  1. Any more details on this? Pics? Which specific part are you talking of bending?

Surely it would be easier to fix the magazine catch? The bolt lock would then work, and you'd see more stability in the FPS through a better seal with the mags.

    Ben.

  2. It's definitely the mag catch.

If you fire the SCAR whilst holding the magazine, it locks every time.

Whilst examining the mag catch, the right side flew off! Grub screw came loose. Put it back on, and encountered a new 'quirk'.

The mag catch on the left side works fine. But the mag catch on the right side sticks in when you press it. You either have to click it back in by pressing the left hand side of the catch, or if the gun is cocked, pull the trigger, which pops it back in.

The gun itself is shooting awesomely. It is now very gas efficient, and without much loss in felt recoil. The problem with the bolt not locking back, which is caused by the mag catch, is only a minor thing, but I'll get round to fixing it eventually. I'm opening the trigger unit tomorrow to take a look.

    Ben.

  3. Ok, it seems like it's just me reading this anymore, but here goes.

Installed the Speed Bolt and NPAS.

It's running very nicely on green gas. No chrono, but I think it's somewhere around 330FPS, or under.

This is with the NPAS all the way forward (so all you can see is the black o-ring) and Speed Bolt.

However, my bolt now does not lock back at all, unless you hold the bolt catch in, which is annoying.

I think this is down to play in the magwell/boltcatch area of the lower receiver. Might shim it somewhere to try and hold the magazine in better?

    Ben.

  4. Perhaps I should have used the word 'informing' in the review, but I demanded nothing.

I just made them aware that I'd like the magazines as soon as possible, and I'd sort the rest out as and when.

Unfortunately, that request seemed to be too much for them to handle.

    Ben.

  5. I've been playing with the NPAS.

When you adjust the valve forward, do you then screw the whole nozzle onto the rod some more?

It seems like every time you move the valve the rod has room to be screwed on a little further. I assume this is to help stop the valve slipping position once set?

It's threaded, so I assume you're meant to screw it in that far, but just thought I'd check?

    Ben.

  6. I was mostly talking about the picture in your first post captioned 'MARKINGS!'.

Where the lower receiver meets the upper, that join looks really messy for some reason?

Is the upper plastic? Maybe it's just the picture.

    Ben.

  7. I have to say, between the two, the GHK's finish looks very poor.

WE's is better by a long shot.

GHK firing videos looks great though.

The GHK AK's are just Dboys/KALASH bodies with their gas kit installed, right? So are these PDW bodies produced in-house?

    Ben.

  8. What did you expect?, your buying goods from CHINA, lol. They speak a completely different language. IMHO, your lucky to have gotten your funds returned.

It was just an accident and miss communication, nothing to serious, and not really thread worthy if you ask me.

    Errrm... Where to start, really?

1./ This is a retailer review, not a Problems with Sales Online thread.

2./ It's a HK business, as are plenty of reputable retailers who have served the airsoft community for years.

Who do you think supplies American airsoft shops?

My review verdict? Don't bother, buy from a better-known HK shop.

    Ben.

  9. I ordered some stuff from Airsoft Buddy, and thought I'd share my thoroughly negative experience with you guys.

    Here's the website blurb;

"Airsoft Buddy is a newly established on-line shop for airsoft products, we're located in Hong Kong and evangelized to provide one-stop shop for airsoft fans world-wide. We partner with the largest and most reliable airsoft and war-game equipment suppliers, and therefore, we carry a large variety of high quality products which could suit for individual fans’ interests.

So that you need not worry about the logistics after placing your order and settle the payment, our team will take care of that. We focus on our on-line business, and will have 100% commitment to YOU!"

I put in an order for four WE SCAR GBBR mags in Tan, and a Bomber Lightweight CNC Speed Bolt Carrier for the same gun.

This order was placed on Tuesday. Airsoft Buddy were the only shop to have all these items in stock on their website. I paid immediately.

It took them a day to actually look at my order, and tell me that the Bomber Bolt Carrier was actually not in stock, contrary to the website's stock indicator. They asked, in broken English, whether I'd want a partial refund for the cost of the bolt and to send the other stuff, or a full refund.

I replied immediately, telling them I needed the magazines sent straight away for a game next week, and that I'd just have a refund for the bolt or they could send it at a later date, or whatever.

It took them another day to look at that e-mail.

Then, even though they'd offered a partial refund option, they just refunded the whole amount anyhow. Not sure whether they don't understand English that well, or whether they wanted to dodge paying shipping on the Bomber bolt, or whatever.

So now I'm stuck without the parts, and without time to order from another, more reputable retailer. I also have to wait for Paypal to complete the refund to my credit card - not sure how long that takes?

    Hmmmm...

Thanks for wasting my time, Airsoft Buddy.

0/10 on service. Also, their website is dead slow to load, which is frustrating, and they only have one e-mail address for contacting them on, which seems to get checked once every 12 - 16 hours or so.

    Ben.

  10. Spence, it sounds awesome! Will test it against my SCAR when I can get down to Worthing.

It's a shame about the buffer. I guess it's either convert to Open Bolt, or risk a cracked receiver.

    Ben.

  11. I'd go for the RA Tech Stinger HOP upgrade if I were you.

It's pretty cheap, and apparently quite good over the stock HOP.

You didn't, by any chance, buy that WE SCAR on Zero One, did you?

    Ben.

  12. Hi Spence,

Glad you're pleased with the PDW - Can't wait to see it. I'll bring my SCAR along to a skirmish soon.

I'm sure I posted it in this thread as well as the WE SCAR one - Tactical Quartermaster have the parts to convert mags to the Open Bolt system, I believe.

I couldn't find the page on the site, but e-mail Mark, he's very helpful, and I'm sure he can get some for you.

    Ben.

  13. Ok, so there appears to be two seperate problems with the SCAR.

The bolt catch not engaging when you fire it seems to be fixed by jiggling it about with your thumb.

The bolt catch not engaging when you insert an empty mag and rack the bolt is different.

It seems that, on mine, the magazine has significant play in the magwell (up and down). On taking the lower off and inserting the mag, you can see that the bolt catch assembly isn't engaged properly by the nub on the mag until you push the magazine up with your hand.

I think this is what's causing the bolt lock problems - the magazine; more specifically, the fit of the magazine in the receiver.

I might use that old Tanaka trick of epoxying small pieces of coke can to where the magazine engages the magazine release.

    Ben.

  14. I think the problem may be the bolt catch assembly.

As you can see in the pictures above, there is a bit of up and down play in the notch where the bolt catch assembly sits in the lower receiver.

As an experiment, I fired the SCAR a few times. No lock back at all.

I then jiggled the bolt catch up and down a bit (while the gun was still assembled). Now it locks back on its first or second shot.

    Ben.
