  1. I did the latter in my 97 and just used a tamiya-tamiya plug extender (I use a battery bag). I didn't want to permanently mess with the wiring until I knew I had the battery format right. I now have a MOSFET on the way with the wires super extended for the front end.

With the 97B, the wiring is already long enough to poke out of the front end and PEQ/bag up as you like.

If you don't mind which mosfet did you order and were are you planing on place it? Mine is right under the battery pack.

  2. Question: Does the PEQ-box mod require a rewiring? Or can you just use the stock tamiya plugs and feed them out of the hole in the hand-guard?

You will have to extend the wiring or replace it to do the mod. I always replace the stock wiring and change over to den plugs to get rid of the restance that it causes. If you go with the mod it would be a great time to add a mosfet to it ;)

  3. Same here on the upper/lower handguard thing - but only when I give it a bit of torque ;)

On a different note, I learned on Airsoft Mechanics how easy it is to install a 'fet on one of these, courtesy of hunterseeker5. It's post #20. I suspect the OP is the same wilekcmc, so many thanks :)

Yep, i am the one who ask for help on the mosfet, the guys over there are outstanding. Glade it was able to help you out ;)

  4. Recently got a Type 97b, just wondering if everyone has the same 'gap' mine has.

On the left side of the gun, where the polymore stock meets the upper and lower receiver it sticks out about 2-3mm.

Everywhere else it seems to hug the stock quite well.

    I`ll take a pic when I can.

Please post some pics, i would like to see what you are talking about. Hopefully in anther 2 weeks i will be getting my T97B model.

  5. Today was the first time i was able to shoot a couple of mags off and was trying different batteries out. One thing i noticed was the trigger was very responsive no matter what battery i tried.

Anyone else notice this, i have done no upgrades and its still right out of the box.

Yep its got the new gun smell ;):P;):P LOL

  6. Does anybodyknow a way to get me a RS svd T3 gearbox, i kinda broke mine.

airsoftfreaks (only distributor in belgium) is to "fruitcage" slow (ordered since september)

an rs itself does not reply to mails

Its Chinese New Year Holiday and they are more then likely closed until Feb 22? Sorry don't know how long there New Year Holiday is (i want to say 2 weeks).

  7. Before i start this off, I need to thank Golgo 13 for installing a AB Mosfet to my T97, the reason for this is the lipo 11.1V battery was causing a double fire on semi auto.

Will my final upgrades to the AEG are finished, the ab mosfet, upgrade wiring, 90SP and lipo 11.1V battery.

The 90SP shoots between 289 to 300fps, still in legal limits for Japan (1J Law)

Now for the ROF with different batteries:

    NIHM 9.6V = 15 Rounds Per Second

    Lipo 7.4V = 12 Rounds Per Second

    Lipo 11.1V = 20 Rounds Per Second

Here is the sound bite for this and they are interesting numbers, the only thing left to due is wait for the snow to melt and get this thing on the field.

  8. One thing I don't think I saw mentioned in your review, Wilekcmc. It's going to sound weird but... how does it smell?

I just got my Type 56 today. Being the owner of a TM AK, the one biggest difference is that the Type 56 SMELLS like a gun. Sorry, I am a weirdo like that. But the smell is glorious. :D

If i can stop laughing, and get the stupid grin off my face :shutup2::whistling::offtopic2: LOL

It smells like machine oil, the inside of the gun was soaked in it.

  9. Weird. They must have changed the length of the T97 rubber since I bought mine. I think I claimed earlier in the thread that my T97 rubber was longer than standard. However, I too measured against a Prometheus purple and it was about the same length.

Did your FPS remain constant with the change of hop rubber?

    The FPS wont matter because everything is going to change now with these upgrades;

SP90, rewired it with 16 awd silicon wire, new soft hop up and the PEQ15 Red Laser & 11v lipo.

But i will try it with a 9.6v for you and see what happens.

My goal is to get as close to 300FPS as i can, 328 FPS is the limit here.

Have you done any mods to yours?

  10. For those of you that have been waiting on y mod for the PEQ15 Red Laser & Li-Po battery here it is.

    1. You will need a small rail like the one shown in my picture, a battery box, a drill, drill bits and wire.

    2. Mark where you want your holes drilled and double/triple check to make sure they line up with the rail and battery box.

    3. Drill your holes, mount the rail, battery box and rewire your AEG for what ever type of battery you choice.

    Here are some pictures:

  11. Here is anther part of my review on the T97

    Performance

This AEG fires an average of 14 rounds a second or 840 round a minute, not bad for a stock AEG. Here is the sound bite form this test.

    gallery_66130_1680_1204.jpg

    Range

The range I tested at was at 25 meters and every shot had a tight grouping, BB's used was SIIS .2 grams. Sorry no pics for this too much snow and ice outside.

    Chrono

Well for a 1J spring the AEG was shooting between 247 & 250 FPS on nearly every shoot, again SIIS .2 bb's were used. No hop up used for this test, remember I live in Japan so only 1 joule is allowed.

    Pros

I find that the Type 97 is a well balanced AEG, most of the weight is in the rear of the gun and the pistol grip is at the right length for me. Having the mag in the rear of the gun I find this AEG to be well suited for both CQB or as your Standard Assault Rifle. Mags are easy to come by if you stay with the metal ones, I tried the Real Sword Mid Cap, Airsoft Elite High Cap, and the King Arms Magpul mag (but you will need to file down the outer lip on the left side of this mag, it is a tight fit). All of the material used are of high quality and fit well to gather. This is the standard that I have found with all of the Real Sword Products.

    Cons

The only thing I have against this AEG is the battery, it requires a brake down of the AEG each time you remove or install a battery. See my mod section to see what I have done to fix this problem

    Personal Opinion

This is what I think of the Real Sword Type 97, for the dollar value and quality of manufacturing. I can't beat it, very few companies try to keep true with the real steel weapons, but Real Sword has kept true to making a fantastic replica. Yes I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for an AEG that gives you great performance and is an eye catcher every were you take it.

    Mods

Mounting a PEQ15 Red Laser & Li-Po battery between the front site and the carrying handle.

    Installing a Mofest

Wiring upgrade to 16 AWG Silicone Wire

Upgrade spring to shoot 300 fps

  12. Looks good my friend, You need to crack open that gearbox now! :D

Thanks Golgo 13, i was going to ask for your help when the time came for that ;) Planing on adding the mosfet, 16AWG silicone wire, softer hop up rubber and that custom battery mount all at the same time. hint hint :rolleyes:
