  1. @Leon

I was in a similar predicament as you a few months ago - I do my best to make sure parts really fit together. I dont know details about your budget or resources but plan C is ~$40 and 10-60 minutes of work depending on your tools. IMHO given the level of personal detail in your AEG, this could be right up your alley. That or Im just nuts.

Anywho... Get an appropriately sized Madbull Daniel Defense barrel, sold by other retailers simply as Madbull adjustable barrels, that is made up of two parts. The first part is the portion that goes into the upper receiver and is held in place by the barrel nut. The second portion is the 90% of the barrel that fits in the former and is held by *very* tight tolerances and a set screw. The beauty of this is you can cut up to 4" off the barrel (varies by barrel) at the receiver end making any marks invisible after the barrel is re-assembled. You even have about 8mm of play in there to make some conservative cuts. Its an easy process if you have a compound saw or band saw. Probably going more towards the 60 minute estimate if you go at it with a handsaw or dremmel.

TL;DR: Pick the rail that suits you and your play style better, get a barrel that is one size bigger, then chop it the *fruitcage* back down.

  2. Neither artsy nor dim but it highlights the magazine collection. It sucks - magazines are the lifeblood of a good shooting gun but, in the airsoft world, a proper amount costs as much as another good shooting gun! Took this a while ago for the Magpul thread but never put it anywhere.

This poorly shows a growing QD collection. QD Surefire, QD RMR, and QD M203 are mounted.

ETA this probably doesnt fit the thread.

Im feeling inspired to do a few proper-like.

ETA Ive always been curious what a " youve acquired, dont use, and havent been bothered to sell" thread would look like. I have shipping boxes full of parts. Im sure thats nothing compared to some folks.

  3. Buy nice, or buy twice :)

I like that better than buy once cry once!

Well since today is so lively and Ive mostly been posting , heres a little something I drew up a month or so ago. Its a response to my receiver extensions that are a pain the *albatross* to install given one needs a long screw driver and needs the screw inside to align with the spring guide AND has to manage a wire inside the tube without destroying or otherwise pinching it. Then the LiPo has to share the tube with said wire leaving the connectors dangling out the back.

In a nutshell, its a QD receiver extension that allows for quick insertion of a LiPo battery, secure LiPo placement, wire protection and hopefully quick access to a PCB that shows the voltage when the outer tube is removed. The otherwise decorative castle nut serves as the lock in the QD mechanism.

Just food for thought! I really wish I had a mill :)

  4. That's what I thought, as it seems the Noveske NSR's are pretty decent as well... Maybe Troy set more conditions than everyone else.

I'd recommend the MFR though - The trades aren't bang on accurate, but there's no mention of Airsoft and there's nothing to stop a gas system working. Saying that, you're in the US - Buy a real one! :P

I already waste too much money on this stuff! Every time i get ready to get my rails, i see it as two skirmishable AEGs or one nice optic! I really want an RX30 :)

  5. It's a weird one really; Is your RISII the Mk18 style 9" or the 12"? From what I recall most people had issues with the 9". Madbull are a weird one, their MFR and the RISII I've currently got are brilliant - Fit perfectly, on-spec rails, nice trades, no 'airsoft only', nothing blocking the gas system.

On the other hand, their Troy TRX and VTAC rails are *fruitcage* appalling; Completely blocked when it comes to a gas system, blatantly, unnecessarily large 'MILSIM/AIRSOFT' only markings and a top rail that my Iron sights wouldn't slide onto.

Madbull seem to just like trolling people..

It sounds like a company to company issue. Since Madbull goes for licenses, the OEMs get a say in how the airsoft parts are made. In the case of Troy, they dont want anyone to get an airsoft part at a gun show. With the airsoft text on the body and a blocked gas port (because a low profile gas system going all the way into the upper receiver in an AEG is just as meaningless as anti-rotational pins) should keep even the clueless real steel buyer from getting ripped off with a Madbull product. I am certain thats an OEMs primary goal.

Im glad to hear the DD rails are pretty solid now, though! I would love an MFR!

  6. Whoops yeah thats a nice detail I left out. Long day!

Has anyone CNC engraved the missing elements onto a TM/WE/KSC slide? It seems the G on the WE slide needs another stroke then a few letters as well as "Gen4" to be complete. Seems like that would take a mill or engraver all of 30 seconds after getting set up. Im thinking the process may cost as much as a replacement slide but all the Prada parts, in my experience, always seem to offset the better looks with shittier performance.

    Cheers

  7. I *fruitcage* love Tupperware :) Two recent additions to the collection!

The WE's trades kinda suck but it is a blast to shoot. Good pop and all!

On a side note, the Madbull HEMS, Trinity, and Tident all share the same tube diameter so you can mix and match ends. The HEMS knurled end has a spring loaded mech that prevents the POI from shifting as it does with every other one of my suppressors. The WE and KSCs also fit fine in the Crye Gunclip but only the KSCs fit in the comparable SERPA.

Anywho... I was shooting a little wide so photos with the suppressor are just a massive blur. Doh! Looked much clearer on a 2" screen. So Ill close with a family shot.

  8. As I remember, SG was using VFC to make their AEGs.  Definitely not MB.

Its my understanding that Madbull receivers are made by VFC then engraved by Madbull. At the very least, all the receivers are designed to use VFC bolt releases, charging handles, etc.

Ive had no luck getting spare VFC parts to test, though.

  9. Hah! This is the best outcome - they acknowledge your reply, gently suggest that you falling head over heels onto the rifle might have exceeded its design parameters (but they'll think about how to cope with your special needs in the future) and best of all, they offer you a reasonably priced and intelligent solution. If only I could get that kind of support out of, oh, almost any manufacturer in airsoft!

Maybe theyll glue the bubble wrap on this time :)

  10. HK3P Gen4 G18C vs. TM Glock 17.

    Pic

Please oh PLEASE tell me that 18C is not "tan."

Im looking into a tan WE G19 Gen4 (love the G19) to replace my KSC G19 and 18C. I figure that would be a good choice if I end up with a real one for CC :)
