd look better with the Noveske flashhider. RSOV does steel and alumium barrels for about £15 and the front section comes off.

I have thought of doing that - my current outer barrel comes off at the same point. The only problem is that my Full-length Prometheus Tightbore says some nasty things about chopping it down ;) If I Get some spare cash in the future I'll probably order a shorter TB and Have a CQB Setup Too. But not at the moment :D

MDK, the m4s looking good,  are you going to front wire it and replace the bolt catch.

i didnt know the ACM aimpoint came with trades

Yes, I am at some point. Going to get myself some deans connectors and a battery to go in the PEQ, and do a proper job of it. The Wires inside the gearbox are getting towards "A bit shagged" - IE, a bit of the insulation has come off on the negative wire. Nothing major, But the whole loom could do with an overhaul.

And yeah, I was a bit surprised at that. It also comes with the Mount, Batteries, and Flip-up covers. The covers aren't shown 'cause I did a bad and lost part of teh front one <_< Working on fixing it as i type...

    So, yeah, shopping list is:

Some kind of Ergo Grip (G27 lookalike, maybe>)

    New Wiring

Some parts painted OD when my krylon arrives

New Selector plate (Current one is shagged, My full auto doesn't work)

    New Gearbox Shell

    TM/Element Piston

    Element standard Gearset

    Proper Torch :D

And probably a few more bits and pieces that catch my eye. I'm looking to have 350 fps and 25-30 rps, preferably. I may get myself one of those Dboys Gearboxes and just have a drop-in replacement with a different config; 370 at 20 rps or something, for big events with high FPS limits like copehill down.

  11. Well, it's comfy as hell and fits straight onto my unknown brand metal stock tube. Good build quality, although the plastic isn't the best in the world and the paint could use a teeny bit of touching up here and there.

As I'm a poor student, I've never been anywhere near a real magpul anything, let alone had a chance to use this stock. I'd go for this simply because of the price and availability. It's sturdy enough and I love it to bits. if you've got the spare cash to hand, by all means go with the real one. But I like the clone! :D

  12. Sgt Carter, yes, they are; I've lost the bolt stop catch and 'rear-wired' the gun to take a battery in a pouch on the stock before these parts all arrived. Wrapped it in paracord so it looks nicer than just red and black wires.

Ghost; Started life as an AIM M4, Long, long ago, when I was considerably richer for not buying all there bits. You can l;iteraly count the original parts on one hand, methinks... lets see....

    > Pistol grip & parts

    > Gearbox Shell

    > Cylinder

    > Cylinder head

    > Anti Reversal Latch

    > Bevel Gear

    > Tappet plate

    > Spring Guide

    > Plate behind the stock tube and the screw that holds the stock tube on

I think that's it. Okay, two hands, but as you can see, I'm, REALY grasping at straws to find stock parts. everything else, and I MEAN everything, is a third party part. A fair whack is G&P; Delta ring assembly and receiver, mainly. Oh, and the piston.

EDIT - before anyone notices it and calls me a blasphemer or something, the torch is a Duracel jobbie I got from the local asda, bolted on using a standard scope ring :D Does the job!

  13. Right, Terrible quality pictures from my phone... The gun is actualy a lot more epic in real life :D

    Img03.jpg

    Img04.jpg

    Img06.jpg

    Img05.jpg

    The bits recentley added are...

    ACM CASV Set

    ACM Magpull CRT Stock

    ACM Aimpoint & Mount

    Element Noveske Flashhider

    Dboys PEQ Box

    Prometheus 6.03 Tightbore

    King Arms Vert Grip

It's absolutely brilliant. Personaly, I'd have liked it if i could use my QD silencer with it and have it starting just inside the CASV set, but that's life, you don't get everything you want.

Probably cost me around £600 so far, and it's still not finished.. *cringes*

Very likely to qualify for the 1k club, though, as that's in IS dollars...

  14. I love the fact that anybody posting their gun in the middle of an argument gets totally ignored... ^_^

Anywhoo, no pictures from me at the moment, but It seems that my Package of parts from RSOV has FINALLY arrived, so If they have I'll do my utmost to put them together and show off my spanky new armalite :D

  15. Congrats on owning the world's most overengineered single-shot manual repeater ;)

Seriously though, where is the gas being tapped off the barrel in order to cycle the action automatically? (let's imagine as if it was a real firearm). The front sight post is actually a gas block and the beginning of the gun's gas tube, it would be a very nice touch to leave at least the bottom part of it on, or come up with a custom part of your own design...

Just my geeky five cents ;) Sweet little gun, though... I'm sooo seeing it as a sniper's backup/emergency weapon. I don't think the scope would be comfortable, though... my 7x50 sits higher than that and is still almost impossible to use with body armor, tac vest and k-pot on.

Lol, I'm aware that it's not the most realistic little thing in the world, but meh :D

I'd have left the front sight on if I could have, but the bit it attaches to is, you guessed it, on the part of the barrel I removed! I've reassembled it to a 'normal' m4 now, so it's not really a problem ;)

I may well get my hands on a Flip up front sight and another outer barrel from RSOV, and go nuts; ultra-chopped foregrips with a vertical grip to hang onto? I'd tap that! :D

The cope is in no way usable; it does wit too low, and it can in fact only fit due to the fact that the foregrips aren't properley attached! :D However, as I said, it's just on there 'cause I thought it looked a bit bare with nothing on the rail :)

As for a sniper backup.. Well, as I said, it's the length of a 'regular' M4; it's bigger than it looks. Hardly a pistol armalite, unfortunately! I'd probably much rather take a Glock 18c with an extended mag as a sniper backup - it's a LOT smaller! :D

  16. Right, My M4 has been stripped, checked, and reassembled, so I've now got pictures of it! I set it up in a poor-mans M4SD Setup; I've got a two-piece outer barrel, so I took the front section off, popped the flashhider on the end of the section that was left, and attached a Classic Army QD Silencer to that. Froregrips went on, and the whole lot went back together. I slapped a scope on it as well, as I thought it looked a bit bare with nothing on the rail. The carry handle looked silly, as there was no front sight. Anyway, pics...

    M4scope1.jpg

    M4scope2.jpg

Nice, eh? Couple of pics without the scope now...

    M41.jpg

    M42.jpg

I quite like the short config, it looks rather tasty... But needs something to hold the foregrips on properly. The barrel in it is just the standard one; it stops a little bit short of the end of the silencer, and the whole thing is actually about the same length as a regular M4!

Most likely I'll have that sort of setup with my CASV rail, if it arrives in time for my next skirmish... Although it looks like it won't, it's been in the air between here and hong kong for the past four days, apparently o_O

EDIT - So, yeah, Bathroom pics with a phone camera. Apologies for the poor quality... I'll have to nab a decent camera when the CASV kit appears ^_^ Also, watch out for my reflection in the third pic - Seems I'm not quite as ninja as I'd have hoped ;)

  17. Ah, that's one nifty magazine! But I'd still rather have the old VN style mags. which is a point, I swear I saw a box of STAR or MAG VN style mags, probably locaps. Do these actually exist, or was I just dreaming or something?

I'm going to have to have words with the guy who's currently hanging onto my M4 and get it back... Preferably before all my bits arrive from hong Kong, too :D

At The very least, i want to whack my silencer on it and see if I can shorten the barrel...
