The ability to wear sunglasses...ballistic ones....for me makes the Black Bear the better choice. Thanks for the review.

Thanks! The lower face mask is the Russian one made by Brass Guard. I ordered them earlier in the year from the EU distributor who has since stopped using Brass Guard due to BG's failure to deliver product on time. Waiting to see if another manufacturer starts producing this particular product. I was extremely impressed with it.
Nice....I might like to get one of those facemasks. Would they work with regular ESS turbofans?

Looks good!
I like the idea of modding the pants to fit the knee pads. What face mask is that?

I am looking for something that rides higher. I modded my Safariland, but I am not 100% happy with it. I have had an HSGI leg platform in the past, and liked it.
Figures with my luck Khaki is out of stock for RH on the SKD website. Bummer.

Looks to be a Safariland in a HSGI UDHP.
Thanks! Looks exactly like what I am looking for. The search is on!

If you round the corners a bit more it'll help with the profile. The biggest noticeable discrepancy would be the flare at the back of the helmet. Can it be heated and bent in a bit? Another touch you may want to add, is some trim to the edges you modified. I've seen some people use generic door edge guards (basically the generic plastic U channel strips that you can buy from automotive stores to protect the metal edge of your car door, like this) to great effect. The generic ones are pretty cheap.
What uscmCorps just said. I would sand the edges a bit....and make them a bit cleaner. They look rough in the picture. If you are using the door trim from the automotive stores, they have adhesive in the channel already. I would suggest adding some of your own, such as a window silicone sealant or something just to make sure it does not come off.
uscmCorps..did you get my PM?

By far the most comfortable and secure helmet I have ever owned.

I'm also super impressed by the Sordins. Incredibly more clear and nicer than my Peltors. Such an awesome investment.
Outstanding !!! That is just insane looking. Lucky guy you!
Review: Merrell Sawtooths
in Clothing and Load-Bearing Equipment
Posted
I have had my Sawtooths for about 2 years now. They took a long time to break in. One of the rivets for the laces popped out, and $10 repair at my local shoe repair. For what its worth, they are a good boot, but I think they are better and lighter options out there.
