  1. I would recommend Ares Gear Belts over Jones Tactical. Ares Gear was the originator of the design which many others have since copied (including Jones Tactical which is a matter of public record), furthermore, the cost is about the same, the wait is only 4 weeks for Ares Gear, and since you mentioned Velcro failing on belts, Jones tactical belts have Velcro whereas Ares Gear doesn't have any.
  2. If it works for how you personally run the gun, then it's all good.
  3. I'm a big fan of the US Grunt Gear Infidel and Infidel II Padded War Belts. http://www.usgruntgear.com/inpawarbe.html http://www.usgruntgear.com/iniipawarbe.html I've tried pretty much every padded belt out there. These are my favorites. I've worn these belts in several carbine classes and they've done a great job of distributing weight, retaining gear, staying in place and still being relatively low profile. I've seen students in class with various different kinds of popular padded belts struggle with keeping the belts where they need to be when shooting from prone, supine, urban prone
  4. This. I prefer tight than not.
  5. I too have had negative experiences with almost every Guarder steel part I've ever installed in the past. From what I understand reading the KWA Technical Forums (which are a great info resource for all KWA products BTW), these are a drop in hassle free installation.
  6. Very much so. We've been running them pretty hard for a few months now and they're all stock internally. Not had any issues so far. It's actually convinced a few of my friends who have been holding out on getting GBBRs to get on the LM4 bus. There are a few GBBR options out there. This is one good to go right out of the box.
  7. Thanks! I'm really quite impressed with the MI rails. Especially the competitive price : cheaper than all their competitors, and just a little more expensive than Madbull's licensed rails. Also, this is hands down the slimmest rail I've handled so far. Thinner than even VTAC/Troy Battlerails.
  8. There isn't a thread for ATP's ... which are essentially KSC Glocks dressed up differently. So I made sure I at least had a KSC Glock in the pic too : I'm really digging the ATP. Looks and feels a lot like my M&P 9mm. Fits in both my G17 and M&P holsters. And the internal parts are compatible with a KWA/KSC G17. Last night I installed a Vickers Enhanced Slide Stop on the ATP which I think looks better than the OEM one and is less easy to accidentally trip. More about the ATP here.

  11. Too late to edit my last post. Picture thread needs moar pics: KSC G17 with RS 10-8 sights (fronts are Tritium). I installed the Vickers extended mag release last night. It was a perfect drop in.
  12. Yeah black BBS are not for everyone and all situations. They're great for 10 yards and in marksmanship supplemental training. And good for force on force training. But their viability in skirmishes is highly debatable. I know a lot of the instructors who use Airsoft as part of the training instruction prefer black BBs.
  13. That's exactly what I recommend to people who shoot real steel a lot, and for that exact reason. Actually, I recommend black BBs. I didn't know those blue BBs were not detectable by eye mid-flight. What brand are they?
  14. I use the same screw head stippling method. I find it covers a lot more surface area in less time and effort and yet still gets you a random texture. All you have to do is find a flat head screw with the same threading as the soldering iron you have. Cut a cross hatch pattern into it with a dremel or file and then stipply everything plastic in sight. To texture something with an apparently random looking pattern, what I do is randomly start stippling everywhere first. I don't cluster. When you start clustering from the get-go you can end up with a pattern. After a while you can start filli
  15. I really like the stipple job and grip reduction you did on yours. Regarding an extreme grip reduction like what you're talking about, I'm not crazy about how straight back straps feels on Glocks myself. Just not for me and how I shoot I guess. As for adding texture to the trigger guard area on your gun I can see how doing the same texture technique that you have on the rest of the gun might not be ideal. In that area on the underside of the trigger guard you want more grip, but not too much grip. You also need to be careful of how much and how deep you stipple it since the material thickness
  16. Yup, it's not the most difficult thing to do. Anyone with a soldering iron and a little patience can stipple plastic with ease. Doing it well takes practice. And as Danke points out, different plastics react slightly differently to that kind of heat. Even different Glock frames by different companies can give you different results. I've stippled every major brand of airsoft Glock. The easiest plastic to work with was the TM plastic. Some plastics melt without issue while others require more heat or just get stringy no matter what you do. Also, the same plastics by the same company can also rea
  17. No problem! Took some quick pics with my phone last night after installing the 10-8 night sights and Vickers Slide Release on my KSC G17: Waiting on the Vickers Mag Release to come in. Gonna install a Vickers Slide Release on one of my ATPs as well. Liking it all so far.
  18. I finally got around to testing the Vickers mag bases. They are not compatible with any of the Glocks I had on hand (KSC/KWA/TM/WE/HK3P). Real Glocks are just a touch wider than the airsoft version. If you need better base pads, the KWA ATP (which uses the same mags as the KSC/KWA Glock) has a thick rubberized base pad that is designed to absorb a lot of the shock created when dropping the mag onto a hard surface. They're not going to 100% protect your mags, but they'll do a heck of a lot better than the OEM Glock style mag bases. In other news, I installed 10-8 front (tritium) and rear s
  19. Just to be clear, you broke two products over the WEEKEND and the company that made them didn't get back to you over their WEEKEND? Do you work weekends? Most people don't you know. And it can take any company days to weeks to get back to customers regarding warranty issues. It happens all the time with any industry. I know it's frustrating when something you buy breaks, but not all companies have a dozen sales staff waiting on the line to address any issue. Issues are addressed by one or two people in the order that they are received. It's not perfect, but that's reality. Regarding the si
  20. It matters to people who shoot a lot of real steel and use this as a training tool (like myself and the LEOs/MIL personnel and other RS shooters I shoot alongside weekly). To 95% of airsofters who don't know any better about how a real AR15's manual of arms operates ... or just wants something that "shoots, gets good efficiency" this is perfect for them. I'll be honest, even though this one particular feature is not integrated into the platform, as far as GBBRs are concerned I'm still confident in recommending this gun to people who want to use it for training. It's just really well built and
  21. One of my shooting buddies wanted a LM4 for training which we picked up this evening from AEX. He gave me a spare RS Troy 13" Battle Rail to install onto the gun. The RS Troy barrel nut was certainly harder to screw onto the receiver than the Madbull Troy/VTac rail's barrel nut. Similar to what I experienced with the Midwest Industries' rail. Quite a bit of effort was involved.
  22. Just relaying the phone conversation I had with Allizard from a few hours earlier. This exact topic came up. The answer was quite clear: "we're aware of it and are looking into it".
  23. Not 100% unfortunately. For the most part yes, however when you insert a loaded mag into the gun with the bolt locked back, you have to use the bolt release to release the bolt. On a real AR15 you can use the bolt release OR you can rack the charging handle. Racking the charging handle will not release the bolt on the KWA. KWA is aware of that and are looking into it.
  24. Slu: From what I saw, it wasn't worth trying. I'll let someone else with the time, effort and money to try and convert it. Even though the stock upper is a two piece (left and right) design, it's still a blank upper. Also, MilSpec Trigger guards are compatible.
