Dickens
Ok guys ive got my new STAR UMP and its really impresive (i shouold be doing a review in the near future). Any way im having a problem with my stick battery, as im new with stick batterys its proving difficult. Its a stick from ZERO1 a 8.4volt 1000mah GP NIMH 1100 cells, the thing is it doesnt fit in the slot of my UMP....well it does but its a REALLY tight fit. It looks like the wire running down the side of the battery is making the fit really tight. I put the battery in once to test fire the gun and it was a nightmare to get in, and it was even worse to get out (it took me and my dad 5 minutes) So any help would be brillient. Pictures below. visionviper
I heard that you had to buy a certain stick battery made by star or something to that effect that the normal stick batteries don't fit.
Dickens
See thats the annoying thing, i phoned ZERO1 and they told me they have had loads of calls about this but there 'technician' hasn't had this problem and he just said it was a tight fit. Any way he is phoning me tomorrow and i was just looking for some advice from you loverly lot. Cheers
Hissing_Sid
Most guns which take a stick battery have an inverted U shaped compartment for it to go into. This means that there's room for the battery AND for the wire which runs back along the side of it. Star have managed to forget this bit of wisdom and made the battery compartment O shaped. You're actually making the problem worse, unfortunately, by using a NiMh pack. 600mAh NiCd packs are a bit slimmer than NiMh packs. In this case I bet the extra couple of mm thickness is enough to screw you up.
Dickens
######! Cheers Hissing Sid, looks like the battery is going back and ill have to order a couple of the NiCd stick's. Cheers
LeMongelo
You can use Ni-MH batteries. I'm using Intellect's 8.4V 1200mAh and it fits the UMP with no problems. I was told it could take up to Intellect 9.6v Ni-MH, but I personally have not tried. I'm sure it will fit with no problems. Hope this helps.

LeMongelo
Well im sat here with the battery and gun and the battery deffinatly aint going in sorry lol <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I apologize, I just wanted people to know Ni-MH batteries will fit fine. I know what you are referring to about the wire that prevents the battery from going in. The way my battery was made, it uses a flat strip rather than a wire (now i have no idea about the long term effects of a strip in place of a wire, but that's another topic). You can see it uses a flat strip in place of a wire: But Ni-MH batteries will fit. Again, I aplogize I couldn't be more help.
Dickens
No its not your fault mate. I see what you mean though, thats the kind i need with a flat negative wire to run down the side. Ive just ordered some NiCD ones instead now. Cheers
