  1. Hey guys, Vacation? I *wish* Anyway, the server is up and running again, the box was just rebooted. I'll be online on it for a while, so if some of the regulars contact me, I'll make it so you can fix it yourself. M.
  2. Howdy, Yeah great idea, except it doesn't help if the inbox fills up to capacity before I have time to log in and move PMs to the mail archive M.
  3. Very cool Dawson I've been a fan of Dave Dawson since he opened up his custom shop. I gotta admit, I think the slides look a little funky on their own, but on a nice 2011 like that it looks quite distinguished M.
  4. Howdy, This is not entirely true. With the SCW lineup, WA has changed a few things here and there, causing a bit of an issue with swapping parts. For instance, the SW1911-frame is based off a much older GM frame but with bits reshaped. It cannot for instance take an ambi thumb safety from a Wilson or similar, the hole is *much* too small (old-style GM fits, whereas putting that in a Wilson requires a spacer/washer). The barrel link that goes into the inner chamber has been changed, obviously dimension-wise so if you put it on an older gun, it won't tilt = no blowback. Also, th
  5. Howdy, Can we please have a larger inbox for PMs? Mine fills up very quickly, and I'm not generally able to read and clear it out except in the evenings, which doesn't seem to work well M.
  6. According to him, it's a GM MkIV series 70, and that doesn't have a beavertail, it has a regular (which I guess is ordinary?) grip safety. M.
  7. Righty, for the hammer you don't have many choices except differently finished spur hammers. The STI-style quasi-spur *might* work, but imo that'd look kind of weird: The STI spur is hammer C in the pic above, courtsey of Sanko. I wasn't suggesting you change the trigger group, just maybe the trigger, if you want to. You could even keep the bow if it's very magical, and just mount a different trigger onto it As far as slides go, it would probably be a lot easier to modify an old Magna slide marked however you like, but already cut for a Bo-mar, to take the SCW chamber, th
  8. Howdy Zen, I suggest sticking a narrow ambi tac trigger (or single-sided narrow), swapping out the trigger and replacing the MSH with a flat one, maybe a magwell-flat like on the FBI Trial. Unless you want to do a full-body transplant, you have to radius the grip tangs in order to put a beavertail on a Series 70, and filing/grinding that heavyweight material is going to be nasty You can get a real-steel dropin CMC grip safety for Series 70, but chances are it won't fit perfectly, besides the tang+beavertail safeties are quite... ugly Without a beavertail with the recess c
  9. Hey guys, Not coming to HK anytime soon, I'm afraid Although a trip to Japan this fall is planned, if I can just scrounge up the funds BigAl, I don't have any Fobus mag pouches, but I don't see why they wouldn't fit, putting a WA mag next to a realsteel with a bullet in and the height above the upper edge is about the same (nozzle vs. bullet). The WA is *slightly* higher/taller, but not enough to mess things up, I'd think. About the AlumaGrips; they are amazingly non-slippery, even on a realsteel at the range, which produces a lot more sweat in the palm of your hand than a GBB
  10. Oh good Lord. Didn't I just say this was not what I was doing? In fact the only comparison I made to *any other gun* was the grip and trigger. I, too, own a WA SW1911 (well, two ), and the weight distribution according to my sucky bathroom scale is about 60/40 in favor of the gun (vs. the magazine). Anyway, I'm done, this is getting ridiculous. Except to say that I (CQB) skirmish with all my pistols, and they're all full-metal except for the TM Sig M.
  11. Everybody don their fluffy jumpsuits right now About the estimated FPS; You're right, I can't accurately tell whether it shot at 200FPS or 250FPS, I'm basing my estimate on the other, chronoed, GBBs that I own, which are plenty. I should perhaps have been clearer that I'm not *disappointed* with the P226's power output, it is what it is and you get what you pay for. About the comparison to the WAs; My intention was never to directly compare the gun to the Para and the Kimber, except for size, grip angle, grip thickness and the other things mentioned in the article. The Kimber is no
  12. Yep, 5" as in inches, ~12cm. And yes, I thought it was quite terrible myself I'm not an extremely good shot, but the Kimber used for comparison in a few of the photos groups sub-1" from 5" benchrested, and is quite the tack driver when compared to the P226, both in terms of power output and blowback snappiness. M.
  13. Howdy, It's an AlumaGrip, black anodized plain, I have the same grip on my SV IED and my 1996 A2 Hybrid. Excellent grips, I do wish they did a plain double-diamond though M.
  14. Bored... Posting more pics Customized GM MkIV series 70: Sin City anyone? M.

  20. Hey man, Thanks for the appreciation I build guns on commission for people on occasion, not at the level of Clarence Lai because I don't have any actual metalworking tools like engraving pens/stampers or metal mills available until fall (September-ish), but just putting one together and tuning it, sure. You may want to read This link on my Kimber build to get an idea of how I put my guns together. Enzo, whatever you want to do with (to?) the FBI trial is good, I guess? I turned mine into the 1996 A2 Hybrid-twins that I've posted pics of in various threads and my album
  21. So. Time for my 2nd non-WA gun ever (the first being the KSC Sig Pro). I was very curious to see how it measured up, being disappointed in the KSC Sig Pro and really wanting a good Sig. Upon taking the P226 out of the box, I was struck by how light and flimsy it felt. That particularly unsettling feeling was reinforced by the fact that the magazine is responsible for half of the total weight. The markings on the slide are excellent, though, as well as the fake extractor on the ejection port right-hand side. The "SIGARMS INC. Exeter-NH-USA"-rollmark is slightly misplaced, not be
  22. "You have reached your bandwidth limit and can not view this image" is what I get when trying to view the gallery Mind you, I haven't actually clicked on any thumbnails, just browsed through a couple of people's galleries, so I can't have downloaded that much data M.
  23. Ham, Chances are it won't go anywhere except Boom, considering it's a Prime kit and Boom = Prime = Boom. Then again, you can always pop by Boom and buy it over the counter, either the finished gun or the kit, they're in Kowloon. I was going to get it, but the finished custom is real inaccurate from the real MCSOCOM MAR-DET1, and I'd rather not build another Kimber right now. Here is a MAR-DET1 customized by Rogers Precision, Here is how it looks in its original form. The rail is from Dawson. M.
  24. Just get a nice Sheriff slide (or Zeke slide+frame and make it full metal) and some sexy Nill grips: ...or why not Hogue rosewood flats: And it won't be so common any longer If that's not enough, stick Novak sights on it and bob the hammer for the Ernst Langdon-look Nice review, partyboy. Unfortunate forum nick M.
