Our first rat, Rocky, had a little swing hammock like that - he loved it to bits, was always in it.
He wouldn't wear a harness though. Used to be content with just sitting on your shoulder.

Sorry, wrong link.
I don't really know, but short of winning the lottery, it HAS to be reasonably cheap, or at least good value for money.
Congrats on the D5000 ShortStack.

It seems if you want F2.8 or better, you have to pay through the nose for it.
The Sigma one is this, right? http://www.parkcameras.com/9126/Tamron-AF-70-200mm-F-2-8-Di-LD--IF--Macro--Nikon-Fit-.html
Internet research suggests the 70-300 Nikkor is under-rated and pretty good, but who trusts the internet these days.
Might take a trip to Park Cameras next week and handle both. The 300mm will come in very useful for airshows over the 200mm, but who knows? I originally went in to Park Cameras for a Pentax K-X, and came out with a Nikon D5000

I'd actually prefer a wider focal range to be honest - I don't get a lot of time for photography nowadays, and I won't be doing much specialist stuff that might require a dedicated lens.
Also, my budget at the moment won't allow for a variety of different lenses, so something that's more flexible is ideal for me - I don't necessarily need the very best quality.
The more reviews I read about it, the more I'm leaning towards the apparently under-rated Nikon AF-S VR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF ED.
Looks exactly what I was after, but I just need to make sure it'll auto focus with the D5000.

Looking at this at the moment, even though it costs as much as the DSLR - http://www.parkcameras.com/6676/Tokina-AT-X-80-400mm-f4-5-5-6-D--Nikon-AF-.html
Will it autofocus with my camera? I know some lenses don't.
Ben.
EDIT: Damn, no it won't. It's a shame, because it's just on the edge of my comfortable budget for a new lens.
There's always this - but not sure if it's the right thing? Seems pretty cheap to me: http://www.parkcameras.com/4830/Nikon-AF-S-VR-70-300mm-f-4-5-5-6G-IF-ED.html

I've had four so far.
My last girl, Rukia, had almost exactly the same colouring as Eko, though the champagne streaks in her coat were slightly more blended with the cream - you might find that happens to Eko with age, though.
For what it's worth, none of my ratties have ever bitten anyone - even when taking food offered by hand.

Farnborough was great!
Had loads of fun. Got sunburnt though - the weather report lied. Also, the F22 Raptor decided not to show up (bloody Americans ).
Oikoik is right - the planes go quite high, and thus a normal lens won't do. Knowing this, and only having said normal lens, I decided to set up at the start of the runway, and managed to capture some decent pictures of planes landing.
The static displays were pretty awesome as well - finally got to see an AH-64 Apache Longbow. The Airbus A380 was HUGE!
I'll show you some pictures I took when I can be bothered to upload them.
Ben.
EDIT:: Also, this - http://www.parkcameras.com/9775/Tamron-AF-18-270mm-f-3-5-6-3-Di-II-VC-LD--IF--MACRO--Nikon-.html
Any good?

I'm all set - the show is tomorrow, I turned on Active D-Lighting (set it to 'Normal'?), etc.
It's probably all for nothing anyway, as with my lens they'll probably just be pictures of huge expanses of sky with a tiny speck flying in the middle, but hoping to get close to the runway for some take-off and landing shots to practice my panning technique.
Unfortunately, it's definitely going to be overcast, and there's a strong possibility of rain.

That's a beautiful fancy rat! It's a dumbo champagne female?

It's funny, because the camera manual only had a very short paragraph dedicated to the VR mode. I don't appear to have any kind of manual with the lens either.
Hmmm... Maybe I missed a section in the manual.
Ben.
-
And the VR? I usually keep it off, but not sure what it does exactly.
Also, I turned Active D-Lighting off. Shouldn't I have done that?
Ben.
-
Thanks man!
Today I charged the battery, cleared the SD card, and read half the manual to find out how to turn on Continuous Shooting mode
As for settings, I'll try the default 'Sport' program, as I don't know what the weather is going to be like on Saturday.
I memorised the settings you guys came up with though, so might try them out earlier in the day to figure out what to change on the day.
Unfortunately, I suspect the kit lens to be woefully inadequate at this type of thing, so I'm not expecting great results - who knows, maybe the static displays will be good?
Ben.
EDIT:: Also, my lens has that Vibration Reduction (VR) feature. Pros and cons as to using it for panning shots etc.? Don't know much about what it does - manual isn't very clear on it.

Best combination is Bomber Airsoft CNC Lightweight Bolt Carrier for WE SCAR, and RA Tech NPAS, imho. The lightweight bolt gives you a better ROF, but also helps with gas consumption.
I'd wear the HOP in first and see what you think, before messing around with the Stinger HOP kit. I find that with green gas and 0.3g Blaster 'Devils', it's suprisingly accurate, and the range is very nice.
Having said that, the Stinger has a good reputation, and I'll probably upgrade to it eventually if I can be bothered/I need to.

Depends where you set it, and what kind of valve was fitted to your original nozzle.

I have a Nikon D5000 - the mid-level compact DSLR thingy.
I shoot in RAW, and post-process with GIMP. I'm slowly learning, I think.
Let you know how it goes!
Ben.

Cheers guys, I don't think I've ever used Continuous Shooting mode on my Nikon before, so I'll read up on how to turn it on/use it.
I'll try stuff out. If all else fails (not sure on what the weather will be like), there's always the automatic 'Sport' program...
Ben.

You will need to shoot heavier BB's than 0.25g's, no matter what the FPS, to get the best from the HOP.
Buy a RA Tech NPAS, and you'll be able to shoot at whatever power you want.

Going to Farnborough air show on Saturday.
Anybody got any tips for camera settings (Nikon) to capture fast-moving aircraft?
Chris, I'm looking at you here!

KWA trades are horrid and make me want to carve my eyes out.
Other than that, looks really nice. Might look at the KSC version.

My serial number is in the three thousand area, and I'm pleased with mine.
My bolt catch isn't functioning as it should, but it's a simple fix according to Evil Dan.
I've got a weird problem after installing the NPAS and Lightweight Bolt Carrier where my bolt jams before it returns to battery, and vents all the gas in the mag.
I *think* I fixed it with lube, but who knows for sure. The NPAS is a very tight fit in the chamber (obviously), and that seems to cause it.
Ben.
-
Wasn't Elite Battle Zone, was it?
Ben.
EDIT:: I have NPAS and Bomber Airsoft CNC Lightweight Bolt Carrier in mine.
Today, I was experiencing slight jams - My NPAS is very tight in the brass chamber. I thought my mags were venting because I'd dropped a couple earlier in the day, but it turns out my bolt wasn't fully returning, as the NPAS keeps getting stuck in the chamber.
Fixed it with lube, of course.

Probably was a mod edit - don't want none of your ZeroIn spam here
Seriously though, I have noticed it a little over the past few days - I'm positive I've read things, but when I go back they're not there anymore.
I haven't noticed any of mine going missing, though Elrey is probably still watching me

I went to Tactical Quartermaster, who not only had the part I needed in stock, but had all the magazines too.
A great retailer, and safe to say I'll never be using Airsoft Buddy again.

WE M14 Gas Blowback Rifle
in Rifles (Gas)
Posted
Like other WE rifles, to get the best out of it, use green gas and AT LEAST 0.28's. I use 0.30's, and they're fine, even at quite a low FPS achieved with the NPAS.
This looks like a great rifle - still decided whether to pick one up or not.
