Is fitting a Guarder kit on a TM 1911 really THAT bad?

Really? Why so? I know about the leaf spring and trimming part of the BBU, but is the fit that bad?

its not THAT bad, it's just filing, and sanding and generally 'fitting' stuff, that just makes it not worth while. Now, the Frames, aren't all that bad, they add a nice bit of weight over TM ABS and dont' really degrade performance. Also the frame doesn't (particularly) impact the gas workings, other than the mag placement in the magwell, Guarder Slides, I've found never to live up to their TM ABS Counterparts.

I've got two Guarder kitted M1911s. The first one, my MEU, took a little bit of sanding and filing, but now it is as smooth as butter and has (oddly) the same gas efficiency as the stock MEU.
The other one, a M1911A1 kit, lags slightly behind but that might be because I installed a metal barrel instead of keeping the stock one.
I think both kits were worth it. They add weight and looks to the amazing TM internals
