I pretty much did that for 4 years, didn't have any problems, I would have put one in if I had the space but I didn't, and the gun's gone through quite an amount of abuse too.
+1
Go for it.

Same as SixtyNiner. Very happy with my Kobayashi motor.

I love the Marui recoil platform. Imo it`s one of the most innovative thing we`ve seen in airsoft for quite some time. Obviously the M4 based rifles are the flagships. But I think they did quite well with the AKs, Scar and G36s too. But I would love too see them expand their horizons even further.
Hopefully the HK417 is not that far away. After all VFC/Umarex will sooner or later finish their initial campaign with the 417. Hopefully Marui will obtain a license, like they did with the 416.
Marui has a proud tradition with the MP5. I would love to see that continue with a recoil MP5. Even more eager to see a recoil MP7. They already make a brilliant aeg MP7. But it`s a tiny package, so might be bit of a problem with the recoil unit.
But if Marui really were to be out of their way innovative, they would expand their horizons into the lmg market. Both the SF/MK3 versions of the Minimi (7.62 too) come with a retractable stock with a buffer tube. I think that would be very well suited for a recoil unit, along with a next gen V2 recoil gearbox in the receiver. The have already obtained license from FN for the Scar. So why not...
Batteries to be placed in the magazine, or in a peq.
Hoping for a FN Mag too. But that might be pushing it….
Hopefully the Marui staff are reading this. There is money to be made.

On the Spectre, the cutoff lever is removed, so everything is a digital button now. I will be meeting up with Frank tonight, and he'll be working on my weird possesed gearbox!
Any news???

Please report back!

This is going to be epic!
Sign me up for three units please.

Well, you`ve been waiting for about three years. You are allowed to be impatient.

Do yourself a favor. It`s money well spent.

Fully upgraded with prommy parts and Eagle6 M100 you will hit 350 fps spot on. Not that you NEED to do it. But there you go….
Range is very good.

Without access to internal documents it's impossible to be sure, but knowing Japan's strict trademark and copyright regime, I'd say it was probable that Marui have a license which covers Japan only.
Agree with you PS. Hopefully in the not too distant future we`ll be getting the 417 too. A blowback dmr with a Marui hop unit is very tempting.

Is it fair to assume that Marui has obtained a license from H&K? Or or is it more a case of the usual "we don`t care about copyright" stuff?

I`ve asked asked the same question about their cnc products, but they`ve never replied. But since Echigoya is located in Japen, maybe "soon" is a little bit quicker than in the rest of Asia.

Yeah! That`s not even clever marketing. Calling it "Devgru custom" and including a different tfg and the wrong suppressor. But when
have such minor details stopped the manufacturers from ripping off the customers? This is the free capitalist world after all.
He.., even China has grasped that concept. Apart from the freedom part that is….
I love the fact that TM released the standard HK416, it`s a winner for sure. But they could have done so much better with the so called Devgru custom thing.
Just relax. In about six months time we will likely see a significant price drop.

The standard Sopmod batteries are anyway. Lipos recommended.

Well, then the Prometheus internal upgrades ought to do the trick, along with an appropriate Eagle6 spring. M100 or M110 will probably get you where you want to be.
-
Happy days folks!
M100 springs are back in stock over at Eagle6. They`ve also aded the M95 spring to their line of products.
Ordered mine.

Right, ran this rifle this weekend at a 36 hour game at cope hill this weekend, some good points and bad points.
The mid caps. Absolutely rubbish the springs can't handle a .28 (all I had since I ran out of .25's)
Springs need to be removed from the mags and broken in since they get incredibly stiff after 80 or so rounds.
1 of my mid caps broke while being loaded, the little release switch on the top flew off.
Range was impressive, although not as much adjustability in the hop as I'd like it still performed admirably, and managed to rack up some nice hits with it.
For it's first proper game I was pleased with the performance not pleased at all with the mag but oh well back to action hobbies it goes, I'll let you know whether they honour the warranty or not.
Have the same problem with my mags. They don't feed bbs heavier than 0.25, and that`s no good for a marksman rifle. Can someone please tell me how I can access the springs in the mags. I tried to remove the base plate of a mag, but with no luck. I did not use too much force as I did not want to break anything.

It has been tried. Won`t work.
-
I also suspect that it is made from better metal than the original lock ring. But I may stand corrected on that one.....
-
The threads runs deeper, preventing the buffer tube coming loose. Echigoya has been out of stock for some time.
Still available at Eagle6: http://eagle6.co.uk/shop/laylax-hard-buffer-ring-castle-nut-for-tm-sopmod.html

Getting a new lock ring is probably the most important upgrade you can do.
-
Anyone tried the Laylax dual mag catch? I`ve been told they are no good.
-
Just a little heads up for those of you looking for a gear box shell.
They are now in stock at Eagle6, limited numbers.
