  1. Just watched your 'vid', smart piece of kit
  2. Cheers 'Firefly0' Atlast ive found like minded people Being a 'Chippy' by trade, the wood is all off cuts from work
  3. Many thanks 'baias6230' As you may have gathered im a total 'nut' when it comes to TM 1911s and im forever tinkering with one or another The 'Ed Brown Special Forces' project is now complete and i shall try to get some photos up soon. 'tomo' I love that Wilson combat with the extended recoil spring guide rod (I think someone else pointed out previously, it helps stop the slide rattling ). Pity 'Socomgear' never thought to lower and flare the ejection port when they did their tweaks to what is essentially a 'WE' CQB pistol.
  4. Ok heres my 'NightHawk Talon II' project.... The basic pistol is a TM 4.3 with the following modifications: Slide has chin cutouts, markings/cocking serrations removed and filled, sprayed black, TM 5.1 foresight vane added, TM 1911a1 shortened barrel bushing added along with its customized recoil spring plug and barrel that has also been shortened and sprayed silver, a Guarder Hop rubber is the only non-standard internal fitted. The frame and furniture has had grip markings removed, frame fore end underside has been rounded and sprayed silver, thumb safety cut, gr
  5. One of my earlier projects that ive recently re-tweaked some what.... Had to modify the TM MEU thumb safety to resemble a 'Les Baer' type, a lot of grinding down and sanding involved but I think it looks ok . The slide is a filled, sanded, painted and re-engraved TM 5.1 I had in my spares box, how im going to cut additional cocking serrations fore and aft i have no idea The grips are 'Mahogany' hand made. Pictured below is the 'real steel' pistol the gun was based on...
  6. Yeah they do but another accessory manufacturer may not, hence no seperate sights . If it was supplied as an accessory without pistol attached now that would be great
  7. Now that is some cool photography I use to have one of these WE Dragons but regrettably i sold her
  8. Thanks 'RockDog', yes it took some time to do and very worrying if i got it wrong bang goes a slide! Money wise it was'nt too bad, as the 5.1 i have since used on another project/spares. Its such a pity that no one does 'Bomar' sights as an accessory, i think they would make a killing Same goes for the 'Novak' sights, maybe copyright infringment is an issue Thanks for all the feed back guys . I have now uploaded an album of some of my projects old and new .
  9. From the album: MrManiacs pop gun pics!

    My pistols so far:
  10. Ok I ground and filed down/sanded the underside of the dust cover of the frame, so as to make it rounded, polished and buffed the rear/grip safety area, masked off the rear area and then sprayed the frame with matt black undercoat. The grip was ground/sanded down using a 'Dremel' taking off all markings etc, also the front lower lip section of the grip was sanded off. It was a bit tricky here and there and the air turned blue on many occasion Heres a pic of the 'Real steel' pistol its based on: Ive also done a 'NightHawk Talon II' look alike conversion to a TM 4.3 (Its a stop
  11. My attempt at a 'Wilson Combat' KZ-9 using the following: TM MEU slide, with all internals (filled, polished and sprayed). TM 5.1 frame, rear end and grip safety polished, grips sanded. TM 4.3 hammer and thumb safety polished. Nineball mag release. Nineball 3-hole trigger.
  12. Love that bright metal look What make WE, KJW?
  13. Fairly new to these forums and have been meaning to post for some while. I have to say i love these shotty pics nearly as much as i do the 1911 thread pics Anyway here goes with my little lady... 'Vanessa' G&P M870 with real steel wood fore and aft stocks fitted imported from the US.
  14. Damn , oh well as i wanted to get hold of a 'Les Baer' style thumb safety. May try to mod the ambi-safety from the TM MEU, not strictly accurate, as its a captured head, hammer pin type and the 'Les Baer' is a 'Svenson' style but it will do i think. Thanks 'RacingManiac'
  15. Thanks 'baias6230' for the compliment , i will admit however the Nineball ABS slide is ######, as i had to rebore the recoil rod guide tube, as it was miss-aligned, bad manufacturing must have been a friday batch 'RacingManiac' wrote: Its not that difficult to use the available Hi-Capa parts to make one, just costs abit more.... True but i can understand, it would be nice to be able to get a standard, round top slide, with a Bo-mar fitted, off the shelf A quick question, though i expect this has been asked before: can 'real steel' thumb safetys be used on TM1911s?
