  1. Thanks Rich :)

Kungfuchopsticks: As was mentioned, the P229's grips are wider, although I find that the gun sits more comfortably in my hand than my USP .45. I find there is little difference between the P226's grips and the P229's grips, so maybe the reason it doesnt feel right in Rich's hands is because the P229's grips are straight at the bottom, while the P226's has a outward curve.

  2. evansy: hawt. i was never a fan of the 10", but thats a beaut.

so whats exactly wrong with the star/ares MARS that makes everyone want to swap it out?

    -Joe

It's not even "not that great". More like, it's been designed like a cheap child's toy and without any consideration for actual use for aiming. i.e. completely useless.

    This video explains it all

  3. Finally! I picked up some real steel Hogue grips for the P228/229 for cheap. My dremel finally arrived today and I've fitted them onto my P229. The only slight complaint I have is that the grips were meant for the non-railed 228/229 lower frame, while mine is the railed lower frame P229 so there is a tiny bit at the back where the grip doesn't match the shape of the frame. However I'm pleased with this simple mod, it really makes the gun look great and better to hold.

Here I've laid out the real steel Hogue grips on the left and the stock KJW plastic grips on the right. One of the Hogue grips, you notice, has already been partially worked on.

A test fitting of the left side grip which I've more or less finished working on.

Dremelling the right side grip now.

Test fit after major work on both sides has been done. There was a significant gap so I removed them and pinpointed areas which were not fitting well, then dremelled them out slightly to improve the fit.

    The final finished product.

    Hope you like it :)

  4. Someone had an actual cheap chinese plastic unadjustable red dot cross sight on his Tar 21. Ironic that a cheap plastic chinese *suitcase* RDCS is still better than an expensive stock sight that comes with a STAR/ARES product.

In the spirit of the thread, I've joined the club.

  5. They don't have it. They're gonna contact Tanaka for me, which has me impressed. But why is it so hard to find a Tanaka M37 around damnit. And why is it that the only shop that has it in stock (War4) turns out to be rude, snobbish, and probably dishonest?! Urgh I don't want anything fancy like the steel finish, I just want the normal heavyweight one.

Anyone else have any online shops, be it HK, or even in Europe, to recommend?

  6. Aww thank you. I am looking for the specific one I mentioned tho. I got a silver one with standard grips already, as u can see, so now im after a black one with rubber grips. So far only found it on War4, but they were a bit nasty when I was asking them about their charges for shipping.

  7. I just slapped an ELEMENT 150% recoil spring in mine, and it's seriously snappy right now - it's incredibly good. I love this thing already.

I'm tempted to get the black or silver one, but I feel guilty about buying so many handguns recently. Then again, I've been thinking about the Tercel metal 1911 and the ILX baby Hi-Capa 3.8. Anyone got anything to say about either and how they stack up against the Army MEUs?
