2005, feels like a lifetime ago.
Still have my gear but been out of the game since the last MorningAfter Event so thats like 9 years now.
While it wasn't the sole reason, the VCRA put a massive dampner on things and i feel thats had a chilling effect for new players too.-

To get more greengas / propane into the tanks, stick the tank in the fridge / freezer for 10/15 mins at most then try filling them (not sure what the overpressure resistance is like in these tanks so no idea if this is safe with them)

A box of 50 9mm blanks is 18.95 which works out at 38p per shot.

Except you now have only one tab under more stress then before.
This gun is a massive fail, the number of niggles keeps going up with it.
Face it magpul have pulled a fast one; asking what ever it is for a pile of *suitcase*. -
And charge you 20 quid for a 20 second job ! £1.00 pound a second , now that's what I call an earner
Except they was doing a free downgrade on the spring so the above is wrong as far as i know.

The mag release is the main worry i currently have with this - it is very very stiff and can only be pushed from one side.... some one will come up with a bad leaver type thing for it i hope.

I had a fondle of one of these at my local store, despite all the nay saying and grumbles I was satisfied (my store kinda hates the fact I can pick fault with almost everything they have) with the compactness, feel and the trigger system/response. The battery is a bit of a fickle thing and I did rage at the presence of tamiya connectors BUT, I didn't see anything that made me think this wasn't worth the cost - I fully expect a Magpul gun to cost a bit more due to the materials involved and the scale of production leading to a higher cost price.
And while there is the 'ugh, ARES' association from a tech perspective (and now, ethical with the China Lake issue), I'd be hard pressed not to consider purchasing one.
Keenly awaiting more shooting/gameplay reports but I didn't see anything that points to it being a 'bad' gun.
Had a play with one in Patrol Base and i raged too when i saw the tamiya connector :s
