  1. Ya know one thing I find funny about all the problems etc is...I have a Maruzen Scorp, and my buddy has the mp5k. After 1 simple upgrade to each of them they shoot insanely well on GG/Propane.

Those designs have been around for what, 8 years? 6? Something like that. It'll get ironed out, I just don't like being the one that gets boned while these guys make their money and make 'new' versions that look like ###### with better internals.

I know, don't be a first adopter if you don't like it. Well, sue me for complaining a bit. I put a bunch of effort into the review and I get to kvetch a bit if I want to. Okay, all better.

I didn't really keep track of gas consumption. Gas use did not change in my book. I didn't do anything to recoil spring, etc., only barrel length. 10 fills per can of propane sounds about right. Maybe a bit more than that, actually. Doesn't matter, it'll be an HPA powered magazine here later today. I'm not dropping a G on 8 mags. This will be another medium range rifle to take the place of my CA SA58 carbine. Maybe. If it doesn't eat more of its own guts.

  2. Finally made some time to document (photographically at least, I have yet to write the copy) the process of installing the RA Tech hop up unit. Very simple installation, nicer fit than the stock unit. My magazine is at a friend's house being drilled, tapped and fitted with an external QD fitting. When I get it back, I'll start testing. In the interim, I'll write up the copy and post the install guide and my observations. Review portion will have to wait obviously.

  3. As for the DD RAS, you're out of luck until we can get metal receivers. As with AEG metal bodies, we'll most likely need to rethread them to fit accessories like a DD RAS or LaRue FF which require the use of a real barrel nut. For those of you who've done this I'm sure you'll agree when I say that it is not a something you look foward to repeating anytime soon. Hope this helps.

    Nut

I'm not familiar with the DD or LaRue RAS units, but if they're not a barrel nut in and of themselves, the stock gun can accomodate real forearms with the addition of a simple spacer. See the first picture of my review (MRFS on there). :)

  4. so far im not really impressed with the gun...i bought it used and after some shot i started to have trouble...my bb's roll out of the barrel, so i just changed my hop up chamber for the ra-tech and have a new nozzle on the way (i hope this will fix it..). (both pieces was slighty broken)

You bought a broken gun that someone else couldn't be bothered to fix. All the answers to the questions you ask are found in this thread.

i received somes brand new mags today, 2 of them don't even keep gaz, its all leaking in 2-5 sec.

I posted a fix many pages ago, as well as that that can be found on the forum indicated above.

im not able to put a sling adaptor on the buffer tube...and my DD (RS) ras won't fit.

What kind? An AEG sling adaptor? If so...yeah, no, that won't work. My Midwest Industries buffer tube adapter works just fine. As for the RAS, that's been covered. Add a spacer between the outer barrel and the barrel nut to get it close enough to spec to work. I have a Samson rail on mine that fit with a 15 cent o-ring added to correct the spacing.

anyone can help me with any of my trouble?

Read up, my friend. I've run across all of this stuff, figured it out and included it in my posts in this thread. Go find it. :)

  5. Nice looking weapon.

As you point out, that won't work. There is a series of roll pins and a fatter, solid pin that hold the baseplate and the front channel of the magazine in place. Make sure the gas is vented before you start removing roll pins. Ask me how I know.

  6. Does anyone have a thorough review of the RS hop chamber to share with us yet?

    All,

Been going through some personal ###### lately that has completely zapped ALL of my airsoft and tinkering time. RA were kind enough to send me a T&E unit and I will conduct a review as soon as things settle down. Apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience.

  7. part 13 (spring in blowbackchamber) is in place.

    lube is ok...

but rubber on magazine blocks blowback chamber from moving back been freezed a bit after 10-15 rapid shots - it's looks like spring 13 is loosened...

    I'm lost...

Have you disassembled your magazine? If so, you may have reassembled the top bit out of alignment (as I did once). If the top plate of the magazine is not aligned correctly, the seal you're talking about will sit too high and not allow the bolt to move freely. I had the same issue and took out the two hex screws on top of the magazine, removed that plate, reset the plate correctly and it worked fine after.

    Hope that helps.

  8. Basically like the old KWC External rig adapters? A small QD attachment for the gas hose screws in to the spot where the fill valve would normally be. I'm not too familiar with external gas rigs, but the adapters are only around $1 each and fit most of the threading for GBB fill valves. You might want to check them out if you haven't already put a lot of effort into designing your own. :)

Similar to that, yes. The WA has a very long fill valve assembly and the threads are very fine as well as being recessed a ways into the body of the magazine. Going to take some effort. I know when I'm outmatched, so I handed it off to the machinist. :)

  9. I should clarify what I mean by kit. This is a 'plug-in' fitting to the gas fill port on the stock WA magazine.

The 'kit' I'm talking about will be a simple replacement for the gas fill valve to employ an external line feeding the gas magazine so I don't have to butcher a $100 magazine to convert it to external air.

I play as a Designated Marksman pretty much exclusively, so what I think will work as a DM will likely not appeal to most players. 50 rounds for me is about a whole game worth of shooting. 50 rounds at DM velocities with no cooldown is what I'm looking for. If nothing else this will showcase what the gun is capable of accuracy- and range-wise when cooldown is removed from the equation.

  10. RA Tech are sending me a hop unit for T&E. I will document my observations and post them as a separate piece.

Thread in external air conversion should happen on mine in the next few weeks. Mike (proprietor of righthookfabrication.com and one of my co-captains) will be doing the project. If there's interest I'll see what he might want for an external kit. Just need to hand off the magazine and probably buy him a big ole steak to get the project underway. :)

  11. drdude -

See the original review for a walkthrough of how to attach real rails. In a nutshell, the barrel nut is not built to spec. Add a spacer (I used an AEG piston head o-ring) to correct the headspacing of the barrel nut and real accessories drop right on.

  12. Again, 'hop up collar' is a misnomer. The hop up unit is one piece, the adjustment dial is another. Part of the hop up unit breaks off. People have been calling it a collar, but it's just the rearmost part of the unit.

From the picture I saw of that black metal unit, it's what you need.

  13. Payne, yes. It's skirmish ready out of the box. Removing the hop up is pretty straightforward. See my post a couple of pages ago where I provided instructions for swapping inner barrels.

Wow poison, sorry to hear you've fallen out of love. I understand the frustration. The hop up isn't useless. I get 220-240 feet of flat, very accurate flight out of mine (sorry Trasher, no groups. It's a great base for a DMR though, trust me). The hop does have issues, though, I grant you that.

I had magazine issues, but I tinker with everything regardless, so I just fixed the thing and it's done. Turned out there were a few issues with my magazine, none of them fatal, or catastrophic, but rather QC issues that I had to fix. One, the phillips screw that holds the anti-siphon tube in place was loose which resulted in a maddening rattle. I tightened it. Two, while I was in there I added teflon tape below the main seals at the top and bottom of the mag. Three, there was a piece of something smaller than a grain of sand on the o-ring that sealed off the magazine from the outside air and it was trickling gas out. I couldn't even see the bit of gunk until I wiped it onto a white cotton rifle barrel cleaning patch. No more issues after that. Mags seal nicely and operate perfectly.

As far as Propane, ehhhh not sure whether it's that or the fact that we're all gravitating toward heavier ammo that needs more hop up dialed in to get maximum range from the gun. The hop up breakages are related (IMHO) to dialing in too much hop, which causes an obstruction to the bore and results in jams. What happens is that a new round is trying to make its way into the chamber and cannot because the previous round can't get past the hop up arm/rubber. I had mine apart and stared at it for awhile and have a few ideas to alleviate the problem, just haven't done it yet. I think adding a cushioned bit of rubber/silicone wire jacketing to the hop up arm will alleviate the issue. Again, to restate it, when you add hop up, you're cramming a plastic arm into the path of the BB. The arm is spring loaded and has a thin sheet of rubber stretched over it, but at the end of the day I think that's a bad way to go.

When I have some time (next month I'll be freed up) I'll be dedicating some energy to creating a workaround to the hop up and testing it. Of course, I'm sure as soon as I figure something out that's useful, an aftermarket part will magically appear. Heh. Meantime, try an AEG hop up nub in between the hop up arm and the hop up rubber and see what happens. I bet the jams will lessen or disappear. You're welcome.

  14. I had the original stock barrel in there when I chronoed the gun for the first time at 392 or whatever it was. A true CQB/10.5" length barrel (the stock one is shorter than the outer barrel as you probably know) would get you up over 400 fps.

The M4 length barrel that's in the gun now is a one-off 6.08 (measured) brass barrel that I had turned on a lathe and milled from an AEG inner barrel that I had laying around.

    Edit:

Just received an email from Redwolf advising of an article on the internals of the magazine. Nice read if you haven't already taken yours all apart to little bitty pieces. ;)
