Butter18c
I'm getting an aimpoint for my m4 in the near future, and have a choice between an L-mount and a cantilever mount. Which one do you guys prefer? And if I get an L-mount, will I still be able to place it on my flattop reciever and see over the front sight post?
Shao14
Sometimes I like the L-mount, but other times I like the cantilever mount. . Kind of depend on my mood. Anyways, for the L-mount, there are two types, one is low mount and the other is high mount. Using the low mount on the receiver, the dot will be blocked by the front iron sight unless you remove the front iron sight, or flip it down if you have one of those flip iron sights. Currently, I'm using a low L shaped mount on the carry handle. http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...cmd=si&img=2715
rich_usa
awesome kit there Shao i had the same thought because i just got an M4 and personally i think the L mount looks just that little bit better but i think the decision ( like so many ) will be down to personal taste and which one you would find easier to use
Smoker
Well you could set it up dual aperture. Meaning that the reddot sight is fixed(lined up) with the hard sights. This will allow you to sight in with your hard sights and just mount your dot sight on and line it up. Also, it helps with point shooting accuracy. Plus, if your battery dies your still sighted in and don't have to adjust your sight picture. Some of this isn't as neccessary as it would be with real steel, but, will still help with overall shooting. You just have to get used to your hard sights being in the bottom of your dot sight. unimatrix001
Get this mount if you want to do it US-Military style: http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?i...d92dd8df06cd4a1 or one of these three for Civilian, LE or individual style: http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?i...d92dd8df06cd4a1 http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?i...d92dd8df06cd4a1 http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?i...d92dd8df06cd4a1 All these mounts are compatible with the M4 flat-top and you're able to sight over the front sight post. Co-Witness-Setups are also possible (I think that's what smoker wants to tell us). PLEASE: NO standard cantilever!
Smoker
Got to admit, I have no idea what you mean there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> With the folding or rear block sight in place you sight the AEG in normally. Then place the reddot sight between them so that the dot is aligned with the hard sights. This is your dual apperature or double sight. Makes for quick target aquisition at short and long distances and once you get used to it you'll never wnt to go back to single sight again. Added bonus, if the reddot goes out in the middle of a fight your sights are still right on. But, again not neccessary on airsoft. Plus, some people don't like the look more relevent on an AEG. One of the main reasons for fitting an RDS to an airsoft gun is to raise the line of sight up a bit so you can use it comfortably with a mask or goggles on.
