  1. How are the new 715's compared to the older Wessons ?

Just picking up shooting again and the new range may be more exotic than just 10m Match so curious to build quality of the 4.5mm version pistols for possible speed shooting/competition use.

Still got my price western rig and safariland jets from the airsoft wesson i had a few years back.

It does seem that spare sears and cylinder latch/star are easier to get now as the old cylinder lock up and cycle sears where short lived with heavy use.

  2. Ditch the silencer,  add maybe a FAB Defense grip/magwell and a handfull of 40rd mags and some nice .30 bb's and i would primary that 1911  :)

Do like the iron sights,  nice work,  very nice as have it.

  3. AK needs a hello kitty sticker to be complete :)

Looking at your Sig pic and at that photo.......  makes sense :)

I have a question though,  other players get the right hump when they get capped at range by a pistol,  do players you bag also have to leave and avoid forums for a week to avoid ridicule from team mates and so called friends.

Keep up the outstanding maverick work old chap

  4. tis on internetz :)

O-ring fixed hop conversion for Wessys  (short version)

AEG barrel,  chop bit off to length required.

Machine down/grind down/file down the muzzle end of barrel as a spring has to slip over it,  this becomes clearer when you remove the stock alloy barrel.

Test fit for spring fittment and outer diameter of your chosen brass barrel will fit inside the forcing cone (barrel to cylinder interface)

Then a few mil in from the breech end,  cut a 1mm X 1mm groove around the diameter of the barrel (or thereabouts)  cut through the barrel to make a window for the o-ring to sit through.   Size of the window dictates amount of hop.

Slip o-ring into groove,  now file down protruding material that's not sitting in the groove,  this will help with getting the forcing cone back on the barrel.

You need to make a square washer to glue onto the barrel,  this stops the barrel rotating (it's sprung) and will keep the hop in the 12 o'clock position.

Rebuild and hopefully get more than 25 meters range at 340fps (detuned mine with a new hammer spring)

:)   i know something is working because my barrel rotated the hop to 11 o'clock causing a curve off at 10m........soooo if i can get to 35 meters i will be well happy with my chrome 6 shooter,  any further i might wet myself with excitement and bolt a red dot on.

  5. Questions for the Dan Wesson owners.

I have just bought one of the 6" ones (in shiny shiny chrome, naturally ;) ) What are my best bets holster wise?

I'm ideally after something in brown leather and either chest or belt mounted to go with my safari-esque park ranger loadout.

Do you think the US M7 holster would take it? I like that style.

Also, what was the final word on RS speedloaders? Do the shells fit? I bought some power down shells and they don't come with them, frustratingly only the skirmish-unfriendly shells come with them. <_<

Holster wise,  just a cheap Viper  molle hip holster works fine,  your 6" will poke out the bottom a bit,  i also have an old price western quick draw shoulder holster and a double speed loader pouch.  As i got them about 20 years apart :)  the shades of brown don't match.....but who cares,  still looks good.

I bought a job lot of jets and some pouches.  Got another Wesson owner who had inert .357/.38specials test fit them in the Wesson Jets,  they fit.

The Seidler jets are slightly to large in diameter to fit into the cylinder,  they foul on the frame.  Shells fit fine.

Safari land Jets,  fit and function fine.

When i bought them their was also bits for Ruger GP100 on sale,  so from only a small amount of revolver bits for sale i assume my Jets are for a .357 GP100.

Had a go at modding a fixed hop into my 4" Wesson,  stayed stable for about 100shots,  shots started to curve off to the right.  This is handy as it means there is an active hop in effect :)

Just have to reset the inner barrel and re-bond the barrel anti-rotation shim back in place.

So far limited to 10m range,  will have to wait for a game day to see if hop has any real effect.

  6. Owner of these is looking at a PPK next.

Had them in for a service and fix up,  thought i would share the love with the Walther thread.

All been in storage for well over a year,  all been used hard and played, knocked and dropped,  last outing the dodgey batch of zero one green gas was used and the two GBB's just both stopped working,  all gunged up internally.

See if i could get them going again.

Maruzen P99 fixed slide, with silencer rather elegant piece to use,  lightweight, compact, trigger pull is lighter than a TM MK23,  a fraction of the size maybe not as playable,  but for for shorter range useage a very nice pistol indeed,  was impressed (and put in dibs if owner wants to sell)  doing around 310fps at room temp

Maruzen P99 compact,  with compact mag.  Slide cracked around recoil guide rod,  made a new steel face plate and bonded on,  fully working after a deep clean and lube up,  although on borrowed time due to slide.  Small mag, low pressure doing 220fps

Maruzen P99 compact,  with standard mag and grip extender,  deep clean and relube,  at room temp doing around 250fps

And 2x40rd mags.  All needed attention for sticky valves and slight leaks.  Owners requirements are only for short range useage,  out to 10meters mostly, 15-20 max.

They all live and get and to play again.

Thought the group photo would go nicely here :)

  7. notrabies,

the hammer spring mod is real easy,  however you can't buy a direct power drop spring.  It's trial and error.

The spring can be clipped down a bit,  then use small washers to fine tune output.

    A chrono will be needed.

My box stock 4" chrome was doing 380+  my first spring change went to 460fps,  my next was down to 250,  my next was 300,  then added a 1mm washer to bring it back to 320-340 area,  average around 330.

The spring is not far off those found in biro pens,  i just gathered a pile of random springs and mixed and matched until i got my required drop in FPS.

I will have a look and try and do a photo later of the spring against the pistol and ruler for scale for you.   Took about an hour and a few goes with access to a chrono to de-tune mine  :)

  8. After logging off last night i went a googling.

Ta for the photos chaps :)  i was a bit off in spelling and country,  but then i watched a subtitled version on VHS video back in 1997 so not too bad a memory for me.

So it's a French film and it's two "n" for spelling.

I reckon moving pictures are better to show off this revolver in action,  and Monica Bellucci getting a bit lewd with a shotgun and thats only the first several minutes.....

Found a german dubbed version on you tube and the movie trailer,  so get to watch it again for free but in german :)

    trailer.

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4XpQY5RQ84  movie.

Enjoy............    one of the locals to me has just bought a goblin gas in shell shot gun,  and he has a couple of Wessons,  will put the idea to him as he was responsible for the maybe not picked up on Win-Thon revolver in my picture a page back  :)

  9. Took me 30 mins of file work to get my lower rail to fit,  did yours just slip straight on Shardik ?

Mine was fitted then back in the box,  where it will lurk and wait.....

Top rail went on in a jiffy.  Glad i gave up on TM doing something and picked the same 4" shiny one as you have as well :)

Reminds me of a german film i saw years ago,  think it was called "Doberman"  chap in that had a large revolver with a custom rocket launcher under the barrel,  like a mini M203.  He kept the rockets in a cigar case with his cigars,  dead classy like :)    been looking at the shells for these new Goblin shotgun pistols.......

Did i fire five or six shots,  in all the excitment i last track,  and being as this is the most powerfull airsoft revolver in the world and one shot will really leave a nasty welt and make you eyes water........ then just zap them with whats close to a mini moscart :)

(mine wont hurt much as it's down to 330-340fps hammer spring mod)

  10. shoot through a cow allright then :)

tested my DE tri-shot with 3rd shot,  got 720fps...from a stock DE,  actual game test is on a single BB so back down to 280,  chrono can't cope with multi spread particles/vapour clouds.

Which is handy to know when chrono testing your CO2 Revolvers

see i steered it back to revolvers there,  while we wait for Shardiks photo to appear

  11. Picture not showing for me Shardik.

Some feedback on Dan Wessons.  Played mine now,  chrono testing was interesting.

Box stock pistol 4" Wesson was doing 380-400fps as expected.  Couple of hammer spring changes and down to a much safer 300 area.

Had a lot of non-readings (tote on Xcortech) on my Madbull V1,  but was getting fairly stable readings around the 300fps mark with some spikes to 330.

Site chrono test on Xcortech,  readings from 250 up to 450,  a 200fps variation,  test repeated on all 3 chronos,  same results.

I am aware that Madbulls can be fussy with gas blowback weapons,  so asked to retest but have the muzzle away from the black metal cone you shoot into,  leave some room for excess CO2 to blast off and escape and not make a vapour cloud inside the sensors.

Retested with muzzle a few inchs back,  stable readings around 320-340fps,  no wild variations or big spikes.  Played again last weekend,  fresh ASG CO2 capsule,  muzzle held back from cone,  again stable readings in the 320-340 area  :)  excess CO2 vapour can give wild chrono readings not true to actual FPS output.

Range maxed at 25m,  more effective at 20m then BB's drop.  Time to bodge a hop into it.

Strange how many grown blokes get a bit excited about Chrome Revolvers and want a little blast on it.

  12. Took a while, but got there in the end.

The playable one is the shiny 4" Dan Wesson, now running more around the 300fps mark than the 400fps mark so now playable. Gone with swapping out hammer springs over trying the power down shells, no chance of mixing up a full power shell.

Had a random job lot of jet loaders and pouches, Safari land jets work fine, the Seidlers don't work, a bit to wide, the grip could be altered, but i had 3 seidlers and 4 Safarilands, +some ASG Wesson ones.

Had to put a red dot on, but as theres no hop i will be running iron sights, until i decide to add a hop later on, if the range increase is more like 40-50m then the dots going back on.

Not bad to 10m be gaming it next weekend, and seeing what effective range it has (only expected to 20-25m)

    :)

  13. All this talk of red dot sights...... couldn't resist the urge to drop this in here :)

Mostly lurk in the quieter parts of the forum, thought i might cross over here for a change.

My TM G17 FrankenGlock, with extra red dot sight awesomeness for those long range shots.

Started life as a G17c, shop swapped top halfs and removed C extras as they had a special on Tan G17's when i bought it, and when i ordered, they had sold out so made one for me.

Picked up the TM magwell at a later date, still worked out way cheaper than buying a 17c in the first place.

Nineball 5.1 6.03x112.5(1911/hi-cappa) inner barrel, shimmed to fit outer barrel.

Stock outer barrel, sleeved and extended, was built around a 120mm inner, but 5.1" = equals slide size and not overall inner barrel length, so it's 112.5mm inner.

    Nineball purple hop rubber.

Hop unit honed faces and polished but stock TM

Recoil guide rod, polished but stock TM

Lightened BBU but still a stock TM part

Action alloy vented piston head (1911 part, tight fit works well)

Guarder alloy slide (more weight to lose there) replaced the stock TM plastic slide that only lasted 2 years on Green gas, some fittment issue's, BBU sits a fraction lower, so all contact surfaces have had a polish.

FAB Defense USM scope mount, with the old type Walther Top point red dot sight, bit more durable than some other dot sights, bit chunky but i am more of a function over fashion kind of chap.

Magazines have Magpul speed plates and polished BB feed tracks.

Been short stroked, but for gaming i prefer to have the slide lock back over counting shots, settled on a inner frame mounted recoil buffer instead.

Trigger is stock, but has been short stroked to remove most of the dead pull.

Stock TM night sights on slide, filed down rear sight to allow the slide to be removed with out taking off the scope mount, sometimes need a quick mid game relube as i use light oil on the slide for less friction over grease.

It's no show pony, and maybe not as pretty as some shooters in this thread, but it's taken aspects of the race gun world and gone more combat racer, might get an extended mag catch and i hear Nineball are doing Glock fit gas routers so might get some of them.

I play pistol only a lot, so it gets worked hard, 600-800rds a day, it has a not so modified third hand TM G17 as back up or for those moments when dual Glocks are better than one.

If TM made a G34 i would have just bought that instead :)

  14. Any pictures ?

One of the snipers turned up with one at a local game, he didn't get the subtle hint maybe chrono test it before playing, so i didn't get any FPS numbers from him.

Did have a good look and test fire in a game quiet moment, he got it from JD airsoft, sure they put FPS around 330 mark so a nice playable CO2 option.

He had removed the side mounted rail and was running sightless (no issue at normal pistol ranges)

It was weighty, slide blowback was crisp, nice balance.

The grips are a touch odd, being all metal, so your adding of grip tape is a good idea, i could see them getting slippery with wet or sweaty muddy hands.

Seemed a solid well built piece, nice to see a competiton pistol. For the package with scope rail and extended racking handle, seemed good value.

2 downsides from the owner. Current lack of spare mags in UK (may be available by now) and he kept losing his only mag when holstered, could be a slack fitting drop leg or maybe the mag catch sticks out a bit much, which i would expect on an IPSC pistol anyway for fast reloads.

    :)

  15. Thanks Mike, heard from someone else as well who tried a dummy .357 and .38 special in the ASG Wesson loader, both fit and function but he has never tried real speed loaders.

It looks positive, sort of, might have a punt on it as i really want the pouches in the job lot.

Going about this backwards really, had the holster for years anyway, now getting the extras before i even have the pistol :)

  16. A picture of the future new shiny thing home to be.

It's a job lot of jet loaders and pouches RC so if they fitted i could keep what i want and sell some on.

Just curious if anyone has used the make of Safariland jet loaders in there Dan Wessons and to check the size.

I am taking a gamble that most 6 shot .357/38special cylinders are close enough as there is only a few variations which might be to do with fitting around cylinder latchs and grips.

  17. I hope to join the thread properly in a months time, with a picture, when the shiny thing arrives.

It will be living in a price western rig.

Getting some bits and pieces in. I am getting a Dan Wesson, and have been offered a handfull of used Jet loaders designed for a Ruger GP100 and S&W 686/586 they are Seidler jet loaders type/size "L" will these function with a Dan Wesson ?

This will be a blind sale by post so i can't test them first.

    What do others use ?
