  1. Not yet, as they have 2 flaws that need to be adressed. I'll put them up on shapeways once I make sure they work fine.

Or did you mean as in print it with your own printer?

    Cheers!

He wants to print one with his own printer.

Yep! That was the plan! Print and perhaps modify slightly depending on the outcomes

  2. A bit of 3d printing fun!

Based on something I saw on the Nighthawk customs facebook, Tall sight + RMR platform!

Any chance you've put these models up on YouMagine or Thingiverse?  I'd like to have a go printing one.

  3. Haha, fair opinion. I fancied a change from my normal 1911, but didn't fancy the double stack grip of a hi-capa.

I've got the normal one in the standalone kit at the moment, rather than the other way round as in this picture!

  4. Finally got an MEU slide for my 1911 :D I just can't get the DyTac rear sight to fit properly :(

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/evansy/airsoft/Pistols/SDC13658.jpg

Does anyone know if a hicap rear sight will fit? I have a 5ku blow back unit installed too.

I had to file down the parts on the 5ku BBU to get the dytac sight to fit, doesn't take much though, best bet is to take the BBU out of the slide and try to fit the sight directly to it (see if the hole matches up with the part under the slide) then slowly file away the offending sections until it fits.

Took me about 5/10 mins? I should suspect the hi-capa sight has the same issue, I think the problem is the 5ku dimensions (I may however be wrong!)

Had to do this to two different BBU's.

  5. Does anyone know if an MEU slide and frame would with 1911A1 components? Ehobby have a stock TM MEU slide and frame which I've got my eye on for an update on my old 1911

Yes and no. Having done the same I'll point out problems I ran into. Frame is absolutely fine, Trigger unit is a drop in fit. Grip safety wasn't for me (I was using an aftermarket one, it didn't have the notch seen just underneath the hole in the first picture HERE. This might be the same as the stock TM 1911 grip safety so you might be ok)

Slide is a different animal. You'll need new sights (HERE) and a new blowback unit (HERE Notice the notch in the top of the 5ku unit compared to the stock TM 1911 unit, this is to fit the Novac style sights).

Apart from that! You're good to go! :P

Have done it on 2 different TM 1911's now, frankly I love the fact ehobby sells the original slides and frames! Keeping my eye out for a Hi-capa 4.3 set :P

  6. ICS with MOE hand-guard and stock. Originally I only planned to change the hand-guard when I changed the barrel, but then a stock came up in the For Sale section! Couple of elbow grease related mods (such as screwing on a new delta ring by hand :S) and the front end is now rock solid! The stock is also pretty stiff on the ICS tube, I was going to change the tube to a non-ICS but frankly I don't move the stock around mid game etc. so meh!

    post-6976-12760898597214_thumb.jpg

Fairly simple, but that's how I like it! I doubt I'll put anything else on here except maybe get some Pmags (The ICS pistol grip is pretty comfy so I won't change that!)

  7. Two questions, 1: I'm assuming those are the standard S&W 629 speedloaders your using? And 2: is there anywhere in the UK to get spare shells from? Can't really see the point in putting together an order from HK just for 2 sets of shells!

  8.

Do you use a bipod on any other guns? Or do you find yourself prone defending much.

Personally I prefer my SV (just because I like the big hand guard) but the best thing to do is ask yourself if you want dedicated sling points or a bipod?

Oh and remember some people have attached slings to the front part of the carrying handle so just because you don't have sling points doesn't mean you can't have a sling! (and there's always 1 point slings anyway)

Apart from the big obvious differences (sling points/bipod, hand guard, Outer barrel, the weird lip at the front of the fore-grip, etc) they are absolutely the same finish wise so you'd be better off picking for, either, what is more practical, or what you personally prefer. Both are nice and you shouldn't be disappointed by your choice.

  9. Love the SWAT kits. If I hadn't gone and bought some Delta kits before they came out I'd be all over it!

In fact, I still might. If only I could find a Nash compensator....

The wood grips look great though. Don't let anyone persuade you to change them!

  10. My current quiver...

And a few extra pics of the 6mm BE M500, just because ^_^

I like em both a lot, but I really need to get some kind of buttstock with a pistol grip for that M500. The Surefire adds a lot of weight to the front end of an already heavy gun and it's a real strain on the wrist holding it with the traditional style shotgun stock. I think I'm gonna go with a Knoxx SpecOps adjustable stock if money allows.

Got a Maruzen M870 BV coming at some point in the future, but the slow boat from HK is...well... slow

Is the BE full metal? I'm wondering because my current conversion of an ACM M3 will take it to a very similar configuration to your M500 (without the heat shield) and I honestly didn't think about the weight of it!

    Looks nice though!

  11.

Don't suppose anyone can get an 'up-close and personal' (or just big) picture of the M1014 style rear sights? Looking into putting some better sights onto my M3 so I'm seeing if its at all possible to fabricate one.

Or does anyone know where you can get a rear sight on its own?

  12. Speaking of Cassi goodness...

Here's a few starter pictures of my new Tanaka Cassiopeia M500. I need to work on the orange but for the moment I thought it would be worth putting up a few before pictures. I haven't had time to test the power/accuracy of this gun yet but it has a lot more potential than the Cassi SAA does (I own both now). I also got 15 shells with this gun which is kind of fun. The whole thing is just ridiculously huge. Until you have held one in person you really cannot grasp the size (from just looking at pictures).

    *Sigh*

I had the chance to get one of those too as I was in the market for an M500 when they came out. Went with the standard (alright not so standard, midnight blue!) version because at that point everyone was unsure how HMG would react.

Turns out they were fine here in the UK but got banned before I could pick one up!

Still, very happy with my normal version! Its fairly hard to skirmish with a revolver anyway so one with shells would have been a nightmare!

  13. For reference I've found (with a standard Famas tightbore and cylinder) that a M105 spring will get you ~350fps and a M100 ~340

Oh and the standard gears have one of the fastest gear ratios (incl. aftermarket sets, I'll dig out the article)

Basically mine was firing at ~350fps and still pumping out ~25rps (with a 9.6v)

That was a year ago. I took it apart to downgrade it slightly the other day and there is no signs of wear on anything.

So if you read any part of this post ==> Its a good gearbox! :D

  14. Ahh see the suppressor I use (while being much too fat) extends in, therefore meaning I either run a stick battery in the G36 rail or I do my current project and create a sort of 'Crane stock' affect on the rear end.

Pics should be up on Airsoft Builds by the end of the week as I kind of want to neaten everything up a bit before I take some photos.

But as this is a picture thread, here's a crappy picture (actually meant to be of my slightly browncoats/scifi inspired loadout) but there really was only one choice of gun to use!

  15.

    There's not much point tbh.

M- magazines can be modified (with a small modification to the famas magwell) to fit quite easily. And you retain the use of Famas magazines too.

Putting the G36 STANAG adapter would involve A LOT of work and considering the only benefit really is use of anyone's M- magazine (and surely if you wanted to use M- magazines you would already have your own) it just really isn't worth it.

Oh and those STANAG adapter's need modifying anyway to make the M- magazines a snug fit so....Go figure.
