  1. I had the Wii tech nozzle for the MP9 and it had a critical flaw. The pin that holds the rocket valve into the nozzle was pushed on from one side and glued. It could not be pushed out of the nozzle, there wasn't even a hole to fit a drift into. When the rocket valve broke due to the stem being too thin (almost immediately) I could not replace it. In the end I had to drill a hole in the side of the nozzle to get a drift in there to drive out the old pin then repair the metal and fit the original KWA pin so the nozzle would hold a rocket valve again. That would be beyond the average airsofter's capabilities. In my opinion - junk.

  2. I keep thinking about selling mine too. I think ill get the new version hop up for it,then decide afterwards if its worth keeping.

Thanks - I have an uneasy feeling, I don't want to sell it and then regret it. I'm satisfied with the accuracy, I just don't get the use out of it I'd like...

550-650e I'd say, well that's what I'd sell it for.

That's a lot, go a long way towards a new dry suit.

    Thanks for the reply.

  3. Thinking about selling the MP9.

I love it dearly but I don't play all that often and I feel like it's a waste.

What does the consensus think I'd get for it?

I've got one gun, 7 mags, 2 triple mag pouches, 2 bolts (normal and low power), 2 spare piston heads, a spare piston, a spare disconnector, an NPAS valve, three different recoil springs (for different weather), 2 different rocket valve springs (for different power levels) and a ball bearing race for the spring guide.

*edit* and two spare hop rubbers

Still just toying with the idea or this would be in the sales threads...

  4. Is anyone mad enough to try cutting a long mag into a short one? Looking at the parts diagram, it looks to me that if you cut part # 352 down, and drilled new holes for the pins, it could be done. If this was a sniper backup weapon, I'm thinking you'd want the first mag to be a short one to keep the gun compact while it's hanging from webbing or a sling.

It'd need a bit more just drilling the pin holes, you'd also need to mill the inside for the base plate seal.

Or - and I've done this with the same system to make a flush mag for a Glock 26C - you can do it like this:

Cut to shorten the main part of the mag (352).

File the bottom part of the mag (353) so that it isn't stepped any more.

Throw away the rubber seal (358).

Epoxy the bung (353) into the mag (352), re-drill the mag (352) and pin it for strength if you must.

Re-cut the grooves in the bottom of the mag so that the base plate (354) fits - this is the most fiddly job to be honest.  It's a pain in the *albartroth*.

It's not too hard, you can do it in an hour with a dremel, a file and some decent glue.

  5. I'd pay big money for an FTC Spectre with the stock and a decent number of mags.

    *sigh*

    Probably never happen now.

So I need Marui/KWA to do a Spectre after they have done the UMP.

Can you imagine how much gas the old quad-stack spectre mags would hold?

    Madness.

  6. Make very sure that you get System 7 mags if you are buying KSC ones.

KSC made a short run of MP9s with the old Hard Kick internals so it is possible to buy a KSC MP9 mag that will not work.

Again - System 7 is vital, all KWA ones are correct (NS2 is their name for System 7 and they only made it in NS2).

There might be some change from £1k on the setup and having some prototypes made (Although I wouldn't be suprised if there wasn't), looking at the design of them I suspect it'd be a faff to actually make them and far more hassle than it's worth, I'd guess you'd be looking at about £100 per disconnector if no more were made after the setup run.

    That's what I had thought.

If I pay myself a nominal £15/hr I could cut one myself with a band saw and files for less than 6 hours' work.

I could do it by eye with my non-CNC mill but it doesn't like steel too much.

    Probably faster with files.

I suppose that is how people used to do it before automated machine tools.

  7. Mag release:

It is where the RS one is and the RS one is there because that is where the notch is on the RS .45 mags it uses.

No real work around without a complex mechanism or something like a BAD lever.

There might be something for airsoft users eventually since dropping a gas mag is much more significant than dropping an empty .45 mag.

  8. It's out of stock already...

I'd definitely consider a Marui MP7, I love the hop but I am committed to the KWA MP9.

I have limited knowledge of stress fractures etc. but from the looks of it the problem could be that the inside of the casting has a nearly right angle transition from sides to front.

To make it stronger I think they need to radius that transition to stop the crack propagating.

Should be a fairly simple matter for an aftermarket parts manufacturer to achieve,

  9. No, that's not against the rules, you have over 100 posts so you could start a sale thread but I will investigate them for nothing and fix them for cost (if they need parts) if you decide to post them.

Everything is fixable but there are a lot of parts inside one of these little beasties and if something is broken it takes a trained eye to spot it.

What you mentioned about having to manually push the disconnector forward is setting off alarm bells though.

A broken disconnector is fairly common and can be caused by an incorrect drill while re-assembling.

    I'd suspect that first...

  10. The loadout is simple and to the point. I do however need the help of a fellow team mate to prime and load the grenades during downtime.

If you are having trouble reloading the grenades quickly enough I recommend you switch to the type of grenade that has one big hole.

    Reset.

    Gas.

    Pour in bbs.

    Tape the top.

    Done.

I can reload 4 in 2 minutes tops. The ones with a lot of little holes in them are a total pain to reload. I hate them.

  11. 6 seconds isn't enough, the gas reservoir is massive, I fill for at least 20 seconds from empty then top up after every load of bbs.

    Keeps it all topped up.

The one that still leaks gives you two options.

1, Try to fix it the conventional way by either replacing the rubber seal at the bottom of the mag or by shimming it up by putting teflon tape under it or both.

2, Epoxy the base in and forget about it. Sometimes that was the only way to go with the MK1 mags. Obviously only do that if you don't mind losing the ability to take the mag spring and follower out.

Because of the negatives involved in option 2 I wouldn't recommend it unless you just can't stop the leaks.

I have done it on a customer gun before but I cut the tang off the front that holds the mag spring in and replaced it with a plug and a machine screw.

Doesn't look pretty but it works 100%

Lubing the BB run will eventually ruin the hop rubber and will give you inconsistent hopping, if you are happy to take that negative and keep it clean then that's fine.
