  1. Possibly but the mag would still reach a point where it would stop heating up and reach a stable temp- again usually at around or between +15C and 20C. The sofa material is not a great conductor of heat so all the remaining exposed surface area of the mag would be radiating excess heat. I don't tink the sofa made much difference- a little for sure but I don't think that significant.
  2. Of course you can know the temp of metal exposed to sunlight. Metal will absorb heat and radiate heat. It will at some temp reach equilibrium - i.e. radiate as much as it receives- a stable temp no matter how long its exposed to the sun. I'm not going find all the equations but the general rule of thumb for metal is approximately between 15 to 20 C above ambient temp in direct sunlight. My mag exploded with an ambient temp of 20C so t was probably around 35C but possibly an absolute worst case max of 40C. Anyway I'm sure eventually the quality of the mags will improve and become more
  3. Yep, the WE M4 is the best M4 GBB - mine rocks!
  4. I'll post pictures of the mag that exploded when it attained just a max around 35 celcius- and I'm being pessamistic because ambient temp was no more than 20 celcius. I'll also post pics of my ceiling with bits missing. An exploding propane mag is a frag grenade. It could have torn into a person- more specifically someone's eyes. The various bits of SHARP pot metal were sprayed all over the room. Do you really think it just goes 'pop' ? What sort of pressure will rip apart the outer mag casing and them project shrapnel at sufficient velocity to take chucks out of my ceiling??? You've got
  5. OK. So we have excellent and exhaustive reasons why and how the WE mags explode. It might also help to explore how they could be made not to explode in typical operating climates/temperatures. It seems we genuinely have the knowledge and skills on this forum. If you leave pot metal out in sunshine in ambient temp of 40 celcius then the metal will hover around 55 celcius after about 10 mins exposure. So I'd guess the mags should be built to hold pressure safely up to a max of 60 Celcius and vent gas at 65 celcius. I would then target the mags to withstand an absolute maximum of say 70 celcius.
  6. As much of a fan of WE as I am, I have to disagree. There is no simple remedy other than WE producing a mag that will not explode when exposed to sunshine. Other GBB mags do not explode. I can ( and have ) left GBB mags full of propane in the hottest sunshine in the middle of summer for hours- the only effect was that the weapon would not fire because the hammer spring could not overcome the immense pressure build up.
  7. My experience too. I did loads of research and tried both rifles out and the WE does rock big time!
  8. WETTI This exploding mag issue must be addressed. There's no point in saying don't leave it in the sun. There is a serious problem with the WE Mags. It's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt- this may make a far bigger dent in your sales than the time and effort it will cost to fix the problem. I for one would pay more for a mag that I feel confident will not explode and injure me or team mates.
  9. The pricing is amazing but what about the mags? In the UK they're going for absurd money- in the region of £90- that's about $135 each! I alway budget 8 mags per assault rifle type (e.g. NATO 5.56 STANAG). I guess it might be like Inkjet printers- dirt cheap for amazing technology but the Ink cartridges eat into the wallet big time. I think WE's opportunity (among others! might be to position itself as the 'Systema' of the GBB asault rifle world although not at the ridiculously dizzy pricing heights that Systema maintained their overpriced AEG. Also WE's Mags and parts are at v
  10. Well I've tried both. I may be out-of-date on the stock WA offering but one rifle is hugely over priced, has lower recoil, plastic body (as standard) and largely AEG grade metal internals. The other is about $150 to $200 less, has noticeably better recoil, metal body (as standard) and reinforced/ steel internals (in the second generation of rifles). Also, I have personally had endorsements from Military personnel and have seen favourable endorsements from Military personnel on the net. I chose the other and so got myself a WE M4 AFC. It is the better (and IMHO most obvious choice) of the
  11. Good. I certainly hope WE will win. My WE AFC version works in all respects with no MODS. I had a (very) recently retired Royal marine Commando try out my WE AFC rifle and they said it was the closest to the real steel that they have ever seen in an Airsoft weapon- he said "I've got to get me one of these." My wallet is waiting for the CO2 Mags and the SCAR:) I would however suggest that the Mag quality is further considered. Right now, if I was playing in California or the middle east I would not place a fully gassed up mag near my soft assets whilst on a patrolling in the suns
  12. It's the WA system. Stock WA is not as good as WE. G&P's m4 GBB is also based on WA but has many reinforced internals. I get the impression that WA's strategy is to spread the technology. Could We be the Betamax and WA the VHF of airsoft weapons? Sony's betamax was always the best video tape format but lost out to VHF due to strength in numbers.
  13. Well you should be surpised. GBB mags are meant to be skirmishable in daylight/sunlight. Green gas cylinders are not meant to be skirmished and naturally should not be exposed to sunlight. Deodorant cans are not meant for skirmishing either. Now skirmishing means rough usage in all weathers including intense sunshine. I can guarantee you that if I was skirmishing in the middle east in the middle of summer, these WE M4 mags would be at much higher temp than that attained in my study on a relatively cool day. Just taking a 10 minute break in middle eastern type temperatures would certainly heat
  14. Well I think the bottom line is the WE must ensure that a fully (propane) gassed up mag can be left in direct sunshine and not explode at anything less than 70 Celcius. This assumes an extreme 50 Celcius shade temp and then sunshine factor which is usually +20 Celcius. If this means a more expensive mag, then so be it. Safety is ultimately the most important factor. I dread to think what would have happened if my 20 month old toddler was wandering around in my study when my mag exploded.
  15. That's my concern. I left 4 fully gassed mags on the sofa while I sorted out some e-mails. The sun must crossed the sofa. About half hour later I heard a very loud explosion and saw metal bits flying and taking chucks out of my ceiling. It was a warm day at over 16 celcius- with the sun warming the mags up they must have gone up to about 30 celcius max. Despite this, I have bought a replacement Mag and intend to buy another WE M4 and a SCAR since I think the WE M4 GBB is the best Airsoft weapon around. I hope the mag quality improves.
  16. Mine exploded in my study due to the sun passing over the sofa where I had left the mags full of propane.
  17. I used my WE GBB (AFC version) at 12 celcius. I hit a few opfor but firing every one/ two seconds. Full auto at that temp was not really an option. I'm OK with one CO2 capsule per mag since I only attend milsim events. I've used my WE at two milsim events and I got the hight hit count (on the opfor!) than the other guys in my squad as a result of much more careful aiming and the good range and accuracy of my WE M4.
  18. What type of Co2 capsules does the WE M4 GBB take?
  19. WETTI Do you have any news on what WE plan to do to improve the build quality of the WE M4 GBB Gas magazines?
  20. What about a Diemarco/ Canadian C7 reciever? It's the one used by the SAS and SBS.
  21. I fitted a DBOYS CNC RIS without any mods and it fits perfectly out of the box without any wobble whatsoever. I've had my AFC WE GBB for about 6 weeks now and I've used it every single day with no problems other than having to tighten screws/bolt (twice only though). I must have put about 4000 rounds through it and it's an airsoft dream of an M4. The thing about real steel Weapons is the need for maintenance at the end of each days use. Cleaning, clearing excess oil, lubing in the right places, checking screws etc is essential and part of the experience of using a professional traini
  22. Go via Guardster free proxy and it'll work- I'm on the site right now.
  23. I have the AFF version of the WE GBB. Will the CO2 mags work with my rifle without modification? When will the CO2 mags come out? Also, when will the GBB Scar be released? My wallet is waiting Thanks
  24. Absolutely right. Mine went yesterday. This is a beautiful pistol but clearly the muzzle is a weak point the KJW should address. Still easily fixed with a relatively cheap and widely available Guarder replacement. I'd hoghly recommend the KJW- awsome full metal action. BUT, as recommended above- buy the Guarder muzzle! to avoid that sinking feeling of "my toy is broke"! Does anyone know of have any guides about changing the muzzle? I think a guide to share with all KJW P226 owners would be great. Thanks & BR Tony
