A&K SVD hicap=>real cap

Today, we will turn the stupid high cap of the A&K SVD into a nice real cap.

Stuff required for the mod:

- A&K SVD mag

- A mag spring

- A BB pushing piece

- A roll of sellotape (or anything that has a diameter of 34mm and a height of 8mm)

- A few chupa chups

- a thin needle of some sort

It takes about 1 hour or so.

 

Disassemble the SVD mag and remove the wheels from the middle.

I salvaged an old small G36 mag to get the mag spring and the BB pushing piece. However any single stack mag spring and BB pushing piece would work.

The sellotape roll was a bit thick so I had to make it narrower. Then I put it into the mag.

I had to eat the chupa chups first to obtain the rod. Then I cut the rod to make it the right size. If you cut too much, don't worry, have an other . That rod will be the spring guide. After that I pushed the needle through it. The needle will act as a spring stopper.

After putting the all these "parts" together it looked like this

 

Then it took about 10 minutes to figure out how to assemble it and it was done!

 

Its capacity is about 15-16BB. If I clipped the spring it may go up to 18, bit it may not push the last few BBs up. No irreversible mod was applied, you can turn the mag back to high cap anytime.

This can also be done to any other high cap just requires a spring alot of patience and a fair bit of bodgeing !
