  1. Yes, and actually the prototype I showed on the video last month was even on stock buffer/receiver. Surprisingly it wasn't the pot metal externals that didn't hold up but the piston instead. So they're back to square 1. I think your choice to pick up the current SURUS is fine. I anticipate to be playing with that for quite a few more games before a reliable stronger prototype comes out.
  2. I'd personally recommend going for 1400mAh instead of 1100mAh. This is what I use now :- http://www.gunsmithbaton.com/product/274
  3. That's one of my greatest pain points of the DD AR 15 lite rail. It's a PITA to dismantle and and reassemble. In addition with the thick AWG wires and the size of my Extreme Fire SW-Long AB FET, I have to insert/install the outer barrel, barrel shims, barrel lock, etc. in a particular order for it to assemble correctly. I've got the procedure laid out already but still a PITA.
  4. Wow, really digging back into history here. I think I used the regular Madbull barrel nut (rather than the limited edition one for GBB's). Here's some old posts I made of my evolving Sopmod with pix of the DD 9" :- Overall DD with old Sopmod stock :- http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/158786-initial-impressions-of-the-tm-sopmod-m4-aeg/page__st__100__p__2013059&do=findComment&comment=2013059 DD shim on the lower screws to make sure the ring is flush, and outer barrel custom to make room for the Extreme Fire's SW-AB-Long FET :- http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk
  5. Needed to get it before the paint and have it engraved by a friend, then bring back to Echigoya for the repaint. To be honest though, no idea what my friend used.
  6. Here's pix of my receiver :- I can talk to them to see if they're making more blank lower receivers. You'll have to find someone else to do any custom work for you though.
  7. OMG, I've picked up the receiver no more than 2 hrs ago and you guys have already found the pix and posted it up here ;-)!? What I can say is that the lower is -very- well CNCed, very light (aluminium!?), and just very well finished overall. I've not tried swapping my receivers yet so can't comment on fit. However I did see a model hanging on the rack and so guess no fitment issues - having said that, the model is probably Echigoya's CNCed buffer tube, & (soon to be released) upper receiver too so naturally no fit issues there. I've further had my lower receiver customised by someone e
  8. Nutter ;-). When it breaks, see if you go back to the SOCOM. Mind you though, at Tokyo Move, the guys did manage to fit in a recoil engine variant into their Systema PTW. It actually felt very nice and responsive especially with their electronic hair trigger. However at USD$3250 it was somewhat beyond my budget ;-) (not to mention I had no idea what the reliability was going to be).
  9. That enhanced SURUS or whatever it's called is still not out yet. I'm not sure how far they are with their patent. AFAIK, I have only played with one prototype and don't know if they have more. i.e. how far along they are into mass production vs concept, I don't know. P.S. I'm stating my opinion, i.e. I'm not trying to sway sales either way.
  10. AFAIK, the final design is as per my post here. You can see in the last pix, they had already made so many of those :- http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/158786-initial-impressions-of-the-tm-sopmod-m4-aeg/page__view__findpost__p__2492037 However before they got there they tried quite a few different designs :-
  11. Actually, no...it's more like the DD AR 15 lite, not the RIS 2.
  12. Nope and if you use the plastic base there's a high chance you'll have motor height adjustment issues (with most motors...in fact I'm wondering what motor works with the MIAD/MOE plastic base). See here for more info :- http://www.tkoverkill.com/showthread.php?tid=1209 Here you go, but I highly recommend not to watch it full screen or you're gonna get motion sickness. Apologies, I was videoing this from my iPhone :- http://vimeo.com/32142942
  13. Correct, I've got a video of Echigoya doing this to my CNC buffer tube. Remind me to edit/upload tonight to show you what had to be done. But now I have a Magpul UBR on my Sopmod .
  14. Yes after they've gotten the patent. However I think releasing it soon would probably be mistake too since the SURUS was just released. To then sell the varient with an even bigger kick would make the SURUS obsolete quick.
  15. What makes you think so ;-)?? Hehehe, but you're right that I'd probably will despite the costs. Afterall I have already had to replace the stock lower receiver & buffer tube once due to cr@ppy pot metal. However, the other reason this CNC is 'cos the new Echigoya recoil (not the SURUS that's on sale now but the variant which I put the video up on) kicks like crazy and will need the CNC buffer tube/lower receiver at least for durability.
  16. First I'd say check your battery. If that's fully charged and ok, then I'd say check both your recoil spring, recoil weight, power spring, & piston alignment alignment. If that's ok then check your selector plate position. For me though if I get that 95% is the battery.
  17. Combat shirt/pants from Tactical Performance whilst pouches from Volk Tactical.
  18. This was in a game last weekend. Sadly as everyone told me, A-TACS stood out in the environment (not surprisingly naturally) :-
  19. Get the right sized punch & hammer slowly but firmly. It'll come out. U probably can find pix in this thread I put up a few months back.
  20. Which pins? If it's the handguard pin, be careful - I've cracked my handguard already before. You'll need to check the pin retainer clip alignment. It rotates semi-freely and can sometimes be misaligned that makes the pin hard to remove (and when you hammer that pin, that's when you break the handguard).
  21. Yes most definitely (search through this thread for the CNC lower/upper). Also with the SURUS or even this other SURUS variant, you're going to need torque up gears/motor. Definitely not appropriate for a high speed setup. After Echigoya patents and produces this, I definitely want one .
  22. I did inquire bout the a reinforced GB but it seems this time TM has got a patent on the Recoil Engine GBs. Presumably that the patent is local Japan rather than international so locally at least, it's somewhat of a showstopper for others to copy (and improve) the design without paying royalties to TM.
  23. I can't remember if it was asked on this thread or if it was asked elsewhere but someone was asking if Echigoya was going to make a heavier recoil unit for the SCAR-L the way they made the SURUS for the Sopmod. He felt the standard TM-SCAR-L's recoil weight was heavy enough and it wouldn't make sense to make a heavier recoil weight as it'll weaken the mechbox. So for now, it looks like the kick of the standard TM-SCAR-L is all you'll get.
  24. I thought this one deserves its own post. Whilst having my SURUS modified, I got the opportunity to test something very new. This is something that's evolved from the SURUS and hasn't even got a product name yet. I'm hoping I can give the the maker some ideas on a product name for it. It has a much larger kick. My understanding is the SURUS recoil unit, the piston & the piston head are combined together to function as one unit. As such the power spring is now moved behind the recoil unit in the buffer tube (instead of in front). This reduces the need for synchronicity of the recoil
