  1. I've only seen that happen once to a SOPMOD - though not in the way you describe, which is a bit worrying. One of our team fell on his and it went near the stock - but it's not like these things are at the beefier end of the externals scale (Real Sword, G&P etc). Only time until aftermarket CNC receivers become available, I reckon.
  2. You may have missed Snoop's post. Looks like his Masada is staying in the box, down to the TM M4 SOCOM. Definitely worth checking out if you want great OOTB performance at Masada prices. Don't expect the externals to be up to G&P's M4 or Ares' (Magpul PTS) Masada standards though
  3. Looks like guys who held out for the UK version are getting an enhanced version of the handguard, amongst other things.
  4. A lot of people looking to buy one or the other, the current joint toasts of the airsoft scene. Heard much better things about the TM than the Ares in terms of performance, but much better things about the Ares than the TM in terms of externals. Which would you choose as your primary, sn00p? Edit: clarity
  5. Good review. I notice Airsoft News EU also has a review up - glad to see these things are getting some exposure. It's good that the sensor is buried in the GB - I guess it means it's less likely that rain will penetrate. Inevitably, the qualities of this device will be compared to some of the features of a PTW and I think it's a really important upgrade for those on a tight budget.
  6. Unfortunately the fix remains the same. Remove the MARS, install the Shooter rail, install an optic of your choice
  7. They are pretty much the same as ever OOTB. The newer ones have a shrink wrapped motor (reason unknown) and the soldered motor wires are gone, replaced by connectors - which makes life a bit easier with the motor. Once you solve the compression issue etc, they are great AEGs. I do think there are direct similarities between the Tavor's faults and the Masada's though - which illustrates how well ARES deals with feedback. This Tavor thread is also worth reading. Lots of helpful input from Beretta, who knows these things at expert level.
  8. I think it's far, far worse than anyone imagined. Earlier, it seemed as if a few washers had been missed. Now it seems that tolerances are so poor that a large assembly needs to be shimmed! It's not like we're talking about a gearbox here - for this price I'd expect it to fit together OK. To add insult to injury, the more shims you have, the nearer the reject pile your AEG was.
  9. That's good to know. I guess the other thing is that if the real ACR is moulded in the same way, it's a dint of the rifle not the replica.
  10. I'm really surprised at this. We know that the internals aren't up to the quality of the Magpul brand, but now it emerges that the plastic which composes most of the rest of the gun isn't up to PTS standards either (and PTS is below the standard of Magpul RS anyway). That's bizarre. Beretta - how near is the plastic to Tavor quality, would you say?
  11. +1 But in Japan, you're playing at under 1J aren't you? That's not rigorous, even by UK standards.
  12. Your response has just a whiff of desperation to it. Yes...some owners have few problems, but the majority seem to be firming up replacement parts lists (some are dressing this up as 'personal preference') before committing. This isn't a cheap AEG.
  13. This is just rubbish. For the price, it should be plug and play. I can't believe guys on this thread are saying don't comment on the questionable quality, comment on the fixes. Ridiculous.
  14. The gearbox is one of the biggest giveaways it's ARES. Unless G&P make all of ARES stuff, under a special 'poor QC' agreement. It sounds highly dubious to me and the kind of thing that's put out there to deflect criticism.
  15. Aw man - when will the ARES denial end?
