  1. That and the pressure differential from green gas from shot to shot. That lack of consistency (and the crummy hop, as rottenotto mentioned) are the biggest issues in my book.
  2. It's the stock M4 length barrel that comes with the gun, actually.
  3. Well, mine seems to be holding up nicely. Currently in Mk12 mod 1 configuration. I modded the stock grip into a molded SPR style grip made for a lefty, using some liquid nails and some sand mixed together to make a putty (the caulk stuff works better) to mold the right shape, and then painted on wood glue and sand until I had the right texture and smoothness once it hardened. Stock is still LE, will be changing that. Also added a custom mock suppressor made out of PVC and steel, using the plastic flashhider that came with mine. Still need a scope and maybe a swan sleeve, and probably
  4. Actually, it would be preferable to get a fix to the brass cylinder that is causing part 122 to fail. Also, bolt handles are still evidently breaking. Improve the quality of the material, or else stock the EdGI upgrade that I've been talking to Ed and Ben about. Roller bearing would be great, although I'm not having any issues with the stock one so far. An improved part 59 would be nice too. From reading through the thread, those are the biggest issues cropping up. Also, I'm going to be looking at the hopup next, since the gun is really not very accurate in stock form. Maybe they ca
  5. Okay, more questions. I'm having a devil of time polishing that brass part in the upper receiver to protect my #122. Did you remove it from the upper to polish it, and if so, how do I take it down? It's not quite as apparent as I'd hoped. -edit- Okay, never mind, I'm an idiot. For those who are also idiots, it pulls out the front of the receiver once you remove the barrel nut and barrel. No sweat. Also, instead of using water to wet my fine grit sandpaper, I'm using blade oil. Gives it a much nicer polish. Also, I removed part #59 to inspect it (may see about getting a tool st
  6. Just wanted to report that Echo 1 free float RIS with LaRue barrel nut fit (stiff to tighten, but did fit without causing any other issues) on the one I bought to review. I will be trying a CA SPR fiber quad kit next. I've been following this thread, and have a few ideas of my own to improve longevity. If they work, I'll post up. Also, I've been speaking to EdGI and bnoji about custom parts, and they seem to think that a steel charging handle is probably feasible. After I finish taking pics and such, I'm going to send my charging handle in and let them get measurements. Good news for tho
  7. Inner barrel is obviously vastly different in cut. But it looks to have a similar outer barrel, and the external shape is virtually identical. In fact, it looks like all I have to do is cut down the back of the barrel to match, and file down the bump depicted here: The AEG barrel is longer, but it looks like it should be pretty simple to cut off the back portion, and with that done, it looks like there's a decent chance it will fit.
  8. beautiful, thanks. It actually looks to me like the outer diameter is the same, so all we should have to do is just remove the top bar or cut the receiver to fit it. I'm aware that the inner barrel isn't the same, but it looks like the outer diameter of the inner barrel is still close enough to an AEG barel--its just that it's got a gas gun cut, not a AEG cut. I'm going to probably be getting one shortly from airsoft buddy and will do an SPR conversion. I'll keep you all updated with my progress, assuming twinturbo doesn't beat me to it.
  9. Great, that would be perfect. I may be getting one to review from Airsoft Buddy--the CS from them is great, and will be doing the same. Please keep me posted when you get yours. I'm also not bothered about inner barrel--EdGI will be making tightbores for this gun, so no sweat.
  10. Gah. Any word about what might be necessary to fit an SPR length outer barrel? Surely someone has an AEG M4 barrel and a WE M4 that they can take pics of...
  11. Okay, I just spent 2 days reading through all 81 pages, and I'm wondering if those of you that have the WE can help me out, since unfortunately I didnt see an answer that was informative enough. I'm wanting to build an SPR Mk12 mod 0 using this gun as a base. I gather that the handguard will fit fine, but of course the sticking point is the outer barrel, which is not the same as an AEG barrel. And, I have no idea whether or not it is possible to get an AEG outer barrel to fit, assuming I do some work with a saw/dremel or something, or maybe file off the little nub things on the AEG barr
  12. Guinness, if you decide you want to sell this gun, let me know. I want one, although I'm going to try to get one to write a full review on as well, and do my usual deal of coming up with budget performance mods to maximize performance. And, we both live in Colorado
  13. Don't know if any of you have encountered this yet, but my grip and upper receiver hinge snapped off. The grip broke off around the screw, which is all that holds it on, and the upper receiver hinge snapped in half. This happened during transport in a padded bag. I don't think it's alloy--it looks very much like pot metal to me. Internals and performance are great though.
  14. Mine has plastic handguards (got it from RSOV). Brown box, no manual. I'll be getting my review up in a week or two.
  15. Nope, it's standard polarity. It's the AGM that has reversed polarity. Kart and CYMA both are standard. Full review completed. I also did a video review, but it's too big to upload to youtube, sadly, so I need to edit it down. http://groups.google.com/group/asgar/web/a...n-rifle-reviews
  16. Nope, nothing on the receiver at all. In fact, I don't think it even says CYMA anywhere on the gun. Darklite, you know if CYMA is going to do the EBR also?
  17. I will be doing a full review, this is just a teaser to answer your preliminary questions while I test the gun. 1. I used some calipers to measure it. I checked because it was reported to be a tightbore on gunner. 2. It's metal, it doesn't originally come orange painted, I just had RSOV paint it orange for US customs. He painted a little more than I had expected... 3. I have no idea yet, it's a hi-cap, and I didn't want to count them out one by one quite yet. I'll get you more exact numbers later.
  18. Here's a brief teaser for the new CYMA M14, which arrived today, courtesy of Keith at RSOV. It's the newest and best M14 out from China, with a lot of nice features. Here's the full gun: The faux wood is much nicer than the UTG/Kart, with less glare, and the heatshield is matte instead of shiny. It also boasts a metal gas tube, better finish than the AGM, and a full metal buttplate, without that annoying shiny plastic like on the UTG: The magazine appears to be a different size than the Kart, but the Kart mag fits in nicely. The front sight is mor
