  1. Without getting into exactly why things are the way they are (unless you want to see a bunch of confusing algebraic equations) DOF is inversely proportional to format's size. The smaller the format, the greater the depth of field. Forget field of view, it is impossible for a digital camera, unless it has a CCD that it the same size as a 35mm negative, to have the same DOF as a 35mm camera. If you want to talk about DOF, there will always be a difference between a Nikon F100 / F6 and a D70 / D2X. Casual viewers to me are people who don’t really care about what the image looks like.
  2. It still wont be anywhere near what film is like. You can get away with it if you are shooting for casual viewers, but it makes a big difference to those who can tell.
  3. Thats because the depth of field isnt shallow enough on digital cameras to do that. Its part of the reason I only use film.
  4. Looks like Photoshops lens blur tool. I would turn the threshold up on them a bit.
  5. Too many things to list. Lighting effects on different parts of the picture, contrast, brightness, saturation, lens blur, I cant remember the rest

  10. The Japanese law says that the dimensions of a replica cannot exactly match those of its real counterpart, so that could be what he is referring to.
  11. Excellent job with the lighting. Shiny metallic guns can be quite a challenge to photograph.
  12. No need using my low res one - here is the big version (its the same aspect ratio as a 1024 x 768 monitor) just dont go selling stuff with my pictures
  13. yes that is a lighting bolt in the foreground. everytime I post pictures here I get like a million PMs about what camera I use so this is it: Nikon F 35mm I use slide film with it to get better color saturation. (like $20 a roll ) I have some stills I could post from my current movie I just finished shooting, but I have to wait a bit to get my film stock back from the lab.
  14. Same is true with B/W Black and white is no different than color, there are times to use it and times not to. Weather or not it works with the image boils down to the eye of the photographer. Photoshopping your pictures to be black and white will not replicate the tones and shadow/highlight details film does so look at some real b/w pictures before you give up on it.
  15. That suppressor on your P90 is pretty cute
  16. Well I dont know about a few minutes and 10 seconds, but Photoshop is my best friend Most of my work goes into setting a shot up, I just use PS to enhance it in different ways:
