  1. no. if its an ARES sportline, its got a plastic gearbox.

if its got a metal gearbox and it is the sportline model with the ABS (and not nylon fiber) body, then its not worth that price. (cost 180USD in the states new from retail)

Bear in mind plenty of guns in other countries are more expensive than if they were sold in the US.

  2. Hi guys, Arnie,

    Hope you're well.

I've noticed this today. Essentially some forum threads are showing up in the wrong sub-forums, in the "Last post" area.

A picture is worth a thousand words:

In this case, the AR15 Variants and Derivitives picture thread is showing in the UK Sales and Trades subforum.

Clicking on that hyperlink will still take me through to the correct thread and subforum. If you click through to UK Sales and Trades (or the subforums) the erroneous thread does not display anywhere.

    Hope this helps.

  3. I really don't need the full auto and I'd be happier if there wasn't a selector at all but the selector seems fairly secure and I'm not sure that it moves around in between shots and I don't want to glue it (for now) in case that the part needs modifying or replacing.

I've got a similar problem with the G17 (No FA switch!) - I had someone look at it who said it's the sear that's worn away. You may need to replace that.

  4. In case it matters to you...the 74u kicks harder than the AKM..the piston base on my 74u was steel out of the box.

    Good info, thanks :)

To be honest I'm probably going to go with the 74u. Would be a nice compact rifle to lug around :)

  5. Well used mine in anger for the first time today.  I found

    1. First shot when chrono'ing the gun resulted in the back of my torch flying off (good job I had another with a stronger back as I was part doing CQB)
    2. The battery latch of my Eotech clone would gradually work loose resulting in the batteries being disconnected (who needs a red dot anyhow when your first shot has gone down stream)
    3. Some of my mags (all new) would not take more than about 24/5 rounds at first, and even by the end of the day some were still only accepting 28

However - had a blast, loved it.  Just wished I'd either bought more mags from Guns and Guys when I got the G5 or had ordered more from Samoon.  Most the mags are now taking 28-32 rounds and there's enough gas for two loads without any apparent drop.  Oh and the accuracy of the thing without even touching the hop.

    Glad you enjoyed it!

To fix the Eotech problem, what you can do is cut several layers of tinfoil to put between the battery and the contacts. Of course, make sure the tinfoil doesn't connect both batteries together!

It means the batteries stay a little more snug.
