  1. There's also no external extractor on the PGC kit only. Interesting real steel fact: when Sig switched from a rolled carbon steel slide to a milled stainless slide on the P226, they also changed to an external extractor. When they made the same switch on the P220, they kept the internal extractor and put a hole in side of the slide to aid in installation and removal.
  2. Thanks! That was my goal. Actually, the only external parts that aren't real are the frame, controls and outer barrel. It has a real P228 slide, real grips and a real mag floor plate. She's a work in progress, but keeps getting closer and closer to the end.
  3. Thought I'd throw up an update on my CarpandeanCustom P228 (TM P226 based): I had to strip the Guarder frame to make some modifications (though, I kinda like the way it looks, too). Mostly, what's left is cleaning up the action so it's a little more smooth and getting a new, shorter screw for the mag so that it seals tighter. Given the size and the Hogues, it feels amazing in my hand.
  4. A lot of the real-steel classic (not Pro) Sigs have a two-tone effect, especially the older stamped carbon steel slides (which the PGC kit copies). With OEM grips, the PGC kit would look even more real than it does now, but there would still be a few details that give it away (well, if you look closely enough). The first is the trigger screw, which is actually poorly done on the PGC kit (at least the railed version I have). I also don't think the finish on the barrel looks very good. There are a few others, but most are very minor. I do wish that TM had copied the full capacity 9mm
  5. I keep sayin' the Guarder springs are too strong, but nobody listens (Stock springs work with stock frame) + (PGC weighs about the same as stock frame) = Don't have to upgrade spring much 150% just puts too much stress on the internals, especially the hammer spring. If want a tighter trigger, try a 130%. I assume that this is the non-railed PGC kit, since it comes with the older style rear sight. Pics? (It is, after all, the P226 pics thread)
  6. It was about the same price, though a lot more work, than the Creation P226 slide. I had to take a lot of material out of the top, inside to fit the cylinder housing and to get the barrel to function properly. I'm swamped with work, so it will be a couple of weeks before I can do any more work on it. Hopefully, I'll have the right PGC kit and the mag before then, so I can finish it up.
  7. Sure is. I custom cut a stock inner barrel, but I will probably look at using a G26 tight-bore inner barrel on the final version. The slide is a highly modified (internally) real steel slide. Almost every internal component is modified to some degree and I had to fab a few new parts. Currently, the frame is a modified plastic one, but I will probably end up modding a non-rail PGC frame for the final version. I also need to buy a real mag to get the right foot plate. Here's a second teaser:
  8. Sometimes, if the guide rod gets twisted just a little bit, the "box" on the inside end will catch the front of the trigger assembly housing. When this happens, the guide rod gets pushed forward a little bit. Take it off, make sure that the peg is in the hole, the unit is straight and try it again. Also, if it is an after-market guide rod, make sure that it is screwed all the way into the box. If that doesn't work, snap some photos with the slide on and off (showing inside) of the frame. Just to add to the fun: Yes, it is a Marui and no, there are no Tanaka parts. It's
  9. Let's just say that they can be made to fit. If you look on the last page, you will see my P226R DAK sporting some factory grips. The holes for the grip screws need to be widened because the original TM has a plastic lip around the metal threaded part. The outer diameter of the metal part is about the size of the factory hole. I have a small file with a rounded side that works really well. The metal body kits are designed for Marui grips, so they have the same problem (only it's all metal). The other grinding that needs to be done is around the mainspring support (that big silver pi
  10. Well, the choice of internals was made by Marui, so they had to plan around the newer style trigger-bar spring. For the same reason, it would have the newer style take-down lever and the shorter mainspring and strut (another area where the old-style grips may need to be modded). It also has the older style trades, the "internal" extractor (well, it doesn't have a fake external extractor like all other kits) and the older style rear sight. Basically, it is supposed to look like the older rolled carbon steel slide instead of the newer milled stainless slide. By the way, nice choice o
  11. Ebay. They take a bit of dremel work to make them fit. The older style may take more work since Marui designed its trigger bar spring after the newer style Sigs. The old style grips have to be modified to fit on newer real steel Sigs, too. If you do use the old style, they really should be on a PGC non-railed kit since it is the only one designed after the older style Sigs.
  12. Here are the twins: The top one has a PGC fame/slide/outer barrel kit, a PDI inner barrel, stock springs, stock flow valve and factory (real steel) grips. I custom modified it to run as a Double Action Only (DAO), which took a lot more than just removing the SA catch on the hammer. With the stock hammer spring, I like to think of it as a P226R DAK (Double Action Kellermann -- Sig's new low trigger weight DAO system). See pics/vids below. The bottom one has a Guarder frame/slide kit, VFC outer barrel, Guarder recoil/trigger springs and hi-flow valve. It is a Traditional Doub
  13. According to Merriam-Webster: So, I guess aluminum does rust. Though, having worked in a fabrication shop that used both steel and aluminum, I can say that typically one says that steel (iron) rusts and aluminum oxidizes.
  14. Mine is IS U000 41* (do we really need to hide the last digit in airsoft?)
  15. Wolfy, you should ask Redwolf why KJ has a diagram about the effects of hopup (see picture in beginning of thread) if it doesn't have one 1647, if you go to G&P's main page and click on Distributive Products, you get this page that lists several of the main GBB manufacturers. I think that they are a distributor for these manufacturers. Doesn't mean that they did not make the body, but ... Also, the G&P kit does not have the anchor. Again, not conclusive, but ... VTMofo, great review!
