  1. how much work did the stock take on the sawn off?

To make it fit, just some trimming on the G&P metal body, mainly removing the "lip" on the top rear. As for the grip, just some filing down in order for it to sit flush. As long as you have a dremmel handy, the work shouldnt take any longer than 10 minutes.

Oh, and the stock was purchased as is. It is a Speedfeed "Witness Protection" set; comes with a foregrip too but it looked like it would be way too much work to make it fit. They also make this in wood too if anyone is interested. Just google "speedfeed" and "witness protection"

Majority of these kits were made in 2.5 inch and became direct imports to Japan, retailing for aprox 113,400 Yen. The 4 inch shown here is a prototype, not yet available as far as I know.

Solid piece of work, very clean detailing and the inner guts are encased by itself (Original uses a separate zinc place inside the plastic body) Night and day compared to the ZEKE kits, but then again, the ZEKE kits cost 5 times less.

  3. external: Guarder frame, slide & steel outer barrel, Laylax trigger & Kimber rubber grips.

internal: Guarder recoil & hammer spring, King arms floating valve & piston head set, X-fire 05 barrel & KM hop packing.

280 FPS w/ .03g bb's. Pretty decent range but no so impressive blowback after 5th shot or so; I think the magazine cools down too quickly. Just a handy piece to keep as a sidearm...

  4. so your stubby was over 400fps out of the box? (with 0.2) :o WTH

    ...changed the following parts:

Replaced the Hop-up Chamber & arm with the First Factory Strike Chamber set.

Replaced the hop-up Bucking with a Soft Kurage packing.

Replaced the inner barrel with a Prometheus barrel (cut down only about 1 cm longer than the original)

    Results:

Gun fires a clean 340-350FPS with .25g bb's (via Guarder chrono)...

Out of the box, as-is I was getting 325FPS with .25g.

  5. I recently purchased a Stubby myself and changed the following parts:

Replaced the Hop-up Chamber & arm with the First Factory Strike Chamber set.

Replaced the hop-up Bucking with a Soft Kurage packing.

Replaced the inner barrel with a Prometheus barrel (cut down only about 1 cm longer than the original)

    Results:

Gun fires a clean 340-350FPS with .25g bb's (via Guarder chrono) with great range & fairly good shot consistency. Once in awhile a stray shot with exaggerated hop-up, but for the most part, pretty straight flight.

Initial impression is very good, especially given its low price and my low expectation to begin with. However, cant really make an assessment yet since I haven't put this to heavy use. We'll just have to see if the internals hold up after a few games or not, and/or if the gearbox starts to sound out of whack anytime soon. Will post an update later...

  6. probably this best place to ask about these...anyone seen/used these(http://www.cobraairsoft.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=93&products_id=2290) before on TM Hi-Capa? I snapped the stock front sight(dumb hand) when I tried to adjust it, so I was looking for my option(the usual glow sight) then I saw this set....it does cost twice the price to replace just the front sight but I am not fan of the fibre optic look especially on what I am making my Hi-Capa to look like....

I have the 9-ball front sight for sale if that all you need.

  7. I think with most metal add-on/replacements, you have to fine tune certain contact points to your satisfaction. This one in particular has had no problems or issues, cycles as smoothly as it was when it was stock. Most of the Hi-capas in our group use FA frames of one style or another, but no horror stories in terms of fitting or function. The Inner barrel I'm using is a PDI 6.05mm.
