Where did you get the modified hop arms?
Or did you make them yourself? :) my brother is searching for those

I make them myself - I'm trying to narrow down the measurements so I can 3D print them for sale.

Cheers man - trying to keep the stock TM purity but when something does go properly wrong I will be in touch as i have a few ideas.

BTW: is there a reason the inner barrels are so short? A cylinder thing?

    Cheers!

Partly down to the volume, but also because I suspect TM didn't want to fall afoul of the strict Japanese 0.98J limit.

That being said, I did up a AA-12 for a friend down south recently - M190 spring, rewired it with a proper 3034 based mosfet and flat hopped it with modified hop arms to get rid of the 45 degree spread. Does 0.9J and flings 0.28g bbs out to 50m+ easily with a man-sized grouping. Apparently it's very OP now!

Hi guys - was skirmishing in heavy rain this weekend and it seemed to make the mosfet cut out - was flashing red on a 1 second timer. Anything i can do apart from cover it in electrical tape?

Also skirmish before the pin that holds the rear sling mount vanished - one to look out for!

    Cheers.

I've rewired a few for customers with better mosfets. Send me an email at shop@dlcustoms.eu

Only negative I can see (and it is literally the only thing) on your beautiful looking build is if it was a real one you’d soon be howling with your fingers that close to the muzzle break 😖

True, though with that muzzle break everyone else in about 10m of me would be deaf, blind and concussed the minute I light up anyway

I did actually accept my error and basically recanted all my concerns a few days ago , plus I did state that your a well known player in the uk Airsoft community and I very much doubted you’d have indulged in any ‘overkill’ just simply stated a small concern how many rounds could be delivered in a single burst .

    All good bud ?

All good - I didn't mean it to come across as aggressive, I honestly just wanted to detail why I would build a 50rps AEG and optimise it for CQB.

As much as I like the look of it (and I do) I do have to ask why this ?

your profile say your located in Edinburgh so your a UK player which means at 404fps you can’t use this gun over here ???

Plus says perfect size for CQB , and it is , but yet again if you use a 50rps gun in that environment there’s going to be some very angry and P***ed off players on the other team .

well confused mate by your train of thought for this build mate .

Let me clear some things up for you:

    Firstly, ss other's have mentioned, 1.05J = 337fps on a 0.2g bb, not 404fps, and it's doing 1.05J on 0.25g bbs.

Load it with 0.2g bbs and it actually chronos about 0.95J or 320fps. Load it with 0.28g bbs and it does 1.12J.

Joule creep is quite pronounced on something with a very short barrel like this - the upshot being I can use the same AEG in CQB and woodland by just changing the weight of bbs used and still stay under the power limits.

In CQB we're limited to semi only, and with a 50rps AEG, my semi auto trigger response is about 20ms, compared to a stock AEG at 15rps having a ~67ms trigger response. Doesn't sound like much, but when you're in CQB and someone runs past a doorway, that extra 50ms before the bb leaves the barrel is enough to make it impossible to hit them unless you fire before you see them. The ability to get off 2-3 shots for every 1 that the enemy can is also a plus.

In woodland, I actually use this as a secondary to a LMG because we have rules about semi-auto only inside buildings or bases, and my Stoner96 doesn't have a semi auto mode, so this little AR15 pulls double duty as a pistol substitute or a close-range defensive weapon in case I get bumped up close.

And lastly, I use it on semi 95% of the time. Even on the full auto setting, it's programmed to do a 3rnd burst, wait 500ms and then start full auto proper. That way, if someone's dug into very deep bush, I can still use a 3rnd burst to get to them. Full auto proper is reserved for suppressing (you'd be very surprised how few people want to move when they hear 50rps rattling off hard cover nearby) and the occasional "maybe if I stay really still and pretend I'm not hit they won't notice I'm cheating" Kevlar Kenny.

    My personal lightweight AR build!

Based on a DYTAC BCM carbine, it has nice engraved trademarks and a lovely Ceracote finish. I don't baby my kit and tend to throw my stuff around, and the finish has a few nicks and dings here and there but for the most part, it's held up great!

The DYTAC gearbox and lower receiver have a great quick-change spring mechanism that lets me swap springs out with a single screw, which I love as it means I can run this in CQB at <1J or in woodland at 1.25J.

I feed it with DYTAC's new transparent HEXMAG midcaps, which I've tinted a darker grey to cut down on reflections. There's a video review of those in the works, but they feed beautifully and the transparent versions are great as you can quickly see how much ammo you have left to get those tactical reloads in at the best times.

    Externally:
    - DYTAC 13" BCM base AEG (14.5" barrel)
    - DYTAC BCM GF pistol grip, keymod foregrip and B5 stock in WG
    - DYTAC T1 replica on a QD mount
    - PTS Gen 1 MBUS
    - PTS ASAP plate
    - RetroArms CNC trigger, bolt catch, forward assist, selector and selector cap in black
    - FMA CNC ambidextrous magazine catch in black
    - DYTAC BCM Muzzle break

    Internally:
    - SHS 16tpa Neo Motor
    - SHS 12:1 gears ss-3
    - M120 spring
    - DYTAC FMR piston and piston head with bearing
    - Viton O ring
    - G&P cylinder head with Sorbo
    - DYTAC gearbox with QSC, radius'd
    - G&P M4 air nozzle with O ring
    - GATE V2 TITAN
    - DYTAC Rotary hop unit
    - Mapleleaf Crazy Jet 410mm barrel and 50deg hop rubber
    - M nub

She does 1.25J @38rps on an 11.1v lipo and flings 0.28g bbs over 60m+ easily.

Latest DSG build, based on an APS Mk6 AEG:

    – BTC MK1 spectre MOSFET unit
    – SHS 16tpa neo motor
    – M150 spring
    – SHS 8T DSG, 18:1
    – CYMA FMR piston, Swiss cheesed and AOE adjusted
    – Radius cuts and a sorbo pad on the cylinder head
    – Krytac hop up unit
    – 170×6.01mm tightbore barrel
    – Flat Hop and M nub

Does 50rps @1.05j on an 11.1v. Perfect size for CQB and that amplifier does give it a bark to match it’s bite!

    Hi!

Is it possible to put AK-stick (which fit under top cover) LiPo battery under the front handguard at G3?

We speak about RS plastic and wood handguards, and not the wide bipod-black one. I can remove wood/plstic inside, I have all routers, dremels etc.

I not often see collapsible stock G3 AEGs with those thin handguards, so I suspect something...

I'd say it's pretty much impossible unless you take a lot of material out, use bullet connectors and a lipo with separated cells.

I just hide a small brick battery in between the arms of the sliding stock.

Would I be right in thinking I would run into problems if I used any other rail mount than the VFC for a VFC/WE MP5 GBB as the receiver is RS spec?  The standard typical no name/China mount wouldn't work?

The VFC is 100% RS spec, but the WE is sliiiiightly wider (by about 0.8-1mm) in the frontend fitting. Plastic foregrips will fit as they have some flex, but metal RIS frontends for the RS won't. The CYMA KAC style MP5 RIS frontend will fit fine though.

Up top though, all the MP5/G3 claw mounts or RIS mounts fit fine.

  12. I'm somewhat interested in making a gas blowback version of one of these: https://www.wgcshop.com/products?search_From=searchBrand&item=el-aimr-aeg-platinum-version&search=special&rs=searchBrand&catid=&cat=&view_choice=b

WGC also sells the AEG front https://www.wgcshop.com/products?search_From=searchBrand&item=e-l-r-outer-barrel-assembly&search=special&rs=searchBrand&catid=&cat=&view_choice=a

Anyone know how feasible this is, starting with a WE 74U? Don't have a mill or lathe, so it would be hand tools and Dremil. Thoughts?

It's not impossible with hand tools but it will be quite a bit of a fuss - for best results, I'd get a spare WE AKM outer barrel and chuck it on a lathe to get it cut to size to fit the E&L parts.

  13. Just a small update. While I widened the hop window right after I got it to provide more hop (as I do to all new WE guns), I found accuracy to be lacking. Grouping roughly 8" at 20m my Makarov does better even with the suppressor off. I was examining the barrel and noticed the roughly machined crown so stuck it on my ghetto lathe (power drill) and proceeded to clean it up: refaced the front edge with a file (was kinda bumpy originally), sanded and polished the deep chamfer to a mirror polish (had a ridged pattern presumably from being turned). Surprisingly enough, it shrunk groups in half! Will do some more extended testing as this now appears to have the potential to be a viable sniping handgun.

I remember rebuilding a really ancient TM M4a1 for a friend on a budget which effectively only covered a metal receiver, rail and outer barrel with minimal amounts left over for internals. I ended up cutting down the stock TM inner on a lathe before recrowning it and giving it a quick polish and it's pretty much on par with the Madbul black 6.03mm tightbores everyone used to rave about a few years back.
