  1. Maybe if you could source a real DD RIS II barrel nut separately, that perhaps would solve the problem.
  2. Look on the internet for a guide for Lite rail installation, you should find one. The DD RIS II installs the same way. As you no doubt have guessed, it requires the removal of the stock delta ring and barrel nut, not a very difficult task if you have the right tools (AR armorer's wrench and some sort of bench vise would be ideal). If the front receiver thread and diameter of the WE is real steel spec, I don't see how it won't fit. The Omega rail was specifically designed such that the the stock delta ring and barrel nut assembly is still used, yet the rail achieves free float (i.e., bette
  3. Good luck to you! It (the chamber cut, if you will) looks vastly different to me, but if you think you can do it, I'd be very interested in your report.
  4. By barrel I meant both inner and outer. Both are very far from "drop in" to the WE from the knowledge posted so far.
  5. It has already been reported that AEG barrels do not fit the WE. As for the bearing, that's a small step in the right direction.
  6. That's great to hear. What is the WE rep's contact info, if you can divulge that? If not, any word on what aftermarket parts are in the pipe? Nary a squeak from the usual suspects (G&P, etc), or even ones who have publicly tested the WE (RA-Tech).
  7. Thanks for the clarification. However I believe the WGC custom version has always been the AFC version. In fact WGC was the first place where the AFC version came up, so some people (me included) were thinking they were doing it themselves. As for the bolt catch and bolt carrier material, someone has proposed a magnet test. Iron alloy/steel is ferromagnetic (so magnets stick) while zinc is diamagnetic (should show little or no interaction with magnets).
  8. Well, you can get those versions into the US from overseas right now. I'm not sure whats new on 20th Jan.
  9. Have you tried degreasing and regreasing yourself (with a less viscous lube, perhaps spray silicon)? Anyone else have this problem?
  10. The shell deflector does look conspicuously smaller on the WE in those comparison pics. The forward assist also sticks out more. Upon looking at some real steel pics, seems like the WE looks more spot on. Not sure why Ino/WA went with oversized shell deflectors.
  11. The linked item doesn't attach anything like a KAC RAS. If anything, the DD RIS II is light years ahead of the KAC RAS. There's no way to know without trying, but, as a guess, these ACM items are usually direct copies of the real steel item, so I wouldn't be too surprised if they fit a WE. If it doesn't then oh well, its $70 bucks down the drain, not $350. The actual DD RIS II unit mounts rock solid, and from the looks of it, this knock off copies it pretty well.
  12. From what has been reported here, assuming a nonleaky magazine in fair temperature (say, above 15 degrees Celsius), a full charge of green gas in a magazine can go through ~60 shots. The magazine can only hold 30 BBs at a time, so there is no doubt that this is definitely more spendy in the long run than an AEG.
  13. A wikia would be an easy way to do it.
  14. Thanks for the corrections Lt. Fenix. Since I don't own the WE M4, I'm just passing along info second hand.
  15. I'm sure you could get something, just blurred.
  16. "Edgerton EG&G 549 microflash at 1/2.000.000" is the answer. 1/2e6 is an impossibly fast shutter speed, so this can only be done with a strobe flash. If you goto a tech school, you might have a strobe lab. O/w, great stuff Trasher, good mix of HDR in there too.
  17. The Chef: Never been a comprehensive review, but a lot of good info has been posted. Start reading around page 35, that's right around where Lupus and Jin received theirs. You'll skip through the pre-release gossip. Here are a summary of the issues, correct me if I am wrong: General: - External build quality is good considering the price - The front receiver thread and the buffer tube thread are both in "real steel" spec. The included buffer tube is mil-spec dimension. - The upper rail is not as "in-spec" as the Ino MTW, as demonstrated by a Youtube video fitting real optics an
  18. Sounds like a good idea IBICO. I would definitely help you out, but I don't have a WE. However, the method you defined would require the person to have a rail, which is not included on the stock WE (I think you are trying to gauge stock performance, right?), maybe you could just clamp at the magazine or the receiver: it's closer to the mass center, and you won't induce barrel flex via gravity moment, which might have a noticeable effect on results. I hope you get a good set of data for at least the WA and the WE.
  19. Nice review sir. Any news is good news.
  20. AFAIK there was never a non-hop version. There maybe one with an adjustable hop and a nonadjustable hop, but so far I've heard of the adjustable hop type.
  21. I don't know if that would be accurate. The AFC version has M4/"Property of US Govt" rollmarks. AFAIK military M4s don't have the "Law Enforcment/Government Use Only" engraved on the right side. That sort of thing is reserved for the commercial carbines, like the Colt 6920.
