  1. Well hot damn.. there I was thinking the days of anyone actually taking the time to build stuff that was cool and different were over.

After the years it took me to do my first LM4, I can certainly empathise a lot.  Though I must confess I'm not personally a fan of Geissele forends or KAC in general (at least their newer stuff) but they both look awesome.  If I had to pick on aesthetics, I'd go for the Jack with that Cerakote, laser markings, the MRO and some of the other little details.  But the KeyMod and short barrel would certainly be more to my taste practicality wise.

My next GBBr (which will probably be done in 2018 I'd imagine) is actually going to be a 10.5" with some Jack inspiration as far as colouring; so kind of a combination of the above really.  Yeah, nice stuff gents, very nice.

  2. Boy, he really eased/radiused every edge/angle, didn't he...

dunno wat u mean m8.. carnt see it.

Plenty of texturing on the frame at least, good luck manipulating that slide in non-ideal conditions though.  Interesting how extreme the cut in the grip is, shows how long that was being done before commercial options eventually came out (I'm assuming these guns are real old, I don't actually know).

Those clips rather scare me though.  The 1911 safety has a real short movement on it; would not fancy 'holstering' IWB with just one of those things, not one bit.

  3. My perspective on 'authenticity' is very simple:  I have none.  If I could give less than zero *fruitcage*s about looking 'correct', I really really would.  If that makes you sad, then sorry but you'd better avoid the internet because I am going to continue posting stuff you don't like.  I know I'm not the only one.

  4.

I've done quite the 360 with my gear. I started with a CIRAS, got a Banshee, switched to a Strandhogg, "upgraded" to a JPC with a Hogg cummerbund, downgraded to an SOHPC, and now I'm using an old Eagle Plate Carrier.

For some reason I really like the design and simple features that my EPC offer.

    *snip*

To keep up with the Jones's I'm using a new cool piece of kit from a new company called Advance Dynamic which lets you retrofit older plate carrier designs to accept modular/scalable panels.

In one way I think you're certifiable, however I did have the Warrior copy of the EPC for a while and it is a decent design I can't argue.

I had a very similar kit made up myself about a year ago using a hypalon backer for the loop field and the female buckles mounted basically the same way.  I've been trying to sort of imply to a few of the big companies that kits like these and appropriate plate carriers are the way forward and it's going to be the way pretty much everyone goes in future, but it's taking a while for the idea to permeate.  Though HSP are working on their own PC which will no doubt be setup specifically for a modular front and people will buy their stuff like crazy just based on the brand so that'll help I'd imagine.

  5. I still think its hilarious that SAI wont admit they just used a timberwolf frame. "Build from the ground up" - my *albatross*.

Let's be honest, in the grand scheme of things, that is the very least of their sins as a business.

Not that it matters really.  Airsoft.

  6. I'd heard the outer barrel wasn't a necessity, never thought I'd see that put in to practice.

Have you pinned something down to negate the grip safety mechanism?  I'm not sure what the actual part itself impinges upon if I'm honest, been years since I took one apart.

  7. But how will SAI make a fortune from the baby candy resale business???

If I had big enough brasses to modify my service pistol (G17 for those unfamiliar), the most I'd consider doing would maybe constitute upgrading the sights and maybe an extended slide lock lever and a mag well... maybe.  I've seen how quickly Glock frames start to fail under light military usage though, you definitely don't want to be *fruitcage* up the plastic even more before you've even started carrying/using the thing.  That's the cool thing about airsoft though, you can make your shooter as trick as you like in true 3-gun style and enjoy the variety without any dire potential consequences.
