Apparently the smoke created from the burning of laurel leaves is not pleasant and contains, amongst other things, cyanide compounds, more specifically cyanogenic glycoside (ref: http://www.kits...poisonous_plants.htm).
Hmm.. probably would have been nice to know that before I lit the bonfire after trimming the hedge out back.
