  1. I bought it from Janet at VFC, the bolt has gotten a fair bit of use so far and no sign of anthing but aesthetic wear yet.

While something like 6061 ally would be nice, providing that the bolt maintains function I'm not too concerened about the material compositon considering the price (35 USD with shipping direct from VFC).

Plans are in the works to refurbish my Mk18, please let me know how this bolt continues to perform.

  2.

Sorry but are you sure thats okay for the mag? I mean there wont be anything rusty after that would it?

Make sure you re-oil the spring before you put it in, otherwise it should be ok.

  3. CJ, are those C-cups or D-cups? :bleh:

Bring me a pair (pun slightly intended :blow: ) on Sunday will ya?

my 2012 project will be to turn a KJW M4 into a MK12 mod 1 sniper rifle, (using a G&P front end conversion kit and their GBB fixed stock) which should be easy enough to do, except that I'ma try to incorporate a hop arm shaped like the SCS spacer for greater accuracy. (will document all processes for great justice!)

  4. I don't see why not. I'll order one as well and see how that works out. Where did you see that they had this? I don't see it anywhere on the net.

It still looks a little iffy on the side that normally breaks.

  5. Not sure if the skeleton stock would be compatible. For the gas blocks though, I can say for a certainty that what is important is that your barrel nut holds your barrel in place and that there is absolutely no wobble. Gas block/tube is useful for stabilizing certain rails but if you want to do without it then that is your option.

My personal preference is that I can't stand not having a gas tube and gas block installed.

  6. Order one from JKWorks. There is a parts list on your manual and you can check out the prices (in Taiwanese currency) listed on the manual as well. Then send them an e-mail...

It's all over this thread if you backread a bit.

  7. you just need to replace the nozzle bit I think and you'll be ok. Next time, when in doubt and you are installing a new part that needs some modification to go in. Modify the part, not the gun.

  8. Fadz,

If you want, we can get together this weekend and disassemble our KJWs over some steamed dumplings. I know that Alfie and CJ would also be interested in this.

Oh, I got my other KJ's bolt stop problems fixed... Tightening the buffer tube was all she needed. I'll be turning the newer KJ into a Mk18 mod 1 via parts from my VFC Mk18.

Then I think I shall give my receivers a fine sanding and a spray over of black paint to give it that matte finish.

  9. Hey guys. It is the nut. This was both on the plastic and on the metal receiver. When I place the DD barrel, bracket, then the nut on the upper, I tighten it down and the nut only goes so far. It tightens down, but the bracket that the rail screws into is not held tight enough to the upper to not wobble. I tried screwing in the rail anyhow and it pops loose, making the unit wobble up and down horrible. I could try using a riser to bridge the two units together. I had a simular problem with the Madbull DD rail on a WE M4 gbbr. I find it strange since the threading on the two are different. The bridging method would most likely work just fine but I couldnt say for sure. A mutual friend of ours has a long riser I recently left to him that may work but I am not sure that reinforcement on the top rail would be enough. Any thoughts?

I'm going to be putting the same thing on my KJW. I've already attached the same type of rail to guns twice. One detatching and reattaching from my VFC Mk18 (which will donate it's parts to my KJ) and another G&P kit on an AEG.

The nut isn't supposed to hold the bracket steady, it is supposed to be steady once you screw it onto the rail and if it isn't, then there is something wrong. I've also found that a faux gas tube helps stability greatly.

If it all fails, I'm going to try putting a bigass washer/spacer in there to tighten it all up. Pictures as I get some work done later tonight.

PS. My KJW's arrived fresh and they already had the new bolt installed.

pps. PantheraTigris, I've seen your guns... they're fugly. ;-) Quit putting fugly rails on them!

  10. iv got the cqb version and i was just wondering if anyone had fixed the ever so slight wobble the the ris rails seem to have? any ideas?

Yes! I attached a G&P set of rails with the rail lock and presto! No wobble. Will post pics along with another KJ that has been turned into a Mk18 mod 1.

warning: The G&P ris is a bit difficult to install due to the details but once you get it on, it stays rock solid.

  11. The MK18 mod 1 comes with a steel trigger set among other steel internal bits. This part gave out roughly around the 1500 round mark, first by firing tri-burst on semi and then just utterly failing.

I fired maybe about 2000 rounds through the gun to date. The first bolt carrier broke just under 1000 rounds and the second one lasted just a bit longer.

I'm going to fix up all the issues with the gun and then probably sell it after putting the furniture on my new KJW and turning it into a mod 0.

Good things I can say about the gun are that the bolt-stop mechanism hasn't failed, the hop is nice and accurate, and the magazines haven't leaked.

  12. I've got the Mk18 mod 1 and the problems with that gun are the same as the problems you guys are experiencing with the 416.

I've broken 2 bolt carriers (same spot) Along with those breaks is the nozzle guide breaking in half.

The finish isn't so great either. There is a gap between the upper and lower receiver near where the buffer tube is and that has caused my upper receiver to crack.

Furthermore, the trigger mechanism won't last long and will soon stop shooting in semi-automatic.

I am so frustrated with this rifle and VFC is not responding to my e-mails.

  13. My KJW arrives in August. Can't wait!

Does anyone have experience with attaching a fixed stock to it?

I've seen a french site that has the gbb with a fixed stock and a youtube video of the gun being shot but nothing else on the subject.

Mr CJ Radge and myself are looking to turn our KJWs into Mk12s

For the meantime, I am going to transfer everything I can from my VFC Mk18 Mod 1 GBB over to my KJW.

    Thanks!
