  1. eHobby for me is the Amazon of airsoft... their prices are often the best for many things, and now they're even selling many real gears like T3 gears, ops core and Surefire... (and more ;) shhh)

Re:Squad, why does UPS end up costing more in customs? Isn't it all dependent on what is declared on the package? I know Fedex charges £10.50 for handling fee, Parcel Force (or EMS) is £13.50, how bad could UPS be?

In my experience UPS packages are almost always checked by customs, while EMS may just slip through without being looked at.

Although I understand at the moment customs are cracking down generally, so there's a greater chance in general.

Started off as a TM series 70

    • silverback laser grips
    • TM Night warrior hammer
    • re-profiled grip safety tail (to allow the hammer to work

I think it needs a new trigger, but apart from that I like where it is.

My aim is to make it a sort of “tactical concealment” pistol. something that would look just as much at home on the hip of a plainclothes detective as it would in the holster of a special forces door kicker.

  3. Impressive, can you just stick that in your hold luggage without any extra paperwork?

    Cheers guys

It was from "the triangle" a market in Nairobi. There's loads of really cheap touristy ones but I was lucky enough to find a stall which had a few of the actual ones. Even the guy I was staying with hadn't seen a real one for sale so easily.

Chris, well that's what I did and it was fine. I don't know what would have happened if they did a random bag search but it went through all the scanners with no issues.

In theory, as the knife is a type that's legal to import (I.e. not a flick knife, butterfly knife or one of the handful of other banned types) there's no need for any extra paperwork. you should be able to carry it through without any problems.

Note I said in theory, because as we know, customs can do strange things on occasion.

  4. BOB do you mean the vests as in the wife beaters?

    http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/eeff/

the above any good to you ?

Those are the one's, I have one from there. I misspoke when I said they where hard to find, so much as difficult to source. You can only get them at halfway reasonable prices through think geek, and that has it's own issues, what with shipping and customs etc.

Makes me think twice about risking it for an airsoft game.

  5. I have a bsg cosplay already. just gotta decide if I want to risk wearing it to a game (the vests are a pain to find)

otherwise, I'll play it without the launcher, and display it with.

  6. It's a good review. You go through all the features in a logical order, talk through all the major features, and hit all the key points that affect the user of that sort of product.

Only thing I would say is that in future reviews, a short discussion on cost and value for money would be nice, although in this case it works without, as we know the price of these rigs fluctuates widely.

Out of interest, have you actually run G3 mags in one of these? It looks like the perfect rig for my purposes, but I don't want to shell out only to find they won't quite work.

  7. Don't worry I am aware they are rather illegal haha

I was looking for a Larp version but not paying a fortune for it.

If your after a fixed one (I.e not a teloscopic) have you considered martial arts suppliers?

    for example

    Wooden

    Foam

    Foam side handle

A bit of paint should cover up those logos, and still leave you with something that looks decent, and is safe.

  8. I've taken the silencer off as I was just seeing if it added to the look as I can't find a night stick over here lol

There's a reason for that (they are illegal as hell)

I've seen the foam handle section of a fishing rod can make for a nice stand in. Or there is a company that makes a plastic training replica, but I can't remember the name. There's some discussion of it on the ARV/CO19 thread.

  9. My rig. Nowhere near as flash as some kits on here, but it does me nicely:

    kQJVzrS.jpg

    • TTI TXL-446 radio.
    • Unknown "FBI" style headset
    • Surefire EP-3 earplugs - right plug core removed, used as earpeice.

I like that I've been able to integrate hearing protection and radio use into a slimline setup.

I'm not 100% sure about the line linking the earplugs together. I tend to find it a bit annoying, but it keeps the plugs together.

  10. Anyone had any luck finding a foam filled suppressor that suits Glock 18 or 19s well ? Everything Im finding seems to be 35mm+ which is cool for a rifle but not a handgun.

    G&G SS-80 and SS-100

edit: ah, I see you are in the US. I believe they don't sell it with foam over there.

  11. My latest version. much improved from the one seen earlier in the thread:
    DSCI0014-3_zps2e9aa1ff.jpg

    from R-L

    • Viper security belt
    • safariland 6280 holster (for G17) on 6400 leg platform (contains KJW G23)
    • No-brand gloves pouch (contains two pairs of nitrile gloves)
    • Viper torch/baton pouch (contains suppressor for G23)
    • Ex-Police magazine/multi-tool pouch (spare G23 mag)

I'm debating getting rid of the suppressor pouch, as it's bigger than it needs to be, and isn't the most secure on the belt. might get a double pistol mag pouch and fit the suppressor in the spare space.

  12. My FSBE clone:

    2012-11-24112751.jpg

    kit list and notes:

    • no name FSBE clone - purchased second hand. it's not a shiny as it looks in the photo's
    • TMC double M4 pouch - positioned dead center, so I can access it with either hand if I need to.
    • TMC "stealth" dump pouch - packs down nice and slimline when I don't need it.
    • TMC Velcro admin pouch - handy place to put my leatherman, notes, pens ect. actually bought mainly as a place to put my patches
    • MSM "devil girl" patch - because sexy devils
    • MSM "WWJBD" patch
    • large first aid pouch - came as part of a "quickclot hemorrhage control kit". contains my first aid gear, packed into zip-lock bags to make sure it all stays clean and dry.
    • 5.11 C5 PDA/GPS pouch - carries my cobra MT600 radio
    • no name cobra radio earpeice - extra cable woven through the MOLLE loops to keep it from getting tangled in anything.

It's not the most complicated kit, or the most high-speed, but it does me quite nicely.

    Future plans:

    • add some kind of utility pouch - somewhere to put pyro
    • replace the radio earpiece - I find the earpiece on this one quite uncomfortable
    • add some "SWAT" or similar patches - because I can.
    • Long term - replace bits with better quality versions as and when they wear out - the 5.11 pouch has impressed me with it's quality, so their gear is top of the list.
