In America, one would be absolutely stupid to pick a .223 over a .22. That ###### comes in 500 rand boxes, and each box is a bit bigger than a softball. A .22 semi-auto rifle is also much quieter than a .223. However, I'm not sure how the ammo situation is in Britain.

In Britain we have, well if you can get one the only semi auto we can have is a .22, the rest would be bolt or breech loading, failing that a shotgun. :P

I see the arguement for a .22, I just wouldn't feel confident enough in the damage it was doing... There's also the fact from a personal standpoint, I'd be confident that I could maintain an AR, whereas I couldn't say the same for a 10/22 or whatever else. Plus, I'd be carrying a gun to deal with humans as well. A .22 would definitely be easier to obtain ammo for, quieter etc in either the US or the UK, I'd just feel a lot more comfortable with a bigger round fired by a gun I'm familiar with.
