EAA Drozd Conversion

I came across a picture of a Russian made air machinegun:

It looks absolutely amazing despite its taxi cab appearance. I've been lurking around on this user group forum:

I've seen people do a few modifications to their guns. They were able to paint the yellow color away with Krylon plastic paint. The barrel can be replaced with other airgun barrels. It can be run off of external CO2 or HPA. Also the fact that it uses a solenoid to fire the gun the ROF can be adjusted (up to 900rpm) and it could have full auto capability instead of just burst fire.

 

For airsoft purposes obviously the power needs to be decreased and the caliber needs to be increased to 6mm. An increase in caliber would mean a new barrel, an upgraded magazine and action. I'm thinking though that 4.5mm plastic BB's could be used instead:

A decrease in power might be achieved with a lower input pressure from a regulated air supply or by modifying the circuit board controlling the solenoid.
