Grips, grips and more grips

So I think I have figured out what my next few builds are actually going to be. First off is going to be a non-flute Tanaka SAA Cavalry. Black base gun, with silver trigger and hammer, and white pearl Ajax grips. Hopefully I can actually source the pieces I want, but we shall see. Stupid thing is going to be expensive, but man are Tanaka SAA nice. I would drop all these parts on my current one, but I think the flat black parts will clash with the rest of it since it is a midnight coated gun. Bit of shame now, but it does look nice.

I am still wishy-washy on building another DE. Part of me wants to wait for the new Leon 10", but since I don't really care about Resident Evil, why not just build one now using the Zeke kit. I would get better performance from the Zeke plus the heft of the metal body. I also am sure the Leon is going to cost over $250 so, the Zeke build wouldn't be that much more in the end. But the Leon would be cheaper ultimately since I could leave it silver. Don't know, but either way I am going to start storing the upgrades, hate it when they go out of stock on me. The real drag about DEs is that no one makes grips for them, no one.

Speaking of grips, I have a total obsession with grip hunting. It is a generally cheap way to really make your gun stand out from the rest. I think that almost 90% of my collection are wearing new grips. I was looking for grips for my Maruzen PPK/S and I stumbled across a place that carries historic grips. There was a perfect pair of white plastic Walther grips for $200! I'm not that crazy anymore. I learned my lesson with my Sig grips. $185 for a set of grips is just wrong. Granted I have never seen another one come close, but really, that is stretching reason a bit far. The best grips I have seen for the PPK/S are all for the new S&W manufactured ones, and I am pretty sure the Maruzen requires older styled German made grips. I think I know which ones I am going to choose, but we shall see what I end up with.

Hopefully my VZ61 shows up early this week. I'm really excited for the full auto glory. Been hunting up and down for a set of ANGS wood grips for it. No luck yet. If anyone has a source in Japan that can score me a set, I'll make it worth your time.
