  1. Great info Sid. I just got my WE Hi Capa a week ago and I really like it. The only problem I've had is a leaky mag. Kick, power, and sound are all good. I was thinking about getting the KWA G19 but bought this gun instead simply because 1911 type guns are pretty and glocks are ugly :P and I also got it for really cheap at jungletoy. I've had no problems w/ it locking back after the last shot on green, the grip safety works fine, and the rear sight is adjustable by turning the screws. CO2 mags can be found at airsplat:

    http://www.airsplat.com/itemdesc.asp?CartI...2%2DMAG&eq=&Tp=

35 rds and airsplat is supposedly the only US retailer carrying it.

I would recommend this gun to others. Can't beat the value for the price!

  2. I just did a rough count of how many guns of different types I own at the moment and it's around 40.

    :o

    :nosleep:

    That is alot.

And that is a VERY nice display/storage cabinet you've got going there. Wonder what would happen if police raided the house and saw that... :D

  3. Hey, I like the pics evilhippy. :) Definitely seems like all the rifles w/ launchers I've seen seem to have the heatshield mounted m203.

Is the gun a CA and the gernade launcher TM? Just curious how much you spent on the m203 and where you purchased it from? Thanks!

  4. Me, I want to know why nobody has bolted an M203 to an airsoft M4 and left the top-half of the foregrip in place. I'd love to see one built like that. It's surely the most realistic?

Isn't that how most m203's are mounted if they are not RIS (w/ the exception of the heat shield version)?

    See?

  5. Very nice... I just got one not too long ago. I was going to pimp my rifle into a sniper but from what I've read, it isn't too practical unless you plan on putting someone's eye out (super high fps). I'm thinking about going the m203 route. Now if I could just find a cheap ca or g&p m203...

    Btw, what's your s/n? I'm 3891.

  6. Whoa... it's like looking at a rocket launcher. Definitely not the typical armalite look. :) Looks good but I'm sure you can't really hide that thing. It's so huge! I take it you are going to use it to intimidate your opponents into surrendering? :D

  7. Look through the armalite picture thread and your weapon picture thread (a little bit longer to look through), I believe they have some there. I am also in a similiar position like yourself, I own the m15a4 rifle and would love to add an m203 to worsen my back condition. :P The m203 kits I've seen seem to be of three types (most of the pictures I've seen were on m4's, fewer on m16's):

    1. RIS mount

    2. Barrel mount

    3. RIS mount with heat shield

Personally, I think the barrel mount option looks a little odd, being that the only upper handguard remains and there is a gap between it and the m203 exposing the barrel.

    http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-UPE-CA-A103M.htm

The RIS mount with heat shield looks badass but I'm guessing it would cost an arm and leg and I am sure they fit m16 models. I'm not sure if anyone else beside SP sells them.

    http://www.airsoft-guide.com/default.asp?view=69&ad=2

The option I am considering is attaching some cheapo rails to the barrel and possibly getting a CA m203 long RIS version.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=31681&rd=1

Still a little pricey, but a bit cheaper than barrel mount version, at least from what I've seen. Still, it might look funny with the rails I'm considering buying as they would slope down on the barrel:

    http://thehuntersmall.com/arm16haweras.html

This is the cheapest set of rails I could find. It is said to be a standard weaver rail set and not a picattiny set like what RIS is supposed to be, but I've heard that picattiny accessories (like the RIS m203) will work on the weaver set but not the other way around.

And if you want a more expensive handguard replacement RIS set:

And if you can spare that much cash, then surely you can send me some too. :)

  8. Beautiful gun... upgrade the internals and get a metal body if they exist. You got yourself a perfect gun. Its pretty nice stock too. I would post mine, but no camera. :( Hopefully there will be some nice upgraded ones here. I think I saw a nice one in the Picture of your weapon thread.

  9. Oh, and the side lever thing above the mag release rattles for me too.  << same to my m15a4 CQB , i think they all do, it's a design flaw or some sort

Thanks for telling me that. I was scared mine was just defective because I never read a review mentioning the problem.

and how high up are you to take that pic? i have to stand on my bed to get my ICS m16 totally in range

Yeah, I'd be interested in knowing that too. The barrel length on the m16 is so *fruitcage* long. Its a beast!!!

  10. Ok, so it's stock, it's straight out of the box... but it arrived literally 10 minutes ago and I can't get this grin off my face :D

That's really nice Doc! Its an m15a4 right? I just received mine yesterday. If I had a descent digital camera I'd post pics of mine. Just curious to see how old my model is in comparison, what is your serial number range? Mine is in the upper 3800s.

Oh, and the side lever thing above the mag release rattles for me too.

  11. To davedawg123

You should have to buy your Academy SA 80 from another shop in HK(149$for Airsoftshop  ,normally 116-120$ for the other  )Anyway with the new battery you should have a longer capacity of fire(approximately 1 shot=1maH)and an increase of ROF but  a m140 spring should be to strong for the EG 560 ACADEMY motor copy ;)

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

About the gun price, yes I know about the other stores price of around $116. I even found one for $110 or $100 I think, I just don't remember where. After about 4 or 5 emails back and forth with airsoftshop, they finally refunded me the difference $33. I should post my correspondance with them in the retailer review section. I think it would be a nice read :) I've spammed this thread enough, so I will probably just post it in the retailer review section under airsoftshop review thread or something like that. For people considering purchasing from them, look for it! :D

Anyhow, regarding the battery, I thought that the more amps would provide more power available, and hence more shots. I just wasn't sure if the fuse could handle it. I believe it is a 30amp fuse in the gun. I was thinking about purchasing 7.2v 3000mah battery also but ended up buying the 2100mah.

As for the spring, I found some spring upgrade guides on the net later suggesting that m100 was probably the highest spring I could probably safely get away without upgrading any other components. It was just that an auction for a really cheap m140 spring on ebay was about to end :-) I ended up purchasing an m100 spring on ebay for $12.

  12. Hi!

Great review! I am a newbie and I just bought my first aeg, academy l85a1 thanks to you! :-) Now I would like to upgrade it. As you can probably guess, I know nothing about airsoft. I wish I could test it right now, but AIRSOFTSHOP does FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and did not send me the battery and charger (bastards!):

    http://www.airsoftshop.com/airsoftshop/cat...products_id=919

It specifically states that it "Come with... 7.2v Battery & Quick charger" in the information section... so mad!!! >:-(

But enough ranting... I would like to know what the effects of using a 7.2v 2100mah battery (I found some that are cheaper than the standard 7.2v 1700mah) and adding a stronger systema m140 spring would be.

Any feedback would be much appreciated,

    Thanks!

    Dave
