  1. I can see the 'system' point. I've never hankered after a Systema, but there's been times before where I've noted certain items down on my 'To Buy' list (which is an actual openoffice doc. I have here on my desktop) and not actually bought them until years later.

Still wouldn't ever touch a PTW myself, but there's plenty of other things in airsoft which I dislike, and sometimes you've just got an itch you have to scratch.

  2. And I wouldn't ever advise anyone to count on being one of the lucky few that manages to entirely avoid the fees. Purse strings are tight, and it's a good source of tax income for the government, they aren't going to let you get away with it easily. Depending on the declared value of the package, you'd could well be looking at £80+ in VAT and Import Duty.

  3. In one day, with two teams, we consume 300 grenades, 1 kilogram plastic explosives, 80 meters of detonating cord, a lot of pyrotechnic devices, 30 liters of fuel and a lot of sand/dirt.

How the *fruitcage* did you get PE and det cord?

In fact, cancel my last, I don't think I want to know...

  4. Personally, I stick with 'say something nice, or say nothing at all'. I don't myself believe that just because somebody posts up a picture in a public place, then it instantly becomes the right of everyone viewing that picture to say whatever the hell they like, irrespective of the poor soul on the receiving end. That particular issue is for the mods to decide however, just voicing my stance.

  5. I know, and I tried making it clear in my post that unless he cares about realism, it's pointless.

There are some of us, however, who like our weapons to look as close to the thing we're imitating as possible. I'm sure I can't be alone. Things like missing 'vital' parts (vital on the real steel), visible battery wiring etc really kills an airsoft build for me. But hey, each to his own.

It came across like you were bashing him, so I stuck for him. If I misunderstood you that's my mistake, my apologies.

Also, you point out that this is an airsoft forum like realism isn't a part of airsoft. If it was a paintball marker, I'd understand your point.

It's a part, you're quite right, but that's all it is. A part that any player is more than entitled to entirely ignore if they so wish. If I want to run around with a hello kitty gun using box mags and a stick 12x sniper scope over a 7" barrel, that's my decision. If you don't want to do that because you have different priorities, that's fine too.

If what I said came across as an implication that realism has no place at all in the sport, then you either misread me or I didn't explain myself clearly enough, that's all it is.

  6. A real one might not, but the gun that he's posted there can function just fine. Unless I'm mistaken, this isn't a RS forum.

In airsoft, it's an entirely aesthetic part a large amount of the time. If you got rid of non-essential components such as the ones related to the gas system, you'd actually be creating a more skirmish practical rifle by shaving weight off.

  7. Pretty much same as above. I'd say tuck that wiring away, get yourself a T-1, and then look at the parts of the weapon that interface directly with your body (i.e. stock, pistol grip, foregrip). Have a think about which of those you find the least comfortable/ergonomic, and then look in to some Magpul/Vltor/Tangodown to replace them.

Edit: If you're stuck with regards the wiring, get yourself a suitable buffer tube (if the weapon doesn't already have one), wire to the rear and chuck a li-po in there.

  8. Yeah just popped the ICS rail on.

ICS rail? Did your rifle come with one then? Never seen that as an after market part.

Dont care about it being Gucci, its Magpul cause it works.

Shh.. that sounds like common sense. The angry mob hear you say that and they'll drag you away and beat you to death with a wooden AKM stock.

  9. King Arms have discontinued the CASV, so might be a tad tricky to get hold of. That, and yes, even without any rail sections bolted on it's heavier than a lot of modern designs of quad-rail FF handguard.

I really like my King Arms MRF, having something where you can remove the bottom rail is very very handy, so if you're going madbull then I'd advise plumping for a DD design which has that feature... just not the Omega, mine's badly off spec.

Overall of course, for total practicality, the MOE handguards are a winner.

  10. The sling goes to your optics rail then? Fair enough, "if it works". Probably a slightly better position than the integrated rear sling mount.

Props for doing something other than standard issue to your rail. Where'd you pick up your ELCAN? I've got the fixed 4x which is excellent but I'd like the switchable version.

Guessing you did a straight swap out of your dovetail rail for the picatinny there?

  11. God, that's how they make handguns legal here? I'd never actually seen it before now... I'm not even a 12 bore fan, but I'd rather stick to shotguns. Oh well.

I think MidwayUK probably still stocks a wider range of grips, but cheers for the link mate. You can never have enough bookmarks in this game!
