Thanks! I had a flick through yours, I approve, but you pro users have far too many photos for my clicking finger to handle!
Aw I was good and put things into sets to make it easier
I tell you what though, when there's a lot of good stuff, the slideshow function of flickr is a godsend!

Great photos on your flickr page btw

Have to agree with VR/IS being useless, I've not noticed any difference between it being active and not. So much for the "able to take photos 2 stops down" claim.

P.S. Xaccers: That is a very beautiful woman! Her pose is spot-on... Most of those kind of shots look either forced, or not quite serious enough. My friend is a model for Bizarre, and does that kind of stuff all the time... Hence my unhealthy interest hehehehe
Ben.
Lovely isn't it?
Think I found it with some others on Deviant art (or maybe flickr).
Have yet to find a willing subject to recreate it or something similar.

So I want a new camera.
Found out im due for a tax rebate and a new compact camera has been high on my list of gadgets to waste money on for a while.
I have a canon S3 powershot which is good, but its too bulky and I want rid of it. I'm after something thats more compact than this. It's basically an SLR design so carrying it in pockets is pretty impossible.
I want something thats got better picture quality so I have been looking at the Canon G9 and G10 which seem to fit the bill but I'm not sticking with the Canon name. If they're are better compacts around for the price I'd jump ship.
So, basically... Wot am best compacts? Cheaper the better really and the G10 is pushing it to the limit in price range. I'd prefer sub £200 because im keeping some money for an EGLM for my scar some 203 shells and hopefully a PDI patriot kit and a suitable M4/16 to boot!
Might be an idea to start a new thread in the off topic section rather than the pictures section, if memory serves there have been several "wot am best camwa" threads there already

Nice pics guys, Xaccers that last one is amazing but a little over exposed on her skin.
It's high key.
This week's homework is a triptych of low key, mid key and high key photos.
What's the difference between low key and under exposuring a shot, or high key and over exposuring a shot?
Well, if you meant to do it, it get's given a special name and you don't have to feel bad

Something a little more pleasing to the eye than my last one
Incidentaly, for canon compact users, there is a bit of software out there which can enhance your camera's abilities, such as giving you RAW, and time lapse etc.
Can't remember the name off the top of my head, will see if I can find out tomorrow. You just copy it to your memory card and the camera picks it up, so it's not a permanent modification.

I must admit, I really did think you were a raging homosexual, but now that you have posted your desktop, your heterosexuality has been demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt.
I dunno, like with the pussycatdolls, my post-op transexual proximity alarm* is going off
*that's an alarm that goes off when post-op transexuals enter my proximity, not that I'm a post-op transexual who's had an alarm fitted whenever someone comes into my vicinity. Honest.

I often take mine out in the field, though not while playing.
Much better to don a hi-vis and get in amongst the action.
A UV filter to protect the lens is a must!
Look into getting specific camera insurance too, I was quoted £6 a month for up to £2000 worth of gear, including unattended vehicle cover (so if I left it locked in the boot and someone broke in, I was covered)
