PGC P226 woes!

Hey all.

I got a 3rd hand PCG'd TM226 the other week. I first used either HFC green gas or ASG green gas, and the pistol didn't work properly. The previous owner said he used propane and had never had an issue.

I've since gotten propane and an adaptor and it still doesn't work. I'm not sure what the issue is, the problems are so varied. Sometimes nothing will happen when I pull the trigger, sometimes all the gas will vent, sometimes only a tiny bit will come out and sometimes it will fire fully automatic for a few shots!

Has anyone had a problem like this before? What can I do to fix it? And where would be a good place to send the gun for fixing if I can't DIY it?

Here are some videos of the problems!

Using a standard TM 226 mag: http://tinypic.com/r/2j1opr8/7

Using one of the upgraded mags (with a hiflow valve): http://tinypic.com/r/es1fmf/7 Sorry about the bad angle, you get the idea though

Upgraded mag: http://tinypic.com/r/rrp3l4/7 Worked alright, not much gas in it

Upgraded mag: http://tinypic.com/r/am2uc5/7 Nothing! What is ze problem?!

Do you know of any upgrades made to the gun besides the frame and slide?

No gas after the trigger pulled typically indicates a damaged valve knocker (or not installed properly). This might be the cause of the full auto fire - it's not retracting properly to allow the valve to close.

Venting gas with no blowback is typically due to a damaged rocket valve (or not installed properly). It's not closing to allow gas to be routed for the blowback. Without the blowback action, the magazine valve doesn't close allowing all of it to vent out.

These are a few things that come to mind. It's always possible that it might be due to other issues. Hope this helps - good luck.

This is a list of what has been done to the pistol:

PGC P226 Aluminium CNC Frame & Slide Set (non-railed)

Guarder Enhanced Loading Muzzle

Firefly Rocket Valve and Piston Head Set

NINE BALL Magazine Valve Sets

NINE BALL Hammer Spring

NINE BALL 6.03mm Inner Barrel

Enhanced recoil spring

Shooter Design CNC valve knocker

I'm not sure its the valve knocker - I filled up two regular mags with my standard TM226 and they fired off perfectly. The movement that the valve knocker on the standard 226 seems to be the same as on the upgraded 226.

Here are videos to compare, sorry about the poor quality.

Anyone got a link to 226 slide disassembly?

Well I found a picture of the upper slide disassembled (from the manual) and have taken apart the piston. Nothing seems broken... Will compare with my stock 226 shortly.

Well, the rocket etc was under tension in the upgraded 226 but not in the stock 226, don't know if thats relevant. IE, when I undid the tiny screw on the piston for the upgraded 226 the rocket and spring flew out but I had to wiggle it out for the stock 226.

The stock spring is a lot more compressed than the spring from the upraded 226, dont know if thats of any consequence.
