  1. Ok, so from last night until just now, my KJW GBBR has gone from this:

    To this:

In response to just receiving my RS LaRue handguard. It is awesome. And I definitely enjoy SBRs -- the other one was a bit too heavy and "out there."

Now I need to replace the grip with a MagPul MOE or MIAD -- wasn't there some problem with those on the KJW? I am putting either my Troy BUIS or my LMT BUIS on there, and need to make a FH work with this incorrectly-threaded barrel.

    Thoughts?

Why are you posting pictures of your airsoft GBBR on AR15.com?

  2. Got a question to those with experience, I'm looking at a lower reciever with markings to replace my naked lower. Since I've never disassembled the trigger pack. How hard is it to strip the guts out and transfer them to the new lower? Does the trigger pack come out in one piece, or do you have to rebuild the sear, sear spring, hammer extra and then put them back in. I'd hate to spend the money, if it is a very challenging endevour to change out lowers.

    Thanks,

    Noob

Honestly I don't think it's really worth the trouble (or money) just to have trades, that's my opinion. If you choose to do so I can give you a quick rundown of the basic steps required.

First remove or loosen the pistol grip screw to relieve the tension placed on the fire selector (you can remove the grip but make sure you don't lose the spring or detent) , next carefully pull out the selector by rotating it side to side (you may need to hold the sear back). After removing the selector, using a screwdriver remove the brass screw that holds the trigger pack inside the lower receiver. Then using a pin punch, remove the pin closest to the magazine release button.

After that, the trigger pack should be free and can be lifted out from the lower receiver as a single unit. When pulling the trigger pack out, hold it upright making sure you don't tilt it, as the pin that holds the sear in place is loose and will slide out causing the sear and spring to come out of the pack. Also, watch out for part #66 and the spring that holds it in place, both are located on the side of the trigger pack, they tend to jump out sometimes.

Once you separate the trigger pack from the lower receiver, there is no need to disassemble it any further. Transferring the bolt catch, magazine release assembly, trigger guard, and front pivot pin is fairly simple. When transferring your buffer tube assembly, you will also be able to remove the rear take down pin. The last thing to transfer would be your buffer retainer pin and spring.

Having the right tools makes a world of difference. Good luck.

  3. They probably are, but it's not WE's fault that a few people (Americans ;)) keep running the gun in ridiculous temperatures, using CO2. Common sense might suggest that fast moving, full-metal parts may wear quicker under certain circumstances...

    Ben.

But what I'm also saying is that it WILL be addressed - I think WE have proved they care about their products and their customers.

That's your point of view and I respect that. Without derailing this thread any further, let me just add a quick note, I own several GBBR's including, 2 WE's, a WA and an Inokatsu Super Version.

The WE's were the only two that failed straight out of the box. (Purchased new from two different online shops, one being an "official distributor")

    Have a nice day Ben.

  4. 1./ Don't quote pictures - we've seen them already.

    2./ Obvious troll is obvious.

The PDW obviously has a design flaw, granted, but it's nothing WE won't fix. Don't generalise an opinion on all WE products from this one new gun.

These GBB rifles require tuning, fettling, and real maintenance - unlike an AEG that any idiot can pick up and use.

    Ben.

WE could care less about someone out there trying to back up their flawed product(s), but the line has to be drawn somewhere and those who plan on venturing into the GBBR world need to know what they're investing in and what they can expect from a company who has not improved the quality of their product since day one.

Now, you say my opinion is based on the failure of "one new gun"? Take the scar's cracking hinge plate for example, was that also a design flaw? I don't think so, these products need to be thoroughly tested due to the amount of force and pressures that take place in these systems.

I do however agree with you that GBBR's require regular cleaning and maintenance, but having to break down the system everytime you change a magazine to find out why your trigger wont work, why the hammer wont reset or whatever the problem might be, is not why we pay for a GBB rifle as opposed to an AEG.

  5. Buy at your own risk.

I would stay far far away from anything labeled "WE", their upcoming M14 is clearly off my list now. I wonder if GHK's pdw is any better than this ****.

  6. Thank god I didn't throw my money away on this one... I'm sorry to see that happen, I hope you can find a replacement lower. I was actually going to give WE another chance with this PDW, but after reading about it on other forums and seeing this here made me realize that WE hasn't stepped up their game (terrible hop up, inferior part materials, spare part unavailability, etc...). They'd rather churn out a variety of rifles plagued with the same problems as their first M4 instead of fixing or improving their overall system.

  7. Thanks for the trigger group pictures. :) I'll pass on this and save my $270 to purchase KWA's GBB M4. I could already see myself buying (or scavenging for spare parts online) for this after a couple of months of usage. Looks nice, but all previous WE's I have owned have been nothing but headaches and problems.

  8. Can someone help me out here? I installed the TSC steel hammer and TSC steel disconnector/sear as well as the steel part 66. Everything sort of works. When in semi auto I fire 2 rounds. One squeeze of the trigger fires 1 round, then when I release the trigger it fires another. Full auto works just fine. Sometimes I also can't switch between full auto or semi auto after firing a round, then I fire another round and the selector works again. I've read somewhere a while ago that something on the hammer has to be modified? I can't find this, can someone help me out and let me know what I need to do?

BTW IPSCGM is an awesome retailer. They always ship when they say they will, amazing communication and I always get my parts. They don't have a lot of parts listed on their site. This is mainly because they only list what they actually have in stock to sell! Anyways, I highly recommend these guys. Shipping time is a bit long. They are located in Macau (Hong Kong area).

    thanks!

    Bryan

I take it you're using the stock WE trigger? If so, that's your problem. The steel parts are eating away at the WE trigger's contact point (with the sear/disconnector).

Continued use will result in full wear and non-stop full auto when set on semi. Best advise would be to also replace the trigger with the TSC one (######), or go back to the original WE stock parts (also ######). I had the same problem as you and just went back to WE stock parts, now it's just a matter of time before they also wear out...

  9. You're absolutely right, it's rare to communicate directly with other manufacturers, but you know why? Because they have thousands of aftermarket part replacements readily available for their systems, and those users don't need to beg for a pot metal trigger or something as simple as a missing spring or screw.

I do hear that European shops are more consistent in keeping their parts in stock and carrying hard to find replacements. But why not here in the US?

The problem then is clear. WE needs to drop their current US based dealers and find a retailer that will frequently stock spare parts and improve their overall image. Airsoft Outlet NW is a joke, they carry a small handful of parts and they're completely out of stock. Evike? these guys won't order special parts even if their website mentions this:

"Lots of Optional Accessories and 100% Factory Part Support Provided by Evike.com Inc. Another Reason To Buy Yourself A WE MK16 ASC Today!"

A bunch of BS. If their M14's trigger group or any critical operation part is made of pot metal, it will be no different that the M4 series.

  10. Seeing as how WE is focusing on the M14 now, does this mean that all support for current M4/SCAR/416/PDW owners will cease? WE will not answer any emails regarding this, so it seems likely that we will never see those critical parts we need to fix our broken guns.

Just about all of WE's official retailers have been out of stock on spare WE parts for several months now, which leads me to believe that WE has stopped shipping parts to it's dealers and plans on "moving on" to their new gas system. Has anyone here had any luck contacting WE lately?

  11. Apparently there are good news coming for the WE long running problem, it appears there is a new trigger group coming, made from forged and CNC'd finished steel ( maybe a bit overkill but hey ). Let's hope the fitting quality is as good as the manufacturing process is.

Where did you get this information? And who is making these?

  12. So you're afraid of breaking a receiver or outer barrel ? I mean ... holy shinto  My M16 has a 4/5mm thick steel outer barrel that it's heavier than the gun itself.

There have been numerous reports of broken threads on the upper receiver, broken trigger guard ears as well as receiving factory broken uppers and lowers. Good luck trying to replace them.

Co2 might be the culprit behind the trigger set degradation, but aren't the newest WE GBBR's marketed as "Co2 versions"??? It makes no sense ordering a "Co2 version" if you can only use Green gas.

  13. Funnily enough, the thing discouraging me from going 100% WE is the price. I guess the phrase "Buy expensive, cry once. Buy cheap, cry every day"

This doesn't apply to WE. The problem here are the trigger parts, no matter how much you tinker or work on them you cannot fix the auto/burst fire problem. Eventually you will end up replacing these parts every 2 months or so. Everything else is "fixable", with time and money.

Also, one thing to mention, if your receivers, outer barrels or any other build parts should break you'll be out of luck trying to find a replacement. KJW will sell you these parts for their platform, and WA/WOC has many aftermarket replacements available as well. That's another problem that's never been mentioned.

  14. Just a quick question - with the newest version of the WE, have most of the problems been ironed out? Or is it probably more cost effective (in terms of time, money, and maintenance/repair effort) to get a WOC? I really love the way the WE seems to be shaping out, and also how fast they roll out improvements based on their close relationship to their customers. Just wondering if it's the right time to get one, or wait a bit more for the WE platform to mature like the Magna.

Just wait. A couple more months and many new manufacturers will be releasing their own GBBR's. KWA has the most potential to be the best GBBR platform in terms of performance.

I wouldn't hold my breath for WE. They haven't fixed the problems 3vi1-D4n mentioned since their M4 V1 release and most likely never will.

  15. Turns out the auto sear (part #48) was slightly bent, probably thanks to the jamming caused by the bolt going back too far. I thought I had found the root of the problem, but when I straightened it out the receiver halves wouldn't fit together!

Try moving the fire selector to "semi" or "safe" before closing the rifle. Usually if it's set on "auto" the receivers wont close completely.

  16. Without looking too hard there are two things;

My new mags have a small oring around the small metal pipe-thingie under the big feeding lips part. My old ones don't.

The end knob on the valve where the firing pin strikes is stainless (or similar) and a different shape from my oldies.

Can you please post a picture?

  17. The TSC assemby looks superior to the RA-TECH one I have, with increased surface area where the hammer strikes #61 and the beefy firing pin. Plus, you don't have to scrounge any parts from your stock assembly.

I have both TSC and RA-TECH.

I would not purchase TSC, their quality is questionable and whether it will fit without problems is another story. RA-TECH's parts are a direct drop in and require zero modification.

The beefy firing pin strikes the outer casing of the magazine, and causes cycling problems, and damaging the casing when this happens.

  18. WE-Tech or WETTI is doing a terrible job of supplying us with a reliable source of parts. Evike is a cool store with some cool employees, but they are notoriously unprofessional.

Not to mention their ridiculously inflated prices for replacement parts. Buying these parts overseas plus shipping is cheaper than ordering from Evike. They take advantage of us knowing how hard it is to acquire replacements.

    WETTI? Who was that again..

oh, the guy who came here to have cheap beta testers for his rifles and than left without a sound...

Yeah, he sure suckered everyone into buying "professional training weapons", made of cheap pot metal... Where is the support? Where are the readily available replacement parts? They answer to your emails but don't back up a single word they say.

  19. Just open a Paypal dispute, give it 2-3 days then escalate to a claim if AB doesn't respond. I waited for my order for over 2 weeks with zero communication. Luckily I was refunded my full amount through Paypal, and ordered my parts from another overseas retailer.

Stay away from Airsoft Buddy, they only offer one shipping method (EMS 3-4 day delivery) which isn't cheap, and they won't ship your items until they feel like it.
