  1. I've got a Classic Army P90TR coming in, will be putting up an in-depth review, if anyone cares

At the very least, the externals should kick TM's *albatross* to hell. (I used to own one) This, in my opinion, is justification enough; shame that such a nice gun has a pitiful build like TM's.

Between my CA90 RD proline and my TM P90 RD, I still like the look and feel of the TM slightly better. A little later, I'll be able to compare the Echo1 to the CA proline to the TM to the toytec (just for kicks) to the Well R9 (just because I can) in pictures, and get a family picture. Yes, I'm a little obsessed.

See http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=176447&st=20&p=2318123entry2318123 and the subsequent post of mine in that thread for my thoughts of the CA proline compared to the TM. I think I disregarded the price because I've bought basically all my P90s used (only one currently in my collection that was bought new was the Well R9), and my upgraded TM and the CA proline were effectively bought for the same price of around $140, where they both shoot about the same velocity, so I can't say which is necessarily better value.

  2. Thanks for the info. Will a TM cheek rest suffice? also, I presume the scope mount you have attached is a TM? I heard they wobble a bit on G&G receivers, is this true? Thanks for the help.

On another note, what scope do you guys think would go well with a sg 550? I want something along the lines of an ACOG but I have the notion that it would look a bit small on the gun, would an ELCAN look any good?

I would imagine the TM one might work, though it might have the same problem as the ICS version with the inability to fold the stock. Also, finding a TM one nowadays is tough, isnt it? As long as you don't mind not being able to fold and lock the stock while the cheek rest is on, the ICS should be fine.

The scope mount I use on it now is actually from my JG. The TM high mounts were actually more wobbly than the JG was, and it also put the scope too high to be usable. Basically, it seems that the tightening nub doesn't line up with the indent in the rear sight assembly quite right. It's a little bit too high. There could also be a minor difference in the front locking mechanism too, but it seems to hold there fine and be level with the top of the receiver. I intend on getting the G&G mounts for it at some point, and hopefully those will fit properly, but for $28 or $43 plus shipping, I don't need it yet. As long as I tighten the JG one enough and don't force my scope around, it seems to be firm enough. I haven't tried the ICS scope mount, but since (I think) I've read that it has no issues with fitting on the JG, I would assume it will have the same issue as the TM and JG ones on the G&G. Below is a picture of the JG scope mount on a JG and on a G&G:

As for the scope, I just recently ordered (maybe 5 hours ago) a new scope for my 550. I thought I'd like a nice big scope like an 3.5-10x40 M3 scope or something, and in my picture have a Centerpoint 4-16x40 (that is closer in size to a 50mm scope). After having that on the gun, I decided that it was a bit too big and mounted a little bit too high for my liking. Also, I think that it feels like the scope sits kind of far forward and makes the gun look funny with it on. There's a picture somewhere in the first 10 or 15 pages of someone else's TM/JG based 550 that I kind of like the look of, but in addition to the scope being a bit big, the hassle of having to take off the scope every time I need to deal with the battery was getting to me. The scope is a bit huge, and I think it looks fine on my AW-338, but on the SG 550, it's a bit big.

Anyway, I kind of like the looks of the ACOG, but most of them that have zoom capabilities (i.e. not just a red dot) are a bit on the expensive side. I was browsing around RSOV for some stuff to order before their sale ends, and had seen http://rsov.com/index.php?target=products&...product_id=4517 show up recently. To me, it looks like a cross between a scope and an ACOG, and I guess it looks like some of the NCStar scopes (which are also going to be maybe $100+). I kind of like the looks of it, and it didn't seem too expensive, especially once I ordered a few more things to defray the shipping a little bit. In hindsight, it may have a similar issue of getting in the way of the hand guard when trying to switch the battery, and I may need to get a short riser mount for it, but hopefully it will look fine.

It just occurred to me while looking for the picture of the SG 550 that I kind of like the look of (but couldn't imagine doing it to my G&G) that browsing through this entire thread would give some possible ideas of what scopes you might like the look of with your G&G. Sometimes you just have to imagine what the scope would look like on a 550 instead of the 551, 552 or 556. The SG 550 I was thinking of earlier was appslapp's ( http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...t&p=1931133 ). It could just be the combination of the smaller scope, lower mounting, the paint job, and the overall look. Also, since I was bored, I did some of the looking for you.

  3. It's the ICS cheek rest. It doesn't quite fit right on the G&G, especially when the stock is folded (i.e. the stock does not fold and lock when it is on). I haven't fiddled with my SIGs recently, but from what I remember, the way that it fits and the location of the front pin relative to the hole in the cheek rest makes me realize the minor differences between each of the brands that you would not otherwise notice. It does work excellently at elevating my eye to the level of the scope that was on there (which is currently with my AW338, since it seemed awkwardly big on the SIG 550 among other reasons). At some point soon, I'll have a new family picture, since the family has grown since those pictures.

  4. My G&G is currently one of my two primaries (along with my P90). It is by far the nicest of my Sigs. The ICS was kind of a letdown, but I may still use it more often the the G&G in the future just because it is lighter and more maneuverable and overall more manageable. The downside to using such a big scope with it is that I have to remove the scope in order to access the battery, which is kind of a pain.

I finally got the family together for a group picture.

When you put too many mags together and then try to attach too many Sigs to them, the mags are more likely to crack. After cracking one when I attached 4 of them together and was holding a quadruple Sig, I decided to avoid doing so again. Also, holding 4 airsoft guns that are attached by their mags is awkward and heavy, especially when the G&G with the scope and stuff weighs something like 13lb alone. It's also really weird when you're loading the gun onto the mags instead of loading the mags into the gun...

  5. Since I haven't reached that 100 post limit to be able to see the sales section (though I can get to the classifieds page and browse that, which i only found out about recently), I can't say for certain, but if it's like BST sections on other forums, allowing users to browse that section without being in a certain group could allow those people the system is trying to keep out to get in and potentially scam other users. There would be nothing to prevent the user from just sending a PM to the seller, where it would then rest upon the seller to determine if the potential buyer is trustworthy. I figure the system in place seems to work better than it used to, so users just need to get to 100 (useful) posts before being granted access.
